AMFA getting it done

Return the money? I'm still waiting for the rest thats still missing! Don't you remember? We were getting everything back with the early openers in 2006, Sonny Hall said he will not rest until we get it all back and before that "dont worry we got a Me Too Clause with the pilots" .

That is correct, I too, remember when Sonny stated that. BTW what is Sonny doing now days??

As I read that statement, I wonder if you realize, this is your card drive, and AMFA is only what YOU make it to be.

It is only in the industrial union that the union is seperate from the member. With AMFA, it is all you and your coworkers, not some dues collection institution that removes your power and controls the direction.

And I wonder if you realized I have signed a card four times, once twice for the same drive because the orginizer lost them,......I know all about AMFA and want it NOW !

I think the time is here for AMFA to get it done. If I am wrong, someone pls correct me, but, AMFA needs to get in now so they can be the union representing the AA mechanics during this merger. Why? Because if the TWU and IAM did in fact reach some kind of "behind closed doors deal" to relinguish membership in trade of another groups of membership, as we have all heard, then you guys need to move quickly. If the membership wants a say so as well as full involvement, you better get AMFA in so you guys can sit in on the nego's and actually be a part of your future. Otherwise, you guys will have to deal with what the TWU will deliver for you, as well as direct how you guys will integrate. THE TIME FOR AMFA IS NOW!!!

Exactly,....Informer totally misread my post,....it happens now during this process or never.....maybe after the 10 years!

Bob you sure like to twist. I guess I could compare the less pay Fleet Service Clerks Make!! We get a potential raise and you always find fault. Better yet how about returning the money?

In Solidarity,

CIO

Feel free to "untwist" it.

Gotcha. It must be nice. Thx for clarifying.

AMFA/Southwest Airlines Contract Negotiations Update #6

The Negotiating Committee is providing this update to the AMFA Membership at Southwest Airlines. This is the only official authorized source of negotiating communications by the Committee.
On January 24th and 25th we met with the Company in the newly erected Women in Aviation Conference Room at the Hangar in Dallas. We were scheduled for a full day of negotiations on Thursday and a half day on Friday. We began discussions on the Maintenance Control classification work definition for Article 4. The main point of contention centered on the Company’s ability make changes to the group’s work. After several hours of working together and explaining each side’s concerns, we decided to separate and caucus amongst our own groups. We met with the Company after lunch and were able to tentatively agree (TA) on this item with provisions that any changes to the Maintenance Controller’s work that was not typical to the industry must be mutually agreed upon by the Company and designated MOC shop representative. We would like to thank Steve Day and Rob Cush for their involvement on this issue, and look forward to their invaluable input in the future as well.
We continued Thursday afternoon working on the Technical Support Mechanic classification’s work description. We proposed adopting the second paragraph of Letter of Agreement (LOA) #8 to be used in Article 4 for their job description, but the Company thought more discussion was needed as they had concerns with staffing, qualifying, and backfilling issues.
Prior to ending the day on Thursday, the Company wanted to present their proposed changes to Article 8. We proceeded to discuss these changes to ensure the Company’s intents were understood. We will present a counter proposal to their Article 8 changes when we meet at our next session.
Friday began with a Fuel Conservation Program presentation. Following the presentation, we spent the rest of the morning working on the Technical Support Mechanics’ job description. More discussions took place on paragraph two of LOA #8. The Company said they would work with the LOA #8 language and present it to us during our next session.
We also took some time with the Company to evaluate where we are in negotiations to this point. Articles 22, 23, 25, 26, and 27 have only minor housekeeping or clarification issues which the Company will present at our next session. At this time, Articles 1, 12, and 28 are TA’d and Articles 4, 8, and 17 are in work.
Our side continues to be committed and is making a concerted effort to reach an agreement that addresses the concerns of our Members and the Company. Our Committee would like to thank the observers that took the time to attend.
Sincerely,
Your Negotiating Committee

AMFA getting it done............very very slowly.

This from a Teamster supporter at Ual who's seniority intergration process has taken nearly 3 years and that is with the teamsters representing both Ual & Cal basicly negotiating {arguing} with themselves and still cannot get it done.Lets not forget that AMFA is negotiating to increase what is already industry leading wages, how easy do you think it will be to go for fifty plus dollars an hour while the IBT at Ual just negotiated a new deal that is 6 to 7 dollars a hour less than what they already make to say nothing of the Twu giving the farm away again at AA. Please keep talking you are one of our best organizers for AMFA.

At this pace, SWA will have a new contract by 2025.

And by 2025 we probably still wont break $45, what they are getting now,(as written we will only be making $37.61 in 2018, figure four years at that rate as Don stalls negotiations by taking the High Road and remaining "credible", that brings us to 2022, then three 3% increases on the base and that would bring us up to around $40.50/hr by 2025 on our next ten year contract). We still probably wont see up to $6/hr license premiums, $1.30 longevity, $2.23 Lead pay, 15% profit sharing (in 2012 they averaged $3500) , 1% productivity bonus if they work 1750 hours in a year, doubletime, 14% medical with 100% coverage after $25 copay. 9.3% 401K match!, 12 holidays at 2.5 x, 12 sick days per year, company paid LTD, 15 weeks IOD etc, etc. Of course we can hope that we actually get to keep the Mid term wage adjustment and hope our peers do what we couldnt and they negotiate raises for us but all those other things would still leave us at the bottom of the industry.

With the position we, the mechanics at AA, UA and US, put the mechanics in SWA in stalling would make sense. We damaged the profession so badly that if they ended up in a PEB they would likely see cuts. At AA we would have likely seen something in between SWA and UAL out of a PEB but instead our International chose to stall, and stall and stall and keep us at the bottom until the company filed BK. Then they told the members that it did not matter that we were at the bottom, we still had to give as much as everyone else.

Yep I bet those guys over at SWA wish they were at UAL, AA or US!!!

What is the rush?
We just got a contact raise Aug 16 2012.
We are negotiating what our rates we be starting Aug 16 2013 and will not be due retro pay until then.

We are not in a hurry and don't expect a quick TA.
You and the TWU are the only ones that I have heard that are concerned with the pace of our negotiations.
Around here it is a non-issue.

When the teamsters were here they didn't get any quick deals.
They stayed behind closed doors, gave us no information and when they finally brought something out, they said "you better vote for it, its all your gonna get".

Good riddance.
