TWU negotiations.........what?

AAR Expands To Duluth
Posted by Lee Ann Tegtmeier at 4/19/2012 9:17 AM CDT
AAR plans to lease 152,000 sq. ft. of the former Northwest Airlines hangar in Duluth, Minn., The facility is 188,000 sq. ft. and at full capacity could accommodate four lines of maintenance.

AAR hopes to open the facility this summer and initially staff it with 15-20 current employees and local contractors.

The company says it has been looking for a facility for the past year.

Could the timing have anything to do with potential Air Canada and American Airlines airframe work coming to the market?

get off the AMP thing, you guys where no close last year and still not close.

The buy out it will be a big joke, go check a system senoirity list, start looking at guys 1984 see how many guys are going.

twu still silent and running deeper!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AMP or AMFA, doesn't matter, what do you think we should do, Paul? We carrd signers and organizer's have seen the writing on the wall for years. Keep complaining and do nothing, I'm sure your local White Castle can use some help.

That's not true Bob. Everyone of those airlines that filed BK went through a long period of concessions either agreed to or imposed by the court. Didn't you know that when you urged everyone to vote no? That we could end up in BK court with a gutted contract? So we vote no, get the term sheet imposed, and then we let the same negotiating team chumps that have been negotiating for five years go back to the table and get what? Will you get the outsourced work back? Will you get us full retro? Will you get us the pension back? What about retiree medical, will we get that back?

I can't wait to vote no Bob so I can see the TWU negotiating team work their magic after the BK court lets the company impose their term sheet.
a. Yes they all went through a long period of concessions, so did we, 2003 to 2012 so far.
b.Who has imposed deals?
c.Our contract has been gutted, now they are looking to pick the bones.
d. We would have been in BK whether we had a new agreement or not, but you knew that didnt you?
e. What we get back depends on what you are willing to do to get it. The first step is to vote NO unless the things we need are in there.

None of them regained all or most of the work they lost and they took years to recover the lost wages and are still not all the way back. BK was not a foregone conclusion either way but I however believed it was a distinct possibility where you did not (i.e. "BK is a threat"). You are complaining that AA is picking at the bones but have you forgotten that AMR is in Chap 11, that is why they went there, to do just that and render organized labor as unwilling participants and your point is BK should be fair to the employees? Are you that naive?

Yep Bob, let's vote no because you and the team have such a great track record of delivering.

at least try to get amfa in here, but as long as the amp thing is going on they willn't try to make a effort>

90 % of the mechanics that I work with have never heard of Bob, and don't read airline forum, and they all voted NO. And will vote NO again. Go ahead and vote yes, you will lose again.

Not true Paul, I pretty sure their's a AMFA card drive in the works and AMPwill support whatever displaces the aflcio affiliated twu. Will you help with an AMFA drive?

By voting yes negotiations are over for a minimum of 6 years, which is what the internAAtional and teAAm overspeed desire. The only chance of achieving parity with the industry is to be gaged in negotiations if and when profits return. Did you not learn anything from the 1995 contract?

And how is that different than the de facto pay cuts we have had while the present group of clowns on the negotiating team have rattled sabers and puffed out their chests for the last five years? At least with the TA we got a raise for the last two years now we have nothing and getting less rammed down our throats. Great plan! Vote no until something good happens...we hope.

You are truly out of touch with reality,I do not know of any yes votes unless it includes an early out or change of representation .

You make a very convincing argument to vote no.

One thing about BK is it takes the decisions out of the hands of people that have no concept of reality. Vote no and keep talking, AMR doesn't care. They got what they wanted. Greater outsourcing, frozen pension, and near frozen pay rates.

Face it BK took away any thunder we thought we had.
