TWU negotiations.........what?

Our "ask" at NW wasn't reduced, but I can guarantee you the initial proposal was a whole lot worse than what the end result was. Each workgroup had a number to meet, but how they got to it was largely up to them. That's where you guys are at now. For example, freezing the pension gives some serious wiggle room to you guys to retain other items, and the membership needs to make sure that "Team Twu" gets that message loud and clear in their internet-equipped rooms...
Other items such as?
We already get 30 weeks less vacation over the first 30 years of service, over that same amount of time we get 210 less sick days, 3000 hours less Holiday pay etc etc . You have to remember that this is BK #2 for us, the only difference is they didnt actually file. We gave up things that other kept through BK in exchange for the pensions and retiree medical. With the pensions frozen and Retiree medical on the table there isnt much left to pick, just the bones. We arnet just at the bottom, they are looking to set a new low. They want to outsource as much as anyone else but pay much, much less than anyone else. When NWA went through BK they had to compete with the largest carrier in the country, AA, who had cut their labor costs per hour by at least 25%. In Maint AA already had a cost advantage even prior to the cuts, the cuts made it even worse.

If AA gets away with what they want they will once again have set the bar for the industry, just like 2003, and you can look forward to another visit to BK court. Even if your employer is showing a profit they can still file, all they have to do is write up a few convienient coveneants to support their claim that they are technically bankrupt and they are off to the rubber stamp of the Old Customs House.

Fortunately NW is no more, the ancient DC-9 aircraft are being retired and many of their unions have been decertified. AA workgroups are in a position to give major concessions and isn't likely they will be making any gains in the foreseeable future.

Then neither will AA, and they may share the same fate as NW.

And who profited there with NWA's demise? The senior execs. They all got special buy out packages and now the NWA guy runs DL. Where are all the union guys? Is that your idea of a "win" Bob?

So tell us.... and what exactly would be your idea of a "win"?
Are we to grovel at mgnts feet every contract? Begging for any scraps left over from the pilots, f/a's??
Contrary to the TWU, IAM and IBTs mentality.... There comes a time when one has to say enough is enough. Again....better to die on your feet, than live on your knees.
Of course, I realize that'll never happen with the TWU.

I think that was stated already but here we go. The TA was going to have us at number 2 in airline AMT pay now we will be what? Number 8? Or better yet last and with 40% of our work outsourced. Of course you can say AA was going to do BK anyway and maybe that's true but now we will never know except that the MCTs are not giving back off of their rate in their ratified TA.

Die on your feet? Looks like we are headed there so you will get that unfortunately. Living on your knees getting paid $37 and hour would have been awful.

Did you forget about the other Title groups? At what point does one group have to give enough to make the other survive?

It could be that by giving enough to place Title I in eighth place in the industry, that another Title group has survived the company's sword.

What title group might that be?

rewind to 2002 and you will see that I had begged the leaders of these(AFL-CIO affiliated Unions) to block abrogation, saying that if one carrier gets to use it the rest would follow. Not only was I ignored but when the TWU threw me out of office they quoted letters I'd written to TWU leaders saying that if the Judge abrogates any labor agreement ALL afl unions should walk off the job in a political protest. The TWU cited this as conduct unbecoming because they considered such an act illegal and that I was advocating putting the organization at risk.

Once again, tell those that still have not lost their prefunding that voting NO was a mistake, some guys are due over $50k.

Tell us again what voting NO was going to gain us, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside....

Or better yet, make a video Bob! You've done it before. Tell us what voting "NO" has gained us....

Voting No gained us about as much as being members of the AFL-CIO has gotten us...

NO WHERE, FALSE HOPE and LESS CASH

Number 2?? Don't think so....UP, FX, WN were already past that wage rate. Now there afterburners have ignited, they're out of sight in pay. AS, UA & DL were/are there at 37 or better. Yep, puts AA at hind teat-again.
Get used to it, won't get any better in the forseeable future with this mismanagement bunch. In fact, I'll be shocked if AA even survives after all the lies, resentment thats festered over the yrs. Merger IMO, highly...possible.

And I won't be around slick. If I haven't resigned yet, I'm gone first wave. Working hard to get out of here FAST.

Bob and "hell no, vote NO"

Seems his justification for voting NO today is the prefunding. I just took a quick look at what I paid into my prefunding account since the failed TA and its less than $250.00. What is the return on my investment Bob, would I have been better off investing the $250.00 elsewhere or should I stay in for the long haul? What did voting "NO" gain me?

What title group might that be?
No specific Title group, I just do not believe that the International should give up years of negotiations just to keep headcount up to protect the dues machine that pays their salary.
