Really? This again? Really? A little witch hunt and pecking party just to prove who's got the most union dedication and cred? We get it. You are all hardcore labor rollers. You all work harder and are more dedicated than these schlubs in PHX that hold secret midnight sacrifices before an underground TWU altar. You all look great in collared shirts and name tags. Great job.

It blows my mind the PHX GC not wanting to travel across the country to go and hang out with such a friendly group of tittering bloodthirsty hyenas. Maybe they figured they could better serve PHX membership by staying and focusing on local business; god knows there's probably enough of it. What Earth-shattering revelations did they miss? What information or materials were presented that couldn't be just as accessible on a webcast or transcript or meeting minutes?

We really have nothing better to discuss here than why Phyllis and Tanya didn't show up for tea?

Boy isn't that just a gas . they can't even handle getting their membership there CONTRACTUAL 30 MINUTE LUNCHBREAK. so might I suggest they PRESS THAT ISSUE. Management truly does control
this ramp what a huge difference from city to city . but yet we are still under the same contract

Sounds like somebody's been spending some time on ramp five. Or maybe you're just bitter because your move to PHX suddenly necessitates you having to learn how to perform a pushback? Shocked at having to get into the bin from time to time?

What a huge difference from city to city...

PHX ramp always did have a serious issue with the lack of lunch breaks. Sounds like it still does. It all depends on who the manager is. If it is MJ, don't expect a break. He explained to me once that if your gate line-up starts at 0500 and the gate is scheduled to be busy all day... and there is a lack of activity between 0500 and 0600...then that was your contractual break. You should have taken it then!

To LAS2PHX: You guys have no idea what kind of rat's nest you put your hands in. You should have gone to CLT or PHL. Count the days to when you can transfer.

PHX ramp has issues with it sometimes yeah. Bag room and CONX...no problem with it at all.

That man is insane. He'll run you into the ground given the chance. Him and the guy that usually do ramp 5 at night are probably the worst when it comes to not providing lunch breaks. I've never really had this be an issue with any of the other managers.

Ha ha, I heard one of the transfers refer to PHL as "[his] Vietnam" PHX is what you make it. Some of the new transfers hate it, some really like it. When you experience contract violations either grieve them or fill out an irregularity report or both. Every time, every day if you have to; they can make a difference.

They need to get a UL out there at night who actually knows what they're doing. Too bad all the good ones moved over to N1...

OK, congratulations. Being that the poster is from LAS, where I'm at, you've become the first person to actually offend me on this forum. Get down from your Ivory Tower, recognize that you're no better or worse then anyone else, and move on. I could point out a lot of failures in PHX, but I can let bygones be bygones. I don't know who that particular poster is, but LAS sent some kick ass rampers down to PHX. You should be honored to have them.

???? not quite sure what pushbacks have to do with lunch . Again part of the problem come to the GC with a problem and runs away from it with something I have no idea what your talking about
after all you are the GC aren't you ??

obvious violation of the contract . and the GC is babbling about pushbacks . Your right 28L hindsight is 20/20 for future considerations folks might want to do a little research on what station there going to
does this variation on contract violations happen to the east guys . Philadelphia says they have stewards on top of every little thing and the managers run for cover . Question if I put in for a lead job in say Philadelphia can I transfer or do I have to wait for the 1 year lock

This being the case I apologize. My post was very poorly conceived.

I believe you have to wait for your one year to be up before you can transfer, however, I would not recommend transferring anywhere as a lead. That's a whipping boy position regardless of where you go. That's just my opinion, of course.

As far as stewards and the relationship between fleet and management; they stay off our backs and we don't bother them with our pesky squabbles. Case in point: At PHX on the ramp and especially in the bag room, if someone has a beef with someone (eg. talking too much on the cell phone, reading a newspaper, co-worker is making faces -I'm serious, folks!-, etc.) they usually run straight to a manager and start tattling. That really bugs a manager as they have bigger fish to fry and they usually end up making a mountain out of a molehill. Often the accusation is pure fiction or just a gross exaggeration of the transgressions committed. Now at my station on the eastern seaboard, if you have a beef, you go to the union chair to explain your beef and he will pull that person aside and give them the dutch uncle, if he deems appropriate. He may also tell the accuser to chill out.
That keeps the managers fat and happy and they stay off of our backs.

One of my biggest problems with PHX is that you not only have to deal with hostile management but also snitching co-workers who will throw you straight under the bus. Ratting others out is a part of the culture. You have to watch your back as PHX fleet does eat their own.

Las2phx,

When it comes to lunches, has it been an issue in the past? Sure it has. The issue is that a shift manager will tell an employee no and that employee bitches or complains but doesn't seek out a shop steward or fight for their own rights. This is the employees fault for not fighting for their right or getting a shop steward involved. I'm sure that all cities have management personnel that will flex their power on the weak. You aren't letting this happen to you Las2phx are you?

We're all good :) You manned up, props.

If you transferred to PHX on the last furlough, you're stuck there for a year UNLESS you go Lead, then that's a promotion. As said there are reasons not o do that, only you can make the decision however.
