ours was given the only choice regardless.. base on geographic location, UHC is not in the Mid Atlantic region it is BCBS. So everyone had to do it all over rather than keep what they have Im wondering if this was different at each station

It depended on which state you work in. One state may be UHC and another BCBS. I was UHC and now BCBS. No choice in the matter.

You think W&B is all that difficult of a concept to learn? Simple math on the weight, and pull 'n chug the numbers into a template for the balance. This isn't rocket surgery.

Nope, it's not at all rocket science. And still it's often screwed up. Even if the plan is done right, it has to be loaded and reported as planned. That doesn't always happen either.

As for HazMat, that's a three hour lecture... if that.

Again you're correct when discussing from a ramper perspective of only loading hazmat on the aircraft. Fleet also needs to know how to accept it in many places. And the hazmat incident that crashed Valujet was caused by TRAINED PERSONNEL. That training class involved isn't a 3 hour class, it's all day for a SHORT class. Some airlines require a full WEEK.

Learning how to drive a car takes more time for someone who has never driven a car before, and that's part of the job, and yet, probably 95% of adult Americans have that skill too. Do you understand it is a matter of supply and demand and there are plenty of people with the limited skills required to perform the job?

Uhhh... unless things have changed since I moved from Phoenix, I'd say 95% of adults DON'T have that skill, they just have the license. I know no one in Vegas can drive worth a damn.

Mr. Necigrad,

I believe you to be rather cheeky here, and I like a good laugh, even if the humor exarggerates and distorts reality... we all know people can drive in Phoenix and Las Vegas, but not to your standards. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story or joke even, nonetheless, my point stands.

Point of correction though as it relates to ValuJet, according to the NTSB report, "the failure of ValuJet to properly oversee its contract maintenance program to insure compliance of maintenance, maintenance training and hazardous material requirements and practices" does not suggest to me the parties responsible were trained personnel. Certainly it did not help the ramp agent, who accepted the oxygen generator canisters, did not know the HazMat was improperly packed and mislabled.

Once again, let's never allow the facts to get in the way of a good story.

So Reviews Jester.

Yeah, facts suck, I know. Like the minor fact that the last person that reviewed the task card for said oxygen generators, a Sabertech Maintance "inspector" admitted to reading and understanding that they needed the missing safety caps. Oh, and since the term "inspector" was used, I believe we can assume that this was an A&P with IA, which is far more training then you got in ramp class, in any dangerous goods class, and the training you got at the only other job you were qualified for, McDonalds.

them facts.

US Air CLT-MLB article
http://www.floridatoday.com/article/200911...S/91109003/1003

"Melbourne International Airport officials announced the new service this morning at a special meeting to approve an incentive plan that gives the air carrier a break on certain airport fees and expenses for two years."

The reason it is relative here is because we have discussed on this Fleet Service board how US should negotiate with the airports better to keep fees down and keep Fleet Service working the flights. I realize it is for two years however it is a start and something that should be done at all airports.

When there is presently only one airline flying to a small airport, the need to incentivize becomes more of an imperative versus where most of US mainline flying is done with a half dozen competitors in the same large airports. Allegiant Air has been following this model for sometime and small airports like Laredo, Bismarck, Wichita, Kalispell, Rapid City, etc. which charge little or no rent on the facilities just to get air service. It probably didn't hurt that the Feds were able provide additional money for Melbourne with the Small Community Air Service Development grant.

My point being, this event isn't nearly the same as your proposal to "negotiate with the airports better and keep Fleet Service working the flights," especially as those flights to Melbourne will be almost certainly Express Carriers. If it could be done, it would have been done by a dozen other airlines already. It is wishful thinking on your part to believe otherwise.

So Views Jester.

Southwest does it all the time, airports beg for them to start service to their city and they get steals all the time.

Sidenote: I met one of these guys a few years back if its the same person . I wouldn't trust him with throwing out my trash much less represent me .
I guess the blood money he received for selling out has run out.

Is this the Unionism you are talking about O-man, bashing the ex-TWU guys which I happen to be. I am part of the GC in PHX and I assure you that I am supported here.

If the shoe fits my friend. when people stop serving the membership because it's the right thing to do and instead represent expecting a

golden ticket to get his office away from the membership so they don't have to "deal with all the B/S" then I would say the blood running threw those vains

has changed from union to company koolaid. Being a mouth piece for management is not very appealing if you ask me. But back to the question

I was referring to the Local Lodge . do we have any fleet as officer or running for office.

What??????????????I don't know what you are talking about but if bashing a GC who represents their members everyday and is supported locally is Unionism then I say you are mistaken bro.

Mr. O-man,

It is a gracious offer from which I normally expect the My Dear Gentle Mr. Roabilly to provide. Unfortunately, I cannot offer a répondez s'il vous plaît in the affirmative to a delightful evening of pig picking and dissent bashing at the local union hall.

Please extend my well-wishes upon the hearty and joyous gathering during your coronation event.

So Requests Jester.
