Winter 2007/2008 Route/Schedule Changes

It is not uncommon for 757 flights from MIA to be swapped out with the 767-300. I have worked those flights several times. Even an A300 once. I know DL used to fly several 767's and even L1011's back in the day out of LGA. A quick search on airliners.net or jetphotos.net you will find widebodies by almost all the legacy airlines back in the 70's and 80's.

Delta was flying 767s (-200, -300, and -400s) on a regular basis to LaGuardia until around 2003. They had 767 flights from Atlanta, Cincinnati, Fort Lauderdale, and Orlando.

This used to be my ride home on Sunday nights... AA225 or AA255 depending on season, and almost always weight restricted to have 30 empty seats in the back so that there was enough fuel to get to DFW.

ORD-LGA also operated with a D10 a couple times a day, IIRC.

I flew literally hundreds of L-1011 flights between LGA and places in Flordia mainly Palm Beach (PBI). It was a bit tight at times, ILS in low vis to Runway 13, but otherwise just fine.
Remember the Tastee Bread approach on a winter night with the wind from the north at about 35 kts?

Who could forget the lights on Tastee Bread and trying to line up on Rwy 31 in the crosswind at night landing over the dike!

I recall a roommate back in '72 who was from Rochester, NY, and frequently went home on an AA DC10, which I'm pretty sure left from LGA.

Some of our younger members might forget the DC10 and L1011 were specifically developed to be able to use LGA and DCA. The airlines wanted a fat airplane that could use the close in airports where the business was.

For a short time TWA flew the L-1011 from LGA to CMH. Its interesting that ALL the flights from LGA to CMH are now operated by regional jets. Times have changed alot for routes once flown by widebodies.

I am sure there are "Wide Bodies" still flying LGA-CMH, as well as every other place, just that the "Wide Bodies" are not jets. Oh no, I just did say that. lol

Not huge, but two old Miami routes are returning.

Mark, have you heard anything else about the status of ORD-EZE?

Skymess,

We were told last week that approval has not come yet. But that we ARE still planning on flying the route. I'll beleive it when I see it on the bidsheet. Personally, I think it won't happen, but what do I know. Also, we were told it was now targeted for the 12-13 schedule change.

Quick note on widebodies in LGA...Delta requested the 764 have 2 requirements: can land in LGA and make ATL-HNL non-stop.

Also, AA had a daily DC-10 routed LGA-RDU-MCO-RDU-LGA

I doubt it is going to happen. One reason AA applied for it was protection. When the US/Argentina expandd their air service treaties, it was almost obvious that CO and DL would be applying for more frequencies, and AA wanted to stay ahead of the game in the Argentine market. As it turns out, CO and DL have shown no interest in the frequencies. I hope that AA goes for it, but I wouldn't hold my breathe.

I think AA should grab some of these new Argentina frequencies while they are available: 1 daylight MIA-EZE, 1 more night MIA-EZE for a total of 4 daily MIA-EZE, 1 MIA-COR, and 1 ORD-EZE.
