West F/A's wants a seperate contract ?

With separate contracts, we can also keep the other 10% locked out. With our smaller numbers over here, 10% could impact our schedules dramatically with transfers into our domicile.

There are always openings in Phoenix with attrition from our junior ranks. With separate contracts we can hire from off the street or intra-company and keep those who are added to the roster at the bottom to work their way up.
Well aren't you just smart!!! Hello there, why do you think your attrition is so high among the junior folks??? Because you have all of that flexibility at the expense of the reserves WHO ARE ABSOLUTELY BEAT TO DEATH!!! And you do not care. Why, you ask? because you are being so self centered and only thinking about me, me, me. The days of AWA reinventing the wheel are OVER!!!!!! It's a real airline now and not everything is going to benefit YOU. And for the record-- you can keep your Hawaii, I'll fly a real airline like AA, UA, HA, or DL to the islands thank you. I mean what planet are some of you people residing on? you think that $#!t box out in PHX is some freaking pot of gold and that it's the best thing that ever happened. You have no idea what some of the "sensible" (yes we have some idiots too) East people are thinking, yes we would like to have your vacation, yes 100% for DH, all things we had in the past but to sit there and bad mouth the East folks because they might see the big picture is wrong. That flexibility that you have to drop turns or drop part of your trip or drop down to 0 or fly 150 is nice but did you think for 1 second that that PHX-SAN-PHX that you dropped "because you don't feel like it" is being given to a RSV who has to get in the car and possibly drive in rush hour traffic just to get paid for barely 3 hours. And please do not give me, "I had to do it" because the economy is probably completely different now than it was when you did it. I think it is safe to say that the East people are afraid of that kind of system because of the fact that many held a block (line) for several years and then were pushed back to RSV and can relate to the "career RSV's" and will not go for something like that and I'm sure if you were in their shoes then neither would you. I know that most people out West do not say these things that you have said because I know quite a few and can agree with the majority of us that we need to stick together in this. I just cannot understand why some people on here seem to only have a 2nd grade education when they speak. We need to all get together and make this union fight for what we ALL (Lineholders and Reserves) need--A decent wage and decent quality of life (which is not too much to ask for). The union and the company have a lot of creative people that if they wanted too could really come up with an outstanding contract with the costs that they want and the flexibility that we need and deserve but we are too busy fighting for stupidity and against each other to realize it.

If you listen to the Webcast of August, you can hear DP stating he would not have any problem having two separate contaract. If that would be the case than some of you from the East do not need to lower yourself to the HP level and you can sit on your laurel till 2012. As well as we can play in our "sand box" and not get lectures from the "big airline" siblings.
As to none of you want to move to PHX: you are wrong. There are F/a's from FAT,SAN and LAX who are "counting the days not to commute to the East". this is their verbage.

I would think that is a select few. Now I'm not saying that PHL and CLT are some secret pot of gold either. I cannot understand why some people think that PHX is the end all? I've lived in PHX and PHL and personally I think that the general population in PHL is much friendlier overall. Oh and for the record, yes I think it was Northwest and Republic that did the separate contract thing for awhile and from the way my friends at NW talk there are still some who say they are Northwest Orient and some who say they are Republic (and have actual battles over it). Do we really want to be that kind of a mess?

It will also keep those who believe it or not would like to leave precious PHX for bigger and better things from being able to transfer to PHL or CLT.

Hmm...What seniority? We've seen the seniority list, I believe we'd be on reserve forever in those bases.

First of all, how dare you say that we don't care about our own over here. We know that our RVs are treated like garbage by scheduling and the company. Our reserves and new hires are treated with respect and dignity over here by their fellow crewmembers. We KNOW the sacrifices they make - past, present and future! As I recall, some of the things I heard on these boards that were said between crewmembers when the MidAtlantic recalls came back to East made my blood boil! Especially when they were assigned to your sacred Transatlantic flights.

Before this merger was anyone's wet dream we were gearing up to improve the working conditions and duty rigs for our reserve flight attendants in OUR contract negotiations. It was a priority and we WERE making progress!

