TWU negotiations.........what?

Looks like those layoffs were prevented...

I won't pretend to know what was & wasn't implemented in the final version of the RPA, but there's a lot of stuff up there that I know is still insourced and not implemented as shown in the 1113c proposals...
Well the 4/10 were eliminated in AFW by the company, so were their numbers wrong or did the just want to piss away an extra $3 million/year?

American, along with key airline partners, said Tuesday they are prepared to inject $1.4 billion cash into Japan's flagship carrier, up from the previous offer of $1.1 billion. In addition, they will guarantee $2 billion in revenue over the next three years if Japan Airlines, or JAL, stays in the oneworld family.
Plenty of money for everything except its employees. And a guarantee to generate 2 billion dollars.

Awfully sporting of you Gerard.

Guarantee $2 billion over the next three years in concert with the other Oneworld Airlines whilst dragging ones feet in negotiations with your own people?

Good show old boy!

Billions for defense, not one cent for tribute.

The arrogance of American Airlines in the face of our negotiating committee is indicative of why they do not fear our union in any shape or form.
after the TWU members have saved them hundreds of millions of dollars in yearly savings participating in working together programs (after the great concession to save jobs). These programs in my opinion has eliminated more jobs. They just do not replace workers and call it attrition. The bottom line is we are doing more with less. To add insult to injury, we got nothing in return for all those savings! Some were sold on the idea that we would get a percentage back on the savings. Dennis Burchette sold the members on "helping the company and reaching into their pockets later....) We were sold on the 2003 concessions that we would re-open the contract in 2005 and ask for everything back. We are sold on the idea that informational picketing shows some kind of strength and defiance.
The only sign of strength against the company is to withold from assisting them in our own destruction. Making them understand that if they want to go the distance by releasing us, after 30 days will be free to self-help and CHAOS will put the union and it's members in a position of strength and unity.

Just my thoughts, what do you think?

The company has no intent on negotiating in good faith. Thanks to the TWU, the company erased 40 years of contractual gains and they want more.

The problem is the TWU will sell us out once more when they threaten to scale back in house maintenance and increase outsurcing.

Do any PRO-TWU defenders here believe the TWU is capable of getting us a good contract, or are the sheep going to cower near their tool boxes and continue to give more concessions?

I've said it before, I'll say it again...........ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!...Show the company exactly what you think of their latest proposal because, after all, they showed you what they think!

Come to think of it there are no PRO-TWU defenders here anymore.

To name a few...

...None of them have posted in quite sometime now.

I wonder if beyond those that are cashing in on some form of TWU compensation are there any TWU defenders? I don't see any.

In fact, the majority of the previous anti-amfa crowd in Tulsa are now either in management or they are the loudest complainers about the TWU. Imagine that

Could you please post all the great Tulsa TWU leaders of recent years who have transitioned into management.

Who is the snake oil salesman now?

Well.........we would only be released if a Presidential Emergency Board (PEB) does not step in. That happened to the pilots in the late '90s. Clinton stepped in and stopped the strike.

Besides that, if we were to be released, what makes you think that the Company will allow CHAOS on the property? Dont think for a second that you would be allowed to come to work and create disruptions at will.

We would probably be locked out if it ever got to that point. Once both sides are released, the Company can impose whatever contract that they like. And it would probably be a lot worse than what we have now.

The Company wants to take MORE back from us. So in their convoluted thinking, we are being over-compensated at this point. The Company would probably welcome a release at this time, just so they can impose there own contract.

The way the economy is now, there are not too many jobs out there to fall back on. I dont think that people could stand a strike for very long.

Right now I find that I have "mixed feelings" on being released. I think that you will find Bob Owens also has "mixed feelings" on the subject. Check out the thread titled "TO ALL TWU MEMBERS". There is some interesting discussion on the issue.

This does not mean that we should give up, or settle for a sub standard contract. Just that I disagree with your views on how to get it, at this point in time. As times and conditions change, and if our negotiations continue to drag on, I may change my mind on being released.

So, I really dont see your point on how being released, at this point in time, will put us in a "position of strength and unity"

Not to be sarcastic, but our position would be more like "debt and forclosure"

Not sure how far back "recent years" goes but here is a list I know of...

Paul Creider - Current
Ken Harding - Retired
Wayne Ping - Retired
Dennis Quish - Retired
Michael Jackson - Current
Mark Easton - Current
James Klopp - Current
Kevin Hammack - Current
Kevin Thompson - Current

Thist does not include Shop Stewards, only those elected to E-Board or above within the TWU

Of course we have the one odd guy out named James C. Little who apparently came the other direction and was in management first and then transitioned to International Appointed President of the TWU
