THE RESERVE SYSTEM

Most of the RSV's at US are just used to fly trips BH don't want to. It has always been that way. We used to have at least 13% of the trips held back for a bid sheet. That would have been alot of blocks for RSV's. I think it states now, no more than 10% for the bid sheet. Maybe our union will be more receptive this time toward RSV concerns. They must be feeling the heat. I brought stuff up to our CLT LECP before and even suggested having round table meetings to solicit ideas from RSV's and he said that the union wouldn't want to do that. It's called being proactive. Usually a good step. One pass month sounds good, even two, but that passing all month crap should have never been allowed. We should all want to be productive members of the same team. Thats what helps create a strong workforce. We had people who would tell you to your face that they didn't want to work at all. They were always a blast to fly with, if they ever flew. All they did was complain they had to fly 4 or 5 days. I also think we should be able to have out senoirity back, even as a RSV. We have earned it.
I like hearing all the ideas here, good and bad. Now hopefully our union will listen because if they don't hear this, we have some rough air ahead.

What do you guys think about rotating reserve with an immunity seniority of 15 years? AA has it and it works well. I know for a fact LA in PHL AFA said not only no to rotating reserve but H### NO. I think it's time we right a wrong and stop dumping on the reserves. Understand who we have echoing our voice out there. LA I am willing to bet doesn't represent us or what we want.

Hey, here's a good one. My LECP suggested that I do quick call to get my time in. Right, just what a 17 year f/a should have to do. Anybody remember "Central"?

1) Two passes a month ...then we'd get passing back and people that abused the old system wouldn't be able to pass the whole month and not fly.

2) You can only be assigned one out of base trip per month until EVERYONE in the base has flown their out of base trip.

I wouldn't be adverse to doing rotating RSV either....

All I can say about our union is just you watch...RSVs will get sc#ewed as usual. I've heard that the head of our AFA scheduling commitee Carol A. has said that she doesn't "have time" to bother with RSV blocks...

A long time ago I gave up thinking that our union works for us when I've seen them work against us way too many times .....

West Changes....

This AUTO problem. Its not bad that our Line Holders have AUTO ability however for them to always auto lineholders and make them call at 1200 midnight and then call reserves at 0400 for a airport ready sit/hot room reserve sit at 0600. Also they should make Line holder only be able to auto before 900pm the night before. Then Reserves would be able to get some sleep and actually know what trips/or shift they will be working.
Stand by our shifts A/B/C if you pick a shift... DONT give me C. I pick A for a reason.
Also Dont keep tagging me over and over for some HELL HOLE Of a turn to SNA with a 757 that will break when I am going into my GD day....
Also fix this tagging system.. Its ok to tag once but NO More Than ONCE. PERIOD.
Also a small percent should be on rotating RESERVE... Its like when Line Holders get there line they always and forever forget about RESERVES..... And make stupid comments... I was on RESERVE and (ITS YOUR JOB... GET OVER IT OR QUIT)
Also dont call in for your trip and take my assigned parring away from me.
Hold the sched acountable for yelling at me. I am a human not a robot. If I was to treat every passenger like you treated me then US Airways "WOULD NOT BE FLYING".
Also dont give me the crap "FLY and GREIVE IT" If its a Contract Vol. Take me off or fix the trip so you dont break the contract.
Treat Reserves like Humans... If I called you in the morning and and yelled at you...

Also full dead head pay for reserves on the east. Bring the Reserves (new hires at least to 18/20 dollars an hour) I can't afford my gas to get to and from my cheep apt to cover your stupid trips. I need a better starting out wage.

Also Dont treat a Senior Reserve as if they are just off the block... Treat eachother with respect.

Release me when I am done, no calling scheduling and asking.

No auto. Either give me the entire trip or keep it.

Forcing me to work on my days off should result in higher pay.

Full deadhead pay.

Ohh Ohh I know...how about a minimum day! Remember when some stupid split paid a full 5:00 hours...now they could pay 1:30 or so. That is complete BS! The RSV called to work said trip should be paid a full 5:00 hours!

BH's used to say "any one day". That was util they were doing 1+15 one days. Now they usually say " one day, 4+00 hours". That way a RSV can have that crap trip. Another fine thing we got stuck with.

Yeah gotta love coming to work for $40.00 bucks or so!

My F250 truck sucks on gas. IU wish I could tell them 2.5 hours minimum. I might break even. Things will change. Our union reps are going to be hearing more and more from us. And I love it. Someone is going to answer for this. I enjoy making people be accountable for their words and actions. I've been here too long to put up with the BS. Heads are gonna roll my friend. I guarantee that. There will be no stopping this RSV tide that is forming. Can you feel the undertoad?

Here is a true fantasy. If you are on reserve, you can (once the ETB opens)build a block out of open time. Using ON DUTY days. If every reserve was vying for any/all open trips dumped by blockholders, all the trips(even crappy ones) would be gone. If you want to sit on duty and get only 73 min. then you could, but be subject to quick calls. I would like the trips pay credit too. I haven't thought out all the kinks yet, but some lucky people could snap up enough time to "time out". First come first served, since no one has seniority anyway. To please the idiots above, if you call out sick for the month you only can claim min guarentee(not build a 120 hour month then sick it). Would this work??

You missed the point of why the company wanted ( demanded) the LTO reserve system. They wanted to prevent reserves from "timing out".

The worst possible thing that can happen to us is allowing the union reps that are senior BH that never fly the line or walk in our shoes continue to make these choices and decisions for us. They always negotiate in favor of the BH. The ETB was implemented after the options were dropped. Creating and allowing a BH to drop down to lower time. For the Reserves the ETB is great if you don't mind sacraficing your personal life for the extra money. I believe there are many favorable solutions and I have read some great ideas. I do not have faith in our union leader! I do not trust him to protect and fight for the Reserves. This has been apparent since he took office. I am afraid to see what he has given up and taken from the Reserves out in Tempe as they reconfigure the scheduling system and ETB for the 24/7. He will probably want the Reserves to pay for his hotel room. I guess I sound a little aggrivated. Going on eighteen years of this bullsh#*t is about fifteen to many. Sorry, just venting.
