Living in the hey days of decades past rather than dealing with the reality of today. Does that mean your best days are behind you?
Do you really think the future holds something better than it was in the past? YOUR management is running this place into the ground, maybe your just to stupid to see it. I would be very concerned if I was a west pilot about my future.

I've made my views on this subject known on this board in the past. 2006 and 2007 were record profitability years for US - better than US/HP had separately. 2008 was the fuel spike and 2009 brought the worst recession in 70 years. Assuming the economy recovers, US has proven it can make strong profits with this management team and I fully expect them to return again - on par with or even leading the industry.

US has also demonstrated it can achieve operational results in 2008 and 2009 even when the world economy was putting extreme pressures on the finances. In 2009 US was pulling down block hours (padded schedules) while all the other majors were adding block times in order to compete with US in on-time performance. This all translates to a very good outlook for the company.

Any as I've also said before, a good outlook for the company is a good outlook for it's employees. The times will indeed get better which means profits, jobs, and better wages for employees. I have no concerns in this area, except for the fact that congress and the white house seem to be intent on destroying the economy as quickly as they can.

...As for attrition, that is a mixed bag. If the airline wishes to balance it's flying it can refuse to backfill east attrition. If the restrictions of the Transition Agreement regarding the movement of airframes between east and west, then a case could be made that the company should petition the courts to void the TA and allow it to carry on it's business because USAPA will not perform the steps necessary to get to a joint contract. This is where it's better to not get hung up on the term "our attrition" since it's ultimately the company that decides where the flying will occur. Waiting until the last of the old guys to retire on the east and their positions filled by an east pilot is not a viable strategy, and it presupposes a declining business model that is also unsustainable. In other words, if the only way you upgrade is through attrition, you likely won't have any airline in the first place. Sustainable upgrades must come from a growing airline.....
IMHO, it will be cheaper for the company to restaff the east with new hire pilots at starting wages rather than go through the trouble of voiding the TA. Why replace expensive senior pilots with expensive senior pilots when a cheaper alternative is readily available?
Sorry, gonna need a better line of reasoning than this....
No NIC, ever.
Cheers.

Must be the rose colored glasses or the margaritas, I have no faith in your management team I think they are idiots, they have not proven to be effective leaders and are the laughing stock of the industry, but time will tell.

Are you closer to BK now than you were in 2005? How about the 1879 furloughees in 2005? Are they better off now than they were 5 years ago? Do you think this Westie idiot management has done anything to improve the lifespan of AAA?

Time did tell. You still have a job. Get over your superiority complex, it's not 1983, and a Job at US Air isn't on the top of any younger pilots wish list.

I just gave you four years which demonstrate they have managed well in both a good economy and a disastrous one. How many more years do you need to figure it out?

This is also your management team and will be for a long time to come unless you decide to leave. If you can accept that as a very likely fact you will have a much better perspective on your career.

If I recall, new hires wouldn't be on the east list, they would be on a 3rd list.

Under the scenario I described, they would void the list if they were unable to move airframes where they wanted them to be due to USAPA intransigence.

The Nicolau award did not follow ALPA merger policy. Another arbitrator disagreed with most of the major arguments of the Nicolau "award".

The disparity in the findings is quite troubling.

The USAirways, America West dispatchers seniorty arbitration.

Most professions have accountability, some do not.

It's very clear you haven't actually read the award. Before you post another comment regarding its content, consider leafing through it instead of just posting what you overheard some guy in the crew room say (who also didn't read it).

Did you read the dispatchers award sir. I offered this up for inquiring minds. What is your point?

Why don't you read the Nicalou and compare it to the dispatchers award? My exact point is the disparity of the awards. A guy in the "crew room" did not tell me this, I researched it.

I offered the links for those that did not require your "opinion". I provided links that provide varied opinions.

The link is provided again for your education.

USAirways, America West dispatcher seniority award.
