West F/A's wants a seperate contract ?

Until Dougie decided we were going to operate on seperate certificates I think most west folks were willing to neg. to get a new combine contract. Now, that management has changed its tune, west folks just WANT a contract!

I met the FA of the year not too long ago in PHX. I saw her coming out of security and went up and introduced myself. Gracious lady and she was excited about the merger, etc.
The poster that said easties snubbed him(903 again??) is not to be taken personally. I have been beelining out of the airport and thinking of a 100 tasks that need to be done at home. I'm sure I walked by my own airline crewmembers and did not say "hi". Geez.

When we on the East saw Jerry Glass on the payroll we collectively puckered our a$$es. Cuz something big and painful is a comin!!!!
 
With everything said so far, the only thing I don't see is the gravity of reality. The only side,(East or West) thats making money is the East. Westies don't get it. America West wouldn't have survived the year if it wasn't for the merger. USAirways would have gone chapter 7. The merger is good for both parties. Now that the merger has taken place the combined partners are making money. LCC has money in the bank. Better credit ratings(allowing better interest rates when borrowing). And above all a CEO that wants to see the airline survive and prosper.

Instead of bashing the East, you should be wanting to grasp the concept of a meaningful combined contract. One both sides can be happy with and prosper. Dave will have a hard time negotiating a contract worth no monitary increase in value when the company in the first 6 months has made nearly 400 million dollars. If this continues the trend, LCC should break the Billion dollar level in profits. Let us not under estimate the value of what this means.

The company would love to have the flight attendants divided. East, West, North, South whatever. Combining efforts on both sides has a greater speaking voice than one. If you, as a flight attendant can over the fact that AWA is no longer a viable entity, you could go on to see better things down the road. Its great to remember what once was. But that is in the past. Live in the here and now. Get over it... Use your energy to speak a UNIFIED voice. Not DIVIDED...

THANK YOU.....let's all be UNITED and get a good contract.....this movement on the WEST side for a separate contract is a small group of junior FA's...they are so concerned about their jobs....you should read the AFA West discussion board....the same ones keep bashing the EAST side....many of us have learned to ignore them...plus for the East side...I read on this board how many of you think we are all young and junior on the West side...AWA was around for 24years and about one third of us FA's on the West side have 20+ years with the company...so many of us have been here for a long time for a company thats only be around for 20+ years.....we stuck it out and want a FAIR CONTRACT and let's be united with this...the company I'm sure want's us divided...

Very nicely said. There are strength in numbers. The West needs to realize one thing, their partners on the East has been screwed by management so many times they cant even bend over any more. They are ready to fight for a fair contract. LCC has cash in the bank, they are operating in the black. You have a dog in the fight too, so you can sit back and whine or you can jump on board with your counter parts in the East and come out swinging. I say, we want NO we deserve the best contract in the industry. We took two failing airlines and turned it into a money maker in one year. Management didn't do that by themselves, in fact I'd say they had very little to do with that.

So, enough with the East vs West crap. Whats done is done, lets move on and put all this energy into fighting the company not each other!

Well, I would be glad to help them look for a place in PHL...Chester is a really up and coming part of Delaware County and you can get great bargains on real estate.

I don't think there really are that many that want to go to PHX. More want into LAS! What they fail to realize is we on the East are settled, not many are willing to uproot their families and move, thats why everyone is commuting. Besides that PHL is where the best flying is at. I am not heading to PHX, unless they start flying Asia out of there...hmmmmmm :shock:

First of all, how dare you say that we don't care about our own over here. We know that our RVs are treated like garbage by scheduling and the company. Our reserves and new hires are treated with respect and dignity over here by their fellow crewmembers.
I hate to incite further argument, but I'd love to hear from an actual HP reserve on that comment.

After reading all the division and anger...some my own...I now conclude that they have WON!!

Not for nothing, but Jerry Glass has made a living dividing labor groups and DP hired that worm to do the same thing. We on the East know the DIVIDE AND CONQUER tactic VERY well. Glass and Parker now see a weak link in the f/a's. They know that many on the East are too whipped to care and many on the West will believe the fears and threats. BINGO!!...No unity and management wins!

I have been angered at some of the West because of the lies and missinformation here and the opinion that the West should stoop to the East lower level. PLEASE...PLEASE...someone quote where someone the East sincerely stated (and not in a fit I anger like I am guilty of) that they can't wait to take over the flying of the west and all the LIES that have been stated about East wanting it their way.

In the last few months, every change I have seen has gone the way of the West. I could care less. Change is always inevitable so it's no big deal.

Westies, I am in support of a singe contract that takes the BEST of BOTH contracts. SCREW cost neutreal!! Who is feeding the West the croc that you guys should give a damnn thing?? Who?? Please help me undestand because as it stands we are negotiating ONE contract and we have the ability to perform ONE CHAOS if negotiations fail. We are not in Ch. 11, so threats will NOT work..AND oil continues to fall so that excuse is now GONE!! BUH BYE!! I will vote NO on ANY contract that takes a dime from the Westies!!! PERIOD!!

I had a AA f/a on a flight the other day and I got the displeasure of seeing their contract. Their pay topped out is $50 an hour!! Yes, boys and girls..FIVE ZERO!!! Anything flown over 75 hrs is paid at $58 dollars an hour!! They are paid 100% DH and guess what? AA is making money and they still have a pension.

So if anyone here thinks a seperate contract will do anything good for the new US Airways, I have a piece of land in the Everglades that will perk.

I want to go on the record in saying I am sorry for any remarks that have come out of anger or missunderstanding. I realize here that it is VITAL that we stick together and FIGHT for a single contract. A HOUSE DIVIDED WILL FALL!!! We MUST start a campaign between East and West showing our UNITY!! Do any of you on the West REALLY believe we want you to adopt one bit of our crappy contract?? If that is the case, then you need to come over to visit us because you must REALLy have a low opinion of the East f/a's.

One thing I have learned about union leaders. They are all egotistical boobs that do not have the welfare of its membership in mind, but their own self promotion. That is true of both East AND West MEC Pres. Of COURSE, they will look to discredit the other side. They have alot to loose. Teddy on the East was the only TRUE leader we had and the jealous wannabees like the jerk East MEC Pres ousted here. IT's ALL POLITICS!!

Separate contracts are not an option. Section 6 negotiations are not an option. Our MEC has stated this. We will have a single contract - who knows when, but that's the way it is.

East won, West lost and will always lose when it comes to the contract.
