So who's non rev. policy will survive?

HP used to be FCFS, then we went to Seniority with US; personally I'ld like to see us go back to FCFS, but I also hope that we keep our free travel (just paying international taxes).

Agreed...I am a 21 yr employee...HP and US...I do like the seniority better but it is not a deal killer......More importantly...I would like the US travel policy of free travel worldwide adopted....only cost is intl taxes... round trip to Rome is only $36.00.

I like the airways non-rev travel plan even though I don't have much seniority as a retiree. I was stranded in Athens for 2 days along with paying passengers, not the fault of the non-rev policy,Airways uses a plane that does not have the legs to make it on a regular basis. Many times to Europe and Hawaii was not a problem, sometimes my wife and I sitting apart but some times having a row of 3 or 4 to ourselves. I like the SA1 option and how it can be used for a round trip or a one way flight and the no fees apart from the taxes is great.
Its going to be a while before we find out what plan will survive and I hope I will still be able to travel to places that I have never seen and cannot afford to go to.

How do UAL and DAL do it?
I dont work for DAL or UAL, so I really could careless how they do there travel. This is going to be a issue with the merger because one group will fill like they got screwed.Thats why I said if you let the employees of both company vote aleast everyone is part of the process.

let me rephrase that.

what is the industry standard?

So make the cut off to get on the standby list using your seniority say, one hour before departure. If you're not on it by then, you go on the bottom.

Problem solved.

Next?
One hour? Your kidding right?

Just let the employees vote for what they want. That way they can't blame management for what happens.

As democratic as that sounds, it will never happen. AA will adopt whatever non rev policies US Airways management puts in place.

I've always witnessed the employee's of the company being acquired always getting the short end of the stick. I expect the same to happen in this case

It sounds like Doug is planning on keeping AA's Res system...so my bet is that they will continue with AA's non-rev policy. Not using seniority is the most fair way to do it anyway.

Nah, can't use the res system as an excuse. Sabre accommodates both a DOH or time-based priority accommodation. So does Amadeus. Not sure about Shares, but will assume it does.

"Industry" standard is deceptive.

Last time I did a survey of the US carriers, it was half time-based & half seniority. But that was 15 years ago.

Globally, I've seen time based systems used slightly more, but that's because non-revving on international airlines tends to be more controlled (i.e. you only get so many trips per year). There's also the situation where seniority is a function of the unions, not the company.
