TWU negotiations.........what?

Boy, I was wrong. I thought it was one of those spam can roller openers laying on top of the lid.

You do of course realize the bankruptcy court 'option' would probably entail an even greater cut in pay and benefits, concessions writ large if you will...

Should it come to bankruptcy, you know damn well the TWU will sacrifice everything in order to maintain the income from dues.

They already got the bamnkruptcy plan, the only thing they didnt get was the pension and we dont see AA paying off that $700 million they supposedly will have to pay in 2010.

The way I look at it the pension is just a promise and when we look at the "liftime Passes and the retiree health benifits that were just cancelled we can see how readily AA breaks their promises.

Please explain the lifetime passes you mentioned.
AA used to award these passes if someone had a certain attendance record, they were said to be "good for life", then they abruptly said use them in the next few months or they're void.

I believe you are referring to the AAchievers award points and certificates. I cashed mine in when they mentioned the program was shutting down. I remember the big commotion over this. Perfect attendance meant something way back when. Worthless now.

That's exactly right. I have never understood why some people seem to be so willing to go to bk instead of trying to work something out with the company.

It would hit retirees especially hard, I think. And we all get there someday...

Nicht Ihr Anliegen.

Not my concern?

Expectations have now been lowered. Look for a tentative agreement at the next negotiation session in early November.

Does the membership still get to vote NO

Yes the membership will vote. If the vote is a NO there will be two options not three. The first will be the union and AA will get together and explain to the membership how we did not fully understand what we voted on and a revote will be called (Sound familiar). The second option is that the ATD director has the authority to over ride the memberships voting results and accept the contract in the best interest of the membership. The third option which is not an option is accept the NO vote and start over again.

Sick Leave----------12 at full------------------------- 5 first two at half pay
Training-------------OT if beyond reg shift-----------Straight time
Field trip-------------Per diem-------------------------qualified expenses
OT------------------- Double after 12-----------------time and a half only
401k Match----------½ match of 6% contribution --no match

IOD Pay------------- 700 hrs---------------------------80hrs

GEO Pay------------- $2/hr HNL Only------------------Zero

Not an especially fair comparison (even if we accept your figures) since CO has been through bankruptcy twice and has shed liabilities and reduced costs through those trips down Chapter 11 Lane. That's the main reason AA has such trouble competing: everyone else has been down the BK road, and lower costs mean lower fares.
