Did you all watch the FA Crew News Session that was just posted?

1. Thanks, Mike, for continuing the fight for proper crew rest facilities. Kirby says that if they actually have to install flight attendant crew bunks, they won't fly the flights over 12 hours. Because of crew bunk installation, the flights to TLV would suddenly become "unprofitable". Funny, Continental installed the crew bunks, and their flights seem to make money.... Call their bluff, Mike. Enough is enough.

2. Watch the question entitled "A La Carte Beverages", almost at the bottom of the FA session. This "Beverly Leslie" looking trainer blasts the union for fighting to return complimentary bevs, even though the union had nothing to do with the re- implementation of the bevs. He whines and moans that flight attendants have "so much more to do....!!!" Wah. It's a beverage service, something we have provided for decades....

Let me get this straight: We have trainers in Charlotte that are whining that the flight attendants are SO overwhelmed from having to do a BEVERAGE service, or perhaps two, on a flight? My STARS! How lazy and non customer oriented can one be? And this from a TRAINER IN THE CHARLOTTE TRAINING CENTER??? I'll tell you what was overwhelming, "Tom": PHL-PIT breakfast. THAT was busy. A bevvie service on PHL- BOS is a no brainer.

You are an embarrassment to the training department, as well as line flight attendants throughout the system.

Another question: With regards to the crew rest facilities, could someone point me to the area in the contract where they have to provide more than what they are providing for TLV? I can't seem to find it, but that does not mean it's not there.....

my understanding is it's not a bluff. fine let them cancel tlv because they are understanding they bit off more than they can chew. take it to the ground Mike. you are talking to the tempe dog catchers wanting them to purchase a full breed Cocker Spaniel. these people only eat at Denny's and at 32 years old are still looking for the kids menu.

Baja,

Could you point me to the language in the contract or sideletter which states our current crew rest facilities are inadequate? Thank you.

it a new route and we have never flown super long haul so it had to be negotiated. in the past we followed industry standard on these issues but it seems these amatures want to ignore past practice and abritrations awards. this is something totally new our contract so it is not in there at present.

Ok, that's what I thought. Thanks for the clarification. As I recall, Continental had a similar issue, and had to install crew bunks for FA's?

The only reason CO installed the crew bunks is because the IAM filed a grievance and took them to arbitraition and won it, CO refused to install them too.

Understood. And that is what I was referring to. I'd be interested to see from what platform the IAM argued: Did the CO FA's already have language in their contract, or was the "super long haul" a new concept to them as well? In essence, how strong is AFA's position, since we currently have no "super long haul" flying?

But the IAM/CO FA CBA had the crew rest area language in the CBA.

It is was clear before but it is CRYSTAL CLEAR now the position management takes on flight attendants needing a crew rest facility. To that Doug and Scott I say THANK YOU. What a fantastic group looking over their employees. I said it a long time ago and will again...."Let's have YOU stand at your desk with no chair to work. Then when it is time to rest we'll put you in a chair that only reclines a few inches. The merry go round answers or lack thereof was an embarrassment. Again THANK YOU. Your line in the sand is drawn.

Now as for "Tom" the trainer. You my little friend are NOT the voice of flight attendants. I'm not going to rehash and have another debate about beverage sales but YOU are another embarrassment at this company. Sadly among the actual flight attendant group. How G'damn lazy ARE you "Tom"? I know you or friends in training read this and just want you to know that "I" sure as hell do NOT feel the same way buddy. What a pansy kiss :censored:

  Take your ball and go home Scott! Stomp your feet really hard so we get the full scope of your tantrum. That's fine with me. Didn't want to fly it in the first place  If you loose the case can we please all have a video feed of you in the meeting with the Israel government informing them you are pulling out because your "hired help" needed a place to rest? They would laugh you out of the room and then imagine the shockwave on future route applications at the DOT? What a bunch of clowns.

Agreed! Remember what I mentioned awhile back about Phoenix Supervisors threatening punitive action against Flight Attendants who were caught wearing facemasks during the SARS outbreak?

Well, they are back to their old tricks again!! They have been telling FAs in Phoenix that under NO circumstances may Flight Attendants wear protective masks at any time on the aircraft!! This includes flights to/from Mexico!

Typical "rule through fear and intimidation" by our Supervisors in Phoenix!

So the brand is basicaly "trying to do what you are at minimum supposed to do"? Wow. An on-time flight with bags included is a brand?

That trainer made a giant ass of himself. The union merely expressed an opinion of what they felt was right for the success of the company and obviously it only took a few months to prove them right. They are very few F/As that feel that way but they love to bring it up if they find one. Parker and Kirby come off as cocky and completely misguided when they keep moaning about the fact that no one followed. That particular trainer is the weakest link at that training center, his knowlege is not on par with his peers and his teaching skills leave a whole lot to be desired.

Beach is right, they are not going to stop long-haul flights because they have to follow a rule. Although in spirit I agree- if you can't do it the way you are supposed to do it, then don't do it at all. These crew news sessions do more damage to morale than anything.

Well I can't WAIT to see the outcome of the crew rest issue. So they are seriously going to limit themselves to flights that do not extend over 12 hours SIMPLY because they are to cheap to install it? They could have installed the rest bunk or planned for the bunk rather while the aircraft were in the factory. NOPE so now they face the possibility of retrofitting the a/c. So they will pull the TLV service and all of the bookings if they lose? Is it any wonder to you people that are in HQ WHY....just WHY the natives don't care for you? YOU as management set the tone. I know I hear it loud and clear.
