"Pay, as in dollars/hour not hours. Without looking it up, cashing in sick band pays about $13-14 per/hour as a lump sum. Using it to offset medical, including COBRA, pays about $18/hour for the time on one's sick bank. Of course, using it up prior to retirement pays the rate of whatever a pilot is flying. However, using sick bank up is easier said than done if one has a significant amount of sick time. Maybe you need to be more familiar with the contract you work under." Jim.

It appears to me that Jim may be fishing to get the less astute members of this board to admit to doing something illegal, unethical, and not espoused by our bargaining agent. Sick time is EXACTLY that. It is NOT a means to an end to obfuscate the retirement age and get away with "milking" a system of 1 and 1/2 years of work. I use sick time for its negotiated purpose. I am certain that the VAST majority here do the same, regardless of questionable posts previously written.

Not at all. This started when Al Legheny said accumulated sick bank was lost at retirement so east of pilots would begin depleting their accumulated sick bank starting next summer. I corrected that, only to be jumped on by 767intl as being wrong on all counts (some seem spring loaded to say that anything someone says must be wrong if that person doesn't agree with them on the Nic). So the post you quoted was explaining the contract as it pertains to sick bank to 767intl.

I was not "fishing" for anything, merely correcting an incorrect post. If anyone was "fishing" it was Al Legheny, who said that accumulated sick bank disappeared at retirement (i.e., pilots better use it up before retirement). So if you're going to attack anyone, attack him. Oh, that's right - you can't do that because he agrees with you on the Nic, so you attack me for something I didn't do...

Hold on now. That sounds like an ENORMOUS assumption you slipped in there. Do you have any proof to back up that assumption?

Sounds like you are saying that your pension was terminated to make the merger possible, and as such you deserve credit for it. Maybe you would be entitled to something in return if you have proof that the merger was the sole driving motive for termination. I doubt you do, considering that every airline that went through bankruptcy in recent years emerged with terminated (or at least frozen) pensions in order to secure exit financing. With US being in BK for the second time in 2 years, there was plenty of documented information showing the need (or creditor's demand) to terminate the pensions in order to emerge. That was regardless of the merger. If US had found financing absent the merger, the pensions still would have been terminated.

Let's be clear about this. Your pension termination had to do with the financial crisis US was in at the time, and probably also the political landscape, but not the merger. It was a casualty of bankruptcy, not the merger. Just like the rest of us who visited the courts during the last administration. (Notice that GM and Chrysler's BK was much more labor friendly, and less friendly to the creditors.)

I'm not saying that all airline management at the time did not have their cross-hairs on our pensions during the BK fiesta. I also think that they planned to terminate them even if there was a creative way to save them. Saying it made the merger happen is complete stretch of the truth.
Did you read the Seabury Group summary? You probably don't know what is going on in any of our pension. I bet you did not even see what was in the Seabury analysis, that stated flatly- the biggest obstacle to the merger was the USAirways Pension Plan.Did you read the Wall Street Jounal article how inaccurate assumptions were used by Towers Perrin to make it look worse than it was? Secondly, have you talked with Mark Butler and our group investigating this? I am sure not. Did you know anything about what was going on within our pension with regard to real estate movements and offshoring? I am sure not again. So do some due diligence on your serious hobby of OUR careers before you continue to stick your opinions on, and tell us to HOLD ON. UAL was in even deeper trouble with your pension. Just have a little patience Jetzz. Let us bring our investigation to a close, OUR investigation. The more I read of your posts, the more convinced I am that you really don't know what is going on here, nor do we care. Your post is fraught with inaccuracies and lack of knowledge. Just wait. There was massive manipulation going on with our pension, and from what I have heard, the PBGC has already made one settlement offer that was refused by our side.

While there were discussions with HP management in 2004, the pension was terminated in 2003. Do you have anything concrete showing that the two were connected or just more BS.

Jim
A true ALPA guy through and through. It was all above board wasn't it. Just like they told you. Don't bother looking into it after all, just trust us down here at Herndon. After all, with the average salary of the top 10 averaging about 350k a year, don't look too closely. Trust us, and you will.

Of course he didn't. The jury ruled in favor of the plaintiffs that brought suit against the fake union.
Oh, you mean the FAKE, 2 million dollar jury award, from a court case that never even should have taken place? But the award was from the plaintiffs to their lawyers.

You know, trying to discuss these subjects with someone who has clearly failed to read the entire 9th decision (vs. taking the text out of context) just isn't worth the bandwidth....

Hope you like your new boobs.
Thanks...I will. They're not actually mine, but I'll enjoy 'em all the same.

I gotta say, when I first read your post, I thought maybe the west guys had gotten new lawyers. Then, I realized you were referring to my post.

Then don't discuss it someone that hasn't read it. Seems simple enough. I've read it several times myself. I find it VERY interesting, with LOADS of insight into just how BAD Judge Wake fouled it up, and how stupid the west lawyers are for pleading for damages.

Here we are, back at that reading comprehension issue again. You are really entertaining, Oldie.

I'll bet Jerry Seinfeld can find you a "manzierre". More money well spent by Oldie.
Why would a lady friend of mine need a "manzierre"?

Just think of how many subscriptions to the "Evelyn Wood Speed Reading course" someone could buy for 1.8 mil+. That would certainly help you and some of your West buddies with the reading comprehension issue you've been having. I suggest you just take it slow when reading the Ninth's decision. It'll really put a lump in your throat, and possibly tears to your eyes. Hard to watch your lottery ticket get torn up, right in front of your face.

On second thought, I guess I could use several of those "manzierre"s. I could send them to those "boobs" you westies call a legal team.

This guy asked a question on recalls and it seems that nobody cares about the furloughed pilots. We all need to stop the continuing fighting among us and really work on getting a contract which we can all benefit from, sometime in my lifetime.............

or....

He asked if anyone had information on recalls.

Did you ever consider the possibility that no one here has that information, and maybe THAT'S why his question went unanswered?
