Uneaten food in DFW

dfw gen,
Tired of changing tires at the gate on days because nights was too busy playing Call of Duty, sleeping, or watching movies to do it on PS or AC.
Then bid nights.

You'd better run along to the manager and tell him who is getting away with this.

Or better yet, how about you go about doing your job and stop worrying about what other shifts and people are doing.

Its nice to hear every department is hiring except Maint. We are down over 500 mechs in attrition alone, during DP townhall meetings he talks about placards but not about Maint being outsourced or headcount being down,

Maintenance hired 18 people in 2014, 6 cleaners in Tulsa, 4 AMTs in LAX and 9 AMTs in JFK, JFK was looking for 40 AMTs, they got 9 but all were from within the company, they didn't get any mechanics off the street.  The well is dry.

Our station manager was so stressed he quit and went with the FAA. Saw him the other day. Lost a lot of weight and looked much better.

Currently the list is sitting at 7624. Since AA filed for BK they have hired 105 AMTs, none in Tulsa or AFW, all in fairly high cost areas.

BOS-2
SFO-2
SAN-2
PHL-2
LAX -16
LGA-23
JFK -28
ORD -30

The Junior AMT in Tulsa  was hired into Maint four years ago.

So they are replacing mechanics on the line but not as fast as they are leaving, in the bases they are only replacing Cleaners and OSMs but nowhere near as fast as mechanics are leaving.

We are down around 2000 Title I since Aa filed for BK. On 9-30-2002 a year after 9-11 we had 14044.

I agree with bigjets, if that kickoff flight takes a delay because of a tire change, then that is weak management not holding a mech accountable and should be let go, if that's a chronic issue.

You really have to dedicate yourself to that kind of stupidity.

Let's try......."the twu is good, otherwise we would be treated like delta mechs."
I know it sounds odd, just try repeating that until you are in a trance like state.

OldGuy@AA,
Not very union like when some union brothers and sisters damage our reputation when they defend sleeping, playing video games, and watching movies.

Not very union like to rat them out on a public message board either.

Wow, are you for real.  The way you make it sound like nobody does anything except you.  If you really are a line AMT.  I've heard the same complaints (in one form or another) for 29 years.  The fact that you (supposedly a line AMT) bring this issue up - on a public forum as if you have something new to say - makes me doubt you're a line AMT.

You must be a hero.  Did it ever occur to you, that the alleged aircraft that you have had to change tires on, were the "no check" overnighters, or the next to nothing type checks?  When AA swiched maintenance plans to "msg 3" - the shite went to hell in a hand basket.  Who are we to point out the obvious?  There was a time when every aircraft got a decent level of attention, well not so much anymore.  That is managements fault.  Go ahead and attempt to pin that on the AMTs.

I'm not ratting anyone out. I did not name anyone.
You painted the picture that your Union brothers and sisters were lazy on 3rd shift, playing video games and sleeping. You are perpetuating the argument of 'my shift has to pick up the slack for all of the other shifts'. Your words and actions are far from union-like.
