Winter Timetable...new Services

Many moons ago TWA had a 707 route SFO-OAK-ORD. They never raised the landing gear out of SFO and word was the record was 3.5 minutes.

When I was a kid my Dad took me on one of these trips when he was in the left seat
but it was CVR 880 at that time. Great short hop.

American Airlines pulling mainline out of Pittsburgh

Oct 19, 2005 (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News via COMTEX) -- Citing lackluster demand and low revenues, American Airlines intends to close its mainline Pittsburgh operation in mid-December, furlough 77 employees and shift passengers from 136-seat jets to smaller 70-seat regional jets flown by affiliate commuter carrier American Eagle.

Do you know it we are going to resume service on DFW-CZM?

Mark,
I'm happy for any new AMR route, but I must admit that I find LGA/MSN, a somewhat peculiar route !!

NH/BB's

Same here; I wonder how it'll affect COEX's service to EWR. Ougtha be interesting to see how this one pans out.Not one word about this in any of the local media, BTW...Any idea on early bookings?

Hey MAH4546,

Any word on service between MIA-PHX yet?

I haven't heard any dates, but it is being planned. Hopefully summer 2006, but Miami-Phoenix is just one those routes that route planning always says "next season, next season" and never comes. Though the US/HP merger might put more pressure on AA to start this. MIA-PHX and MIA-SLC are the only legacy hub routes AA does not fly from Miami. Delta is starting Miami-Salt Lake City non-stops in two weeks (finally!), but I don't see AA following them.

Just because there's a "legacy hub" in a given city doesn't mean it makes good business sense for AA to fly either route. Having MIA as a destination from PHX and SLC is far more important to US/HP and DL respectively than it is for AA to have SLC as a destination from MIA.

MAH4546,

DFW People reports that AA is dumping the DFW-PVD nonstop because of the love field flights. Sabre confirms they are gone April 2, 06. As a frequent non-rev'er and often bumped non-rev'er of the route, any logical reason for dumping an always full plane with many business travelers on it?

Even business travelers are flying on discounted fares these days. Maybe there just aren't enough profitable fares to justify the route. But, I agree that the a/c are always full.
