TWU to hold news conference on Jan 30 to announce plans to save TULE jobs

By the way DFW local 565 put out a invite for all the presidents to meet at our hall prior to going to the meeting on wednesday to atleast try to put a united face on the union I bet you can guess what locals have not responded to the request. the backstabing has just begun for real.

Don't go defending your idiots. They are not much better than my idiots.
It is too late to get a "united face" on this union and that is a worthless request.
Making that request at this time is nothing more than straw grasping after it is too late.

I have no idea what WE are going to do about it.
I spent five years right beside you throwing every idea I had at it, and in the end was shafted by the Federal Government.
I dont know!

The problem is that we'll never know the truth.

One thing is for sure, is that those posting here from the position of never having the opportunity to be represented by the TWU really do not understand that there is no similarity to other unions. Not even a political similarity. The philosophy of the TWU creates dissension within it's own ranks, especially in the time of turmoil. Do you really believe that old style unionism is going to make the membership give so that one group will protect the other?

Yep, just watched the news, it was indeed a website.

AMAZING

I am embarrased, it ranks right up there with the coffin on a trailer,

State Representative Eric Proctor who encouraged everyone to add their name to the I support American jobs website.

"All they're asking for is their community to stand with them as one voice."

A voice that tells public officials, media outlets and community leaders that employees at American airlines must be treated fairly, and no attacks of pension funds. Representative Proctor also made another request.

"I call on the people of Tulsa and the entire state to join me in praying for the families of American Airlines, their relatives, everyone included in the AMR family and also praying for wisdom for those making these decisions.

Every person in the United States could sign that website and that will not change what AA has to do now.

I agree. Just pasted as a current event

Fair enough, but my point is that if AMR was to worry about labor and a website, they will face a competetive offer in BK court and none of us will be working for AA when the dust settles from that.

AA has no choice but to come up with a plan, and saving jobs is not in that plan.
Reduction and cost restructuring is now the main goal. And the vultures from other groups are watching to see that plan.

The Union has very little say in what is going to happen. And a website is not going to help anything, but it does demonstrate the fear TWU has about this process.

They (TWU) also had a similar web based petition regarding the MOC jobs moving to HDQ, it changed nothing, just as this one will not matter.

Wrong, we did sign enough cards, we were cheated out of an election....period.
Stop beating yourself and the rest of us up over that dead issue.

The TWU is doing what the TWU does best....mere postering. And nothing more.
Epitome of paper tigers....

The PBGC has been fighting like hell since this mess was announced in November. The TWU on the other hand has been more docile as usual. Sad very Sad indeed.

Well atleast mine can present a intelligent argument and while you are correct it want make much difference it is always a good idea to present yourself as proffesionally as possible and that was the only point they where trying to make.

Well, all the PBGC has been doing is issuing press releases and otherwise making noise. The fact still remains that they really can't stop the court from approving a termination or a freeze if the numbers show that it is in the best interest of the company's restructuring.

It's an odd strategy on their part. How would you guys be responding if HP or JP Morgan were out lobbying like this to make sure they didn't take a financial haircut?...

PBGC isn't a savior -- they're an insurance company. AA's been paying premiums for decades.

Would all you guys be cheerleading quite so loudly if it were United Healthcare, State Farm or Allstate out actively campaigning for you not to file a claim on a policy you'd paid into?...
