Gary Richardson has been reading the debates in the AFA66 Message boards. Here is his response:
Hi all- This is a good topic for debate, I have read the thread and understand alot of the frustration here. Let me give you my perspective.
Section 6 negotiations were tabled by the Federal Mediator in December. What this means is that these negotiations are put on hold and the parties were told to attempt to negotiate a single agreement. If we cannot reach a single agreement, then we can go back to our Section 6 negotiations. That will always be an option for us. The question we have to ask ourselves, is that time now?
We are currently in Single talks that are moving slowly; with simple issues not yet resolved. The much larger issues of Pay, benefits, vacations, scheduling, etc., are upcoming. We need to be in a position of strength when we reach these sections. The best way to show that Strength is when both west and east are united with a common goal.
We play exactly into Parkers hand of cost neutral if we say, lets just take our current contract. The Company would like nothing better to isolate the two groups, so they can avoid a unified fight for a better contact.
I believe now is the time to fight the unified fight. I ask you to join with me in that fight. It is not going to be easy, but nothing worth while ever is. - Gary
So this means, no seperate contracts so we might as well be united with this and try to work it out. Sorry if I opened up a can of worms!
I know it wasn't that bad. I would like to see the hightime/low time self adjust/DPU done through seniority and the personal trades as first come, first serve though.

Prior to the contract, the old DPU system was by seniority. It was'nt that bad.
