TWU negotiations.........what?

Sick time, a part of our compensation package (AMTs). That is money left behind for those of us that will be let go and no chance of recall. It stands to reason that those monies should be paid out to those employees. I know of many coworkers with significant sk banks that would be able to use that cash to help them start over. I have over 450 hours which comes out to a little over $15K. Thats alot of money to leave behind. A union worth anything would be lobbying for employees sick time to be paid in full along with the severance and any unused vacation. Yes, I know we do not have a union capable of such an act. I just thought to throw it out there to see if anyone else was of the same opinion.

I think the BEST you could hope for on that is what those who retire receive. $25 per day of unused sk days; about a tenth of what you're expecting...

I know what the contract calls out. That does not make it right. This is something that should be looked at in my opinion. When was that $25/day nonsense negotiated? 1960? All I`m saying is that is compensation we have earned, 5days/year, much like vacation.

Right, lol. I should know better than try to start a constructive conversation huh?

Can I assume your one of those tough guys that chooses to come to work and share you sickness with those around you? You've been played Player. $25 per day value when you were to retire or 1/2 pay option showed how much they cared about you. I can bet many of us haven't been suckered into banking such a high number as yourself.

I am more than willing to have a constructive conversation with you.

The half sick day was already a penalty for the AMT's. Now with the issue facing all of now, there are really only two choices, the use of your earned time before having your employment adjusted or find a way to get your money, as have been posted.

I do not believe that the TWU has been approached on this issue. If you would like I will do so at the largest local in the system. I believe that this is a very valid issue. Whether or not the union does anything, people will know.

Hey assume away! No I come to work as expected and do my job. Now with 22 years on the property I`m going to be shown the door. I do not think it is unreasonable to expect to recover that "banked" sick time. Since you like to "assume", I`ll assume you are one that burns all his sick and vacation time then whines about it to your coworkers. Who then hold a "hot dog benefit" for you becase you have exhausted all your sick time! Yeah, I`ve seen your type on the floor. No wonder this company is failing.
