TWU negotiations.........what?

I dont know how to say this any clearer than this ' I DO NOT CARE ABOUT AA'S FINANCIAL PROBLEMS ANYMORE, I WANT MY MONEY OR I WOULD RATHER SEE THEM GO AWAY SO THOSE CARRIERS THAT KNOW HOW TO RUN A BUSINESS AND PAY THEIR WORKERS WILL HAVE ROOM TO EXPAND AND HIRE US.

Oh I think we all hear you loud and clear.

The problem with that logic is that when AA goes bust and we have to go find a job at an airline that knows "how to run a business and pay its workers" we will be working for some Skybus successor for less than we make now!

A quote attributed to Ben Franklin is, "Those who would sacrifice essential Liberty for a little temporary safety deserve neither."

Now, this may be far above your head, but ponder that quote for a while and consider why there was a revolution here against the British in the late 1700s - people had had quite enough.

Of course, there were those who were OK with whatever the British did and made special deals hoping they wouldn't be hurt too badly, many times to the detriment of their family and friends but, as it's said, "It takes all kinds."

Ponder this for a while and get back to us.

Work for an airline that knows how to run a business and pay it employees? You realize that statement is an oxymoron. If you want to make the some if not more when AA goes bust, you need to do something other than staying in the airline industry.

I think that the phrase "Live to grovel another day" is more along his line of thinking.

Your phrasing is much more succinct.

I thought perhaps the metaphor might give him/her (and anyone else reading that may think the company way is correct) something to think about, if they will bother.

We've got the same problem in another arena now and nearing the need of the same "repairs" as were made over 230 years ago, but it's doubtful there are enough people anymore with the concern nor 'nads to join together as once happened to cure the problem at hand.

Running a republic (not a democracy) is not a spectator sport. All that's at issue is whether or not it's too late to repair what happened over the years as a direct result of neglect by the People/Membership.

"Why don't 'they' do something about that"? 'They' did - with no input from us - both the TWU and Federal Government.

"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." -- Samuel Adams

Correct me if I'm wrong.

After the July session of Negotiations didn't the mediator tell the company to answer all opened articles at the next session. Here at DFW we were led to believe that the mediator was very upset with the company. I guess he finally got paid off.

The word I heard is that he knocked over a bunch of water glasses and was yelling at the company this time for not bringing back anything. From what I hear, we could probably get a release at the next session. Now will the guys walk if a strike is called is the next question. <_<

We have heard:

Restore plus 10%

Company is stalling

Supporting Obama gives us leverage

Obama will give us favorable Mediator

Mediator mad at company

Mediator knocks over glasses of water

Negotiating Committee too big

What would be next? Something like "We'll get 'em next time brother"?

What we would do and what Little would allow (due to his being bought off by the company) are two different matters unless this is actually the grand design.

I hope everyone understands this clearly. The company wants the pension, retiree medical and non licensed mechanics at the line stations.

If we all do not get on the same page, BASE and LINE stations, we are certainly doomed.

I don't care where you are based, does anyone want their pension ended and retiree medical eliminated and sell out future mechanics.

The company has made it clear that unless you wear a suit and tie to work and are above a Level 8, you are garbage to them.

DOES EVERYONE UNDERSTAND THIS?

And to those who say we shouldnt ask for anything because of the country's and company's economic situation, do not be blinded by this company's arrogance. They want more from us. PERMANENTLY.

"sell out future mechanics."

Brother, I don't care what you ask for and what you get, you will not prevent
the above mentioned. I guarantee it.

My suggestion to you is you better get everything you can for those on the clock TODAY
because if and when new hires come rolling in, they will be the new future of the airline employee
in terms of benefit and pay. Take it to the bank.
