What's new

Winter 2006/07 Schedule Changes

Someone posted an assertion on Flyertalk that Delta had been granted an additional daily ATL-GRU which will fly during the daytime; any word on whether AA will receive any extra Brazil frequencies to compensate for Varig's near death experience?

AA is awaiting approval to operate a fourth daily MIA-GRU flight. It will be a daylight. The reason that they are moving the current flight to redeye is because AA thinks it will be easier to get the new flight approved if they propose daylight.

Hey, we could maybe offer DFW-HNL-SYD!

I guess you forget that AA flew this very same route with a D10 back in the 80s in a route case that competed with DL that proposed ATL-HNL-SYD on an L10. AA kept the route for not more than a couple years. Besides, if you have to stop in HNL, why waste a 777 when a 767 would work just fine and cost a whole lot less to operate? I don't think there is a whole lot of First Class demand to Sydney via HNL.

Didn't forget. Didn't know. I've only been with AA since 2000. Furthermore, don't care. It was a joke for chrissakes. Besides, in the days when I flew to SYD it was aboard either Air New Zealand or Qantas.

Does anyone know the status of ORD-MEX? I read on here is was going away, but the agents in Mexico City say AA is going to bring it back?

Taking advantage of the fact that Halifax now has pre-clearence, AA is starting daily ERJ service on LGA-YHZ 14Dec06. This is in addition to 2x JFK-YHZ service.

AA's service on the DFW-HNL-SYD route was excellent. It was true C and F service from DFW to HNL (caviar, multi-course meal, etc.) -- even Y had a great meal and free drinks.

I took the return flight at Midnight out of HNL back to DFW many times. There was a midnight supper service with freshly baked cookies followed by Brunch before arrival in DFW. Great times! Great service! Great FA's!

If that was meant sarcastically, you definitely missed.

Jimntx's life experience, and knowledge of the "real world," makes him an asset to this forum, which is more than I can say for you.

You're obviously jealous because Jim was a success, and well respected, in all of his careers, and you're neither a success, nor well respected, in ONE career.

With the advent of OneWorld, there is no need for AA to go back into the relatively low-yield "Down Under" market with its own aircraft.

MIA-DTW gets a second nonstop back on 14DEC. Morning departure with an afternoon return

Hmmm, little do you know.

I agree with StraaightTaalk. Jim's contributions to AA and to this forum exceed yours by miles.

I'll join the Jim "love show". If he doesn't know, he asks. If he does know, he shares. And best of all, he is open minded enough to look at both sides of an issue, weigh the facts, and look for solutions. Sounds like a winner to me.

Why has AA not "participated" in the lucrative charter market? It was actually a cash positive part of TWAs operation. AA mangt. could have kept TWA as a separate charter division and probably have blown away other competition.Ball teams, both pro and college, fan charters, Vegas, Mexico, south in winter, north (to Alaska and Canada) in summer. Just curious.

Actually Nancy, I just found out the other day that there is a pretty active charter market. However, us peon f/as didn't know anything about it because the trips are never put in open time except as "after the fact already assigned trips". Seems there is a special list at SLT (don't know about other bases) of those who are worthy of working charters--for instance, I was told by a senior SLT f/a yesterday that if you have called in sick even once in the past 12 months, you can not work a charter for a minimum of 8 months following your last sick day.

By the way, thanks to you, StraaightTaalk, and FWAAA for the support. It is appreciated--though I have that person on ignore so, I don't ever read what he/she has posted about anything.
