You should switch to menthols.

I kid, I kid. The electric rigs we have in PHX suck. They just do. They're nowhere near as consistent and reliable as their gas and diesel counterparts. Even if the ramp went green you'd still be sucking up smog because of 1.) jet exhaust and 2.) you're smack dab in the middle of the Valley with freeways on all four sides of you...
I hate the electric tugs as much as anyone but surely something can be done about the Air start units and push tugs.

There's nothing to be done about airstarts, other then maybe relocating the exhaust if they're blowing anywhere but up. An airstart works by supercompressing air to a ridiculous pressure is a sustained manner. There's no way (well maybe a nuclear airstart or something) that could generate the pressure needed for the time needed reliably with electric. Push tugs would probably blow through a charge in one shot, though I think it might be possible with a goodly amount of research.

Hello brothers and sisters …( and management )

I wanted to talk today about an issue that may be local to PHX or perhaps be a system wide issue …

It’s a minor topic that has importance to myself and many others in PHX . Recently we’ve been undergoing our usual rounds of hearing tests and the topic of hearing protection provided by the company has come up …

In the past we used to be given orange ear plugs that were quite sturdy and kept the sound out , recently they’ve been changed out with a yellow ear plug that is quite flimsy and in my opinion fails to keep out as much noise pollution as before . I understand that the ear plugs are made by 3M which had for awhile discounted them and has recently started to produce them once again .

Many of us here in PHX would like to see the return of the orange ear plugs ..

( I never thought I’d see the day when I would rant about ear plugs , but here we are )

I want to thank OUR Grievance Committee in (CLT) for getting

out to the break rooms and explaining the changes in our Benefits for next year.

That is greatly appreciated by some of the membership. For our brothers and sisters

in CLT we have an election coming up in a month and a half. Remember these little things

YOUR Grievance Committee does for you that THEY DON'T HAVE TO.

thanks again guys for taking the time to research and then educate the membership.

Another thing. Quite a few people are sick with flu or symptoms & continue to work because they are scared of the "sick policy" or loss of pay. While other companies are telling people who are sick to stay home US is forcing us to work. Which brings me to the question what is the union doing to fight this sick policy ?

This policy was the first one your Company handed your ND-08 AGC's after they got elected and your new AGC's said they were going to arbitrate the sick policy, that was...oh yeah...a YEAR ago!!! How many agents have already been disiplined or terminated at US Airways because of this lack of representation?

in my city we had as many as 6 agents out last week with the flu and I was out some 3 weeks ago with a viral infection and then later a stomach virus i havent hear anything about discipline but I dont know if it varies by the station or not However they did post a poster telling us that if we even have a cold or chills or a fever go home, stay home except medical reasons, and get healthy before coming to work. a side note, i understand on the 170s and 175s we cannot open the doors to dump trash though we dont normally dump their trash due to it being express

I'm no (currently) a shop steward, but the Company has posted several pieces of literature advising that if you have flu like symptoms (presumably with fever) to stay home until you have been without a fever for 24 hours. IMO use it, and if they give you points grieve it for being disciplined for following THEIR advice.

The policy IS in arbitration. Arbitration takes a while, especially when there are as many arbitration cases as there are (I've heard potentially well over 100).

Pig and Hog, You are not correct! The old regime was presented the new acp and did nothing!!!! ND08 inherited the acp while just getting started and are still cleaning up arbitration cases that the old left on the side of the road? Look in the mirror KA you are about to have your cute *&^ss handed to you! Pardon me, its not cute at all.
