Uneaten food in DFW

Why the hard on for DFW  A/C Maintenance?  For the most part, line AMTs are not factory workers.  When the work is done, or in between jobs - watching TV or getting on a laptop to catch up on CBTs or whatever - is perfectly acceptable.  If something needs to be done, the crew chief knows right where to look.
Relax, I was making a general statement. i don't work in DFW nor do I know what does or does not go one there. I make the statement regarding TVs and laptops because of some of the crowd I work with. When the occasional contractual meal period is enforced and laptops and TV time cut short, THEN you see the fighting attititude. Then you see the anger. But concessionary contract after concessionary contract brought no real anger or reaction as I recall. Correct me if I'm wrong.
But mess with TV and laptop time, then you're looking for a fight.

Welcome to PIT.

Except we gave up full meals years ago.

Give my boys a box of donuts or a slice of plain cheese pizza, and they'll vote yes for anything.

The motto here is, "cut the manpower, but don't cut my overtime."
That's pretty much at every station and every class...sorry!

Because TVs and laptops are parochial while the contract is global. Its a fight they feel they can win. Not saying I agree, thats just how it is.

Well put.

I always see a mech get up from his laptop or TV and go do his job, never an issue and the CC has no problem finding mech.

Mess with the CS policy and watch the mechs unite as one. Eliminate OT and after a month watch 25% of the workforce act like they just took another concessionary contract.

They do away with 4/10s on midnight LINE.....they give no one Holliday off when the last flight left at 1710 on thanksgiving so now u want us to break bread with you. The cleaners ate well that day.....it was a Holliday week and most people didn't come in for ot and mgmt went scrambling deferring checks for the week....it was beautiful

The majority of DFW AMTs voted against the last two TAs - there was real disapointment when the majority in Tulsa voted in favor of the last two TAs though.  As far as a fighting attitude regarding contractual meal periods, since there is no real food available on site - extra time was given to make it to nearby restraunts and back.  Back when management worked with the AMTs, a lot more got done than what gets done now.  The incentive is gone, the morale is all but disappeared, management is clueless, and our union representation is sketchy at best.  Now the current rumors of what A/C maintenance management has planned for 2015 sound even more ignorant.  We are along for the ride, should be interesting to see the wheels come off the bus.

Exactly..mess with the CS policy....WATCH OUT!
ELIMINATE OT....WATCH OUT!

Take in the shorts contract after contract.........oh well, you know the rest.

With some luck maybe ES will ante up some of those wonderful Tasty Cake snacks which the mechanics in Philly were rewarded with when he was in charge up there.....

I guess when management wrote our contract, they forgot that the mechs are the ones that do the work, not what's on the spread sheet. A decade of this crap, what did they think our attitude would be. It must be the Texas IGM attitude from management down to the most junior mech........

Sophie from HR came around yesterday to D terminal at DFW running interference for Sangrieco.  She says management is worried about us and our stress level.  Forcing everyone to work on Thanksgiving was not meant to penalize us but do to scheduling constraints. She wanted to know what we wanted for the next bid....blah, blah, blah....too many rumors, blah, blah, blah...., management cares about us, blah, blah, blah....I guess she was looking for a group hug.

DFW runs short handed all year long creating the opertunity for unlimited OT, then when the running short handed means guys don't get the day off with pay there's holy hell, and they refuse to eat a company holiday meal.

Wow Dfw mechs really know how to make a stand on an important issue.
