US Pilots Labor Discussion

Why do you worry so much about what the East captains make?

Because compared to Spirit's $186.00 an hour it's bloody stinking EMBARRASSING! As a future CLT based Captain, I expect my "union" to negotiated for better wages and contract terms.

Are you so locked in your attempt to evade a final and binding seniority integration, that you will do ANYTHING to not make it happen? Jeez Louise! I guess that explains the "nevergiveup" call sign.

Glad you brought up Spirit, they got what they got because of 100% participation in a strike. That will NEVER happen here no matter what seniority list gets incorporated in a JCBA, if that ever happens.

I think we are destined for a lousy next contract, we are just to discombubulated to get anything but a lousy one.

I agree LS. There needed to be something in the middle to ever make this marriage work. Both DOH and NIC are too extreme for the entire group to deal with.

Honestly. Why have a union at all then? Wouldn't it be better to Simply accept a 2 percent raise now via not paying union dues be done with it? Is say going non union is a viable plan this point.

Good point and DOH will then prevail. Great idea Metro.

Come and join us at: http://www.reformusapa.com/

We can transform USAPA into a true UNION, and move on to a better contract for ALL OF US. DOH is DOA. Isn't it time for you to get a raise and a better QOL? It's your decision......support the mire you are stuck in or help us change overall better conditions and pay.
Why would anyone want to accept all the downside risk of keeping USAPA (heck the name alone is polarizing - didn't Parker's mistake with the USAir name teach you anything?) rather than scrapping it and starting an entirely new bipartisan union?

Reforming USAPA relies on those in power politely relinquishing it. Not gonna happen.

If a court finds USAPA liable for money damages (for myriad reasons), do you really think you'll get them to split off just the east pilots to carry the liability?

I want to support initiatives for real change, but this is just dumb.

The east pilots will get behind a new viable union with a physical presence in all crew bases which will recapture the credibility with management that USAPA has flushed away. Neither the pilots nor management will embrace an insurgency that moves the deck chairs around the dinghy. Incremental changes in USAPA will not fix the structural flaws that doom it.

I encourage you to put your efforts towards those endevours that produce real results, even if they are considerably more difficult.

And the Russians thought Afghanistan would be a piece of cake.

Sorry, Pi. The question embedded in my text was both sarcastic and rhetorical. I should have known that you & your pals would have jumped on that as an invitation. The fence you will get is the one that has transpired AFTER we get a TA ratified with the Nicolau Award. It may indeed be a 25 year fence, who knows? I have no illusions that you will vote NO on any TA with the Nicolau Award.

This is along the lines of "give just a little". There is no person, party, entity, group, committee or agency that can change any portion (like fences) of the Nicolau (with the exception of George Nicolau himself). It simply is not going to happen.

You just have to decide: Are you willing to delay for RJ wages only to have the same outcome transpire.....or do you want the money and QOL NOW?

Yeah, I got it, hence the sarcastic and rhetorical response. Am I too subtle?

I'm not delaying anything and when the time comes I will make choices that I think are best for my family first, then the people I have worked with for a quarter century.

I really don't know Joe. I doubt there would be enough money offered by Parker to have any percentage of the West pilots vote in favor of a TA w/ DOH.

I agree. Do you think the Parker will offer enough money to get a contract with the Nic in it past the NAC, AND a ratification vote?

Isn't it funny Brat how most all of the advancement is on the East side? No wonder why all the whining comes from the West. We have something they want and can't have, who's greedy now?

Movement here, whining there, kinda evens things out. Nature abhors a vacuum, right? B)

p.s. I'm going to add a smiley in every post, then maybe more people will get me, although there needs to be a few more.........

The Nicolau Award IS THE MIDDLE. It is the COMPROMISE. Now STAPLING the East beneath the West is EXTREME. You will eventually have "to deal with" that fact. The question remains: how long does the East group wait? How much money and QOL are you willing to let pass you by. Carry on.

So your argument is: I'm too stubborn to admit the Nicolau list is final & binding, so I am completely willing to work for the lowest industry wage because it makes me feel better??

OK. As long as long as we have that straightened out.
