TOMMORROW WE BEGIN!

They did more than merely extend the Reamsters contract at WN.
They made some changes/enhancements. WN is doing well financially, so they were able to make some changes to an otherwise decent contract. They're gen happy with AMFA over there-not a chance of going back to Reamsters.
AS is a small niche carrier a fraction of the size of the legecys. They do well financially too. Apparently they're pretty happy with what they have achieved w AMFA too. They focus on keeping the compensation UP for M&R, rather than employing more at a pathetic rate. Something foreign to ind unions---
"loaf a bread costs the same".... BS mantra.
WN CEO Kelly comments at MRO Conf.

Southwest Airlines announced recently it is raising ticket prices to offset the high cost of jet fuel. Several other big U.S. airlines are following Southwest's lead.

Kelly also warned on the "escalation trend" in maintenance costs, saying that the trend needs to be halted.

The increasing maintenance cost trend is part of a wider problem for Southwest and the aviation industry overall, he said.

Southwest is counting on its deal for Boeing 737-800s and re-engined 737 Max narrowbodies to halt the trend of escalating maintenance costs, he said.

Why would any of you even consider AMFA. That would be like going from the pan to the fire....Come on think about it.

I guess you didnt realize UA was in bankruptcy right?

Is WN?
Of course I didn't realize it since I lived it! DOH!
If BK is an 'excuse' to outsource maintenance how can the competition keep up without matching the lowest common denominator.
What advances have the IAM gained at US Airways?
Yea, that's right, NONE!

None? Really?

Lets see got a defined benefit pension back, since bankruptcy, holidays, vacation time, sick time, and more maintenance brought back in-house, since both chapter 11 cases. And how is it since US been in chapter 11 twice, that the A&Ps make more than their counterparts at AA who havent worked under a banktupcty contract yet?

50% of all base mtc dollars must be done in-house.

And you wouldnt know this as you are not at US, now are you?

What he's saying is....WN being in the pax hauling biz, they're about tapped out giving mechs raises. Unlike FX & UP....,who make more in a qtr than most airlines do annually.
The Southwest guys are doing pretty good.

Worse(much)....why would any consider staying w the TWU?? How many times do you boys want to get beech slapped? Or do you enjoy that sort of thing?
Dayum....

What was the cost? Was it a positive gain for the membership, cost loss or cost neutral?
You have the numbers.
B) xUT

Nothing lost, it was gains.

Of course it was postive, can you not see that for yourself?

Didnt have profit sharing, and yes the 401k match was given up to get a defined benefit plan, do the math, it was still a gain and no losses.
