AWA320,
Just one more point...if AWA pilots do not pay their USAPA dues then they will be in bad standing and they will have no union votes. And, not to mention they can be fired by not paying certain dues and assesments.
Meanwhile, when considering "Just the Facts II" here are some points made by a USAPA Officer I respect:
Just a few thoughts . . .
1. ALPA says that we cannot "bargain" seniority in a collective bargaining agreement, yet that is
exactly what they are attempting to do with the Rice Bowl Committee, in fact Rice even talks about
the National collective bargaining comm in his last letter. yes, you can bargain seniority, USAPA
wants to do it without ALPA. Read section 22, titled "seniority" it is already there.
2. If USAPA wins, we will treat the AWA guys fairly. They will leave ALPA since we will take them
with us, but that doesn't mean we can screw them. We will have to work hard to make sure they are
properly represented, and they are treated fairly in any agreement that is reached later. There
are going to be difficult times, very difficult, but that doesn't mean we can leave them out, its
going to be harder.
Funny, you don't hear ALPA saying they are going to treat us fairly, or that ALPA merger policy is
going to applied fairly? No, the Nicolau award is not fair (or ALPA would have passed it) but you
don't hear this discussion from ALPA.
I am going to wait and see how this plays out. I am committed to having an election here, and I
think we are going to have one.
Looks like we will have an election, and ALPA now knows it, think how bad all that polling had to
have been for this reaction!
