US Airways announced that it had reached agreements for collective bargaining agreements

Its an arranged marriage. Lucy will be offered terms she can't refuse. NIC and DOH were asleep at the well.
Kind of what I figured. Lucy will get what she makes now nothing more, while the rest of the wedding party gets delta +3%. And just to be clear in this, East and West are Lucy in this scenario.

What do you think that 7 year fence is for? Parker can just say that he can't afford to bring the US folks up to the AA folks level right away but in 7 years should be able to do it....got all those creditors to make happy first...

Yep. And in another 7 years he has 300ish less west and 1600ish less east guys to worry about.

I figure its status quo for east and west until the 7 year fence is up.

I haven't seen the agreements but isn't it possible that this whole thing is a ploy to get a better deal with their current management?

Ummmmm, no.

We'll be APA members and under a new contract before the end of the year.

But if you personally want to stay on LOA93, be our guest.

Since the Nic was never implemented and is non existent, it will be a three way SLI and Move to CLT will be Fenced to PHX for seven more years. Bummer!

Absolutely, and vice versa. Every player better be playing their heart out. In the end everyone will take the best deal that shakes out.

AA-US Airways: Our Best Alternative

(Please note: APA Phone Watch has been activated. If you have any questions about today's news, call 817-302-2399. In addition, click here to visit the AA-US Airways Merger page on ....EDITED DUE TO LENGTH.....their ability to “cash in” following American Airlines’ emergence from Chapter 11. Clearly we can expect significant opposition to what your APA leadership believes to be the best course of action for our collective futures.
Wow, I want to meet the person who edited this APA report!

This course of action by the APA has the makings of a leadership seminar case study.

On the part of the AA unions? Certainly - they may just be playing along to gain some leverage in their bargaining with AA management. But if you're saying that Parker is just playing along with the AA unions so those unions will have some leverage I would seriously doubt that. No management hires advisors and puts so much effort into making a potential merger sound so advantageous just to help another company's unions. Parker desperately wants this merger no matter how many times he says that US is in a position to prosper on it's own. Whether he succeeds or not remains to be seen, but I think Parker has his game plan all laid out and so far it doesn't seem that the US employee's role is that of a bench warmer. No star QB job for USAPA...

Would that fence prevent Parker from expanding the USAirways side of the operation (with its much lower wages) at the expense of the AA side (with its much higher wages)? Reason I ask is that APA has a track record of not tolerating lower-paid divisions at the same company: the APA sickout over the Reno Air acquistion was the response.

AA has 16 777s on the way beginning later this year plus the 460 Airbus and Boeing narrowbodies. Imagine the reaction of the APA membership if any of those were added to the US-side.

16 posts in 8 years and you use one to make a statement that shows your complete lack of knowledge in regards to the only accepted system seniority list at LCC?

Bummer!
