TWU negotiations.........what?

... snip

Of course we have the one odd guy out named James C. Little who apparently came the other direction and was in management first and then transitioned to International Appointed President of the TWU

Mr. Informer:

Did I ever tell you that I decided, one day, to look up Little Jimmy's teaching qualification he supposedly holds? New York State's online registry of teaching certificates has no record of him.

Another "little" item to add along with his diploma mill degrees (which he quit publicizing some time ago).

Strike? I don't see that in your future, as it requires a release from NMB that will not be forthcoming. They'll release the pilots before they release TWU, and NMB has made it clear that the pilots are a ways off from that.

Of course most passengers don't understand that, so when you rattle the strike saber people start to book away from AA, further hurting the bottom line and your chances for improvements in compensation. But keep rattling...

We could give our labor away and this company would lose money. AA wants us to have a performance based incentive but it doesn't matter because they control the prices they charge for a ticket. When it's cheaper to fly than drive there is a problem. Maintenance has no control over the price of a ticket, period. We could work for $9 an hour and AA management would lose money, or hide it so it would be labors fault.

What you conveniently forget is that this company, with the help of the TWU, wiped out 40 years of hard fought benefits and wages. The have a taste of it and they want more. As i recommended in another post, everyone needs to read the ENTIRE proposal, not just the highlights where people such as yourself think that a 3, 3, 2 and 2% lump sump is sooooooo generous of this company. A lump sump does not equate in any way to a structural salary increase.
There is a slew of workrule changes they want as well. This is a contract written by the company for the company.
Regardless of how profitable this company will ever be, they do not wish to give the workers squat.
Maybe folks like you believe if the company prospers, they will in turn restore what they took.
That is typical of corporate America and their class warfare against the working class.

SHOW THE COMPANY HOW HAPPY YOU ARE WITH THEIR LATEST PROPOSAL EVERY DAY YOU GO TO WORK!

Rattle the strike saber and people book away from AA, further hurting the bottom line? Then why should the company not negotiate in good faith then?

A strike is AFTER a cooling off period and a potential NMB as you point out. But it is a legal tool to use when available. It is funny... labor never forces itself to go on strike. I never heard a work force say, "Darn it fellas! We have negotiated too good of a contract, it is too good here. Let's strike!" No, it is management throughout history that has attempted to squash good faith negotiations and pushed labor into a corner.

<_< ----- It's one thing to be proud of your trade, but another to be treated like a dog in return year in, and year out!!!------ The bottom line is that there is more to life than working on airplanes!!! And I've worked on them for over fourty years!