Once AFA decided that we should share our negotiable contract with the East, guess what, that all went to the back burner and everything that had been negotiated for our reserves went right out the window. Well the consensus on the West side is we owe it to all of our reserves (pre-merger, new hires and East recalls) on the West Certificate to get those tossed out negotiated items back for them. The only thing is I think they have a better shot at it with us negotiating a separate contract for them. The super-seniors over there, who are going to carry the vote in a single contract, would probably rather "let them eat cake."

Well it would be a paycut for most US West F/A's because the east schedule is more restrictive.

US West F/As are allowed to work as much as we can. We have no caps, US East does. Paycut for us in the west!

US West pick up schedules first come, first serve and from what I've heard US East is done by seniority. Another paycut for us if they do this!
Prior to the contract, the old DPU system was by seniority. It was'nt that bad.

I've been reading the AFA66 boards lately and been seeing alot of dissatisfaction from the west f/as about where the contract is going.

Seems the US East wants everything good that the west contract has like more vacation, full dead head pay etc. , but yet when it comes to the high time/drop pick up, schedules, profit sharing etc. they want everything done their way and not share anything. Seems the east have this mentality that everything is about them and the West should not be included in the "perks" that they seem so entitled, then why, WHY are we negotiating a single contract??

In addition, keeping our contracts separate would probably provide the west the "Fence" that we have been wanting all along if a provision is made that East members CANNOT jump from one contract to the other.

I'd say, the east should keep their archaic contract until 2012 and the west negotiate their own contract.
Doug Parker said he doesn't have a problem with seperate contracts, so the west f/a's are planning on collecting signatures and presenting it to the union.

Than DON'T Take Any PROFIT SHARING!!!

While Section 6 negotiations can drag out a long time, the threat that they could result in higher cost than a "cost plus" combined contract could provide some leverage at the negotiating table. Not to mention the spectre of a job action down the road if Section 6 negotiations weren't successfully concluded (with the other side honoring that job action, of course).

I am afraid that the unions on the East side lost all credibiliy for any kind of job action during the bankruptcy fiasco, if the members weren't willing to walk for loss of pension, loss of pay, loss of jobs, etc etc I'd be willing to bet they aren't willing walk for anything! The union members on the property showed management what they were made of and this union member dosen't see much changing at the next round of negotiations

From what we have been silently observing from over here is our East "brothers and sisters" would gladly put us on the street to achieve their goals for a better life for themselves. Save the unity hogwash until we see otherwise through your thoughts and actions.

What is your Damage Man? If it wasn't for this merger YOU would be in BK and going the SAME route that the east side has gone! So get OFF your mighty High Horse! If this IS your attitude, than I would NOT want to fly with you! And I do know that YOUR attitude is Not the norm for the West side!

903AW - What's with stirring up a hornets nest? There is such a tiny amount of people(East) who even go on this site. Every Westie I have met has been a class act. You make it sound like two armies are lined up and rattling their swords. Calm down!!!
How about directing your anger towards your precious leader DP?? You know the guy you thought was Santa Claus? Instead of a new bike for Xmas he got you a merger! Tears, tears. Now get over it and let's work together. History repeats itself over and over. Look at airline history(we had how many mergers) and see what happened to work groups. And yes the "united we stand, divided we fall" is a true outcome not just an old saying. Look at the history of that statement. The colonists stuck together and here we are today.

Many of us over here do not buy into the "if this merger didn't happen HP was doomed scenario." Could it have happened? Maybe. I don't think doomsday would have occurred immediately, however.

This is not my attitude. I usually have a great attitude...especially with those who fly with me. I have been sitting on the sidelines here for a long time watching everyone get their kicks, laughs and giggles while tearing apart the credibility of my colleagues on the West side. God, thanks to you guys, even your customers have a bad taste in their mouth about us and they have never even set foot on one of our planes! Well, the boiling pot finally blew it's lid!

This does not, however, change my opinion about separate contracts and why we should splinter off from single contract negotiations.

This is a joke.

West does not have the same thoughts and impressions as what is displayed on this board. Remember..East...you're posting with about 10 people out of 2800 in the West.
