TWU negotiations.........what?

It's not about the wage difference, it's about TUL using the roll call vote to dictate wages, benefits, or getting released! Why don't you let the Line decide our own fate....and, TUL decides it's own! Why bother having 17 presidents vote on motions if TUL has so much power and can dictate everything?

So much for having seperate negotiations, and seperate maintenance locals because NOTHING has changed!

Why is it everytime I ask for specific amounts that the Line AMT thinks he is entitled to above the O/H AMT. all I get is TUL this and TUL that, or Roll Call vote shafted us again?

How much is sleeping, surfing net on laptops, or hanging out on nights, weekends, and Holidays, while CS'ing and being off 4-5 days at a time without burning VC....

ANSWER THE QUESTION BOB!

And you are most likely asking the wrong person. Do you really believe that the membership has a clue as to what you are talking about?

Why bother? Yes why bother, having the mechanics tied to the TWU and it's Fleet Service and the Industrial Union socialist manifesto. Why not have a mechanics only union? Why not have a mechanics only group under the TWU, because the International are the ones who really run the union. The Internationals goal is not the same for most of the mechanics in the system that work for AA, in my opinion. I look forward to reading your posts inthe Occupy Wall Street thread. Are you for all of the things that are proposed and do you care that it is your dues monies that are funding the agenda? The International could at least ask. The more this type of behavior that is allowed, the more members will ask the question "How do I get on Agency Fee?.
Well Buck, you ask a great question.....why not have a mechanics only group?

And, I ask you Buck....why is AMP having a hard time convincing the TUL membership to have a mechanics only union???

Why are YOU having a hard time selling AMP to your brothers and sisters.....you're right there????

I care about my dues money because I'm paying for a service and getting NOTHING in return, and if it was up to me, I would have stopped paying the TWU 20 years ago, but you can't stop paying them......The TWU is more like LA CASA NOSTRA....organized crime families....pay and shut up!

I'm all for AMP, AMFA or the Jesus Christ union.....it doesn't matter what union it is, as long as it's not the TWU and the TWU structure!

Why dont you come on out and find out what a line guy does? Do you have a A/P license to exercise your seniority to come out and have fun with us on Saturday night graveyard shift? It will be you, me, and some other idiot on a 80 A-check with an APU change tonight. Gee I hope the last guy on this plane was motivated enough so we do not have to change a couple of brakes and tires. There is also a placard on the #2 fuel flow indication. FMR says they already shotgunned the indicator so it looks like someones gonna eat some fuel sitting in the cowling changing the Xmitter. Maybe I can find something for you to WELD you IGM POS because lord knows you probably would not have a friggin clue on how to troubleshoot the inbound autothrottle write-up.

Well Buck, you ask a great question.....why not have a mechanics only group?

I have been trying for over twenty years, I hope that you have to. If you have you know the answer.

And, I ask you Buck....why is AMP having a hard time convincing the TUL membership to have a mechanics only union???

Why are YOU having a hard time selling AMP to your brothers and sisters.....you're right there????

You assume that I (we) are only attempting to convince A&P mechanics. After all that is what is on the line, right?

I care about my dues money because I'm paying for a service and getting NOTHING in return, and if it was up to me, I would have stopped paying the TWU 20 years ago, but you can't stop paying them......The TWU is more like LA CASA NOSTRA....organized crime families....pay and shut up!

So at least we both have the same opinion concerning the TWU.

I'm all for AMP, AMFA or the Jesus Christ union.....it doesn't matter what union it is, as long as it's not the TWU and the TWU structure!

ANSWER THE QUESTION BOB!

I answered your question! Look, UPS ground has the best set up.....they have a national agreement that covers all of their over the road drivers and then they have locals such as Local 705 in the Chicago land area that negotiate local wages and benefits and work rules that are specific to that region. Why not have a system like that????...only ORD mechanics know what it takes to live in Chicago, and the same goes for any other stations out there. If ORD had the majority YOUR wages would be much higher because the rates would be set according to our standards of living, and if that was the case I would guarantee AA would of had Geo rates in our contract a long time ago for places like TUL or DFW. They're not paying GEO because they know TUL dictates my pay and as long as they keep in house maintenance, AA won't have to pay that. And, the TWU will always agree to do whatever AA wants as long as 6000 union dues paying members work in TUL.

Bottom Line.....ORD Line doesn't expect or want other work groups or stations dictating OUR pay! We want to be able to set our own wages for ORD, and until the TWU figures out a system where each station can dictate their own rates without interference from other locals and work groups.....WE WILL NOT HAVE UNITY!!!!!

I will use the Bob Owens' excuse. I hired in at Tulsa, my family is here, and family is more important than coming to where you are at.
Funny thing, many welders have gone out and done the A&P job here in Tulsa, and every A&P with a G-job brings them to us instead of welding themselves.

Your name calling made your point quite well.
Don't you have enough seniority to get out the fuel spill and join us here in "anybody can do our job'ville"?

And I think you are doing a find job and answering strikeforce's question about why AMP is having a hard time in Tulsa.

I can learn anything as easy as you have learned. Unless of course you were born an expert Golden Wrench Guru, which I doubt.
Those of you that act as if you died next week the airline would shut down crack me up.
Your A&P is nothing more than a License to LEARN.

You got the wrong guy if you think I would burn a cross, much less in your yard. You have me confused with your liberal thug friends. And you didn't just use a parable to make a point Bob, you prefaced with "For someone who claims to be a Christian you need to brush up on Christ's teachings." That is much more than "extrapolating the message of a parable" by far and no matter how many times you claim you meant something else, that is what you said period. There is a huge difference between personal attack, and extrapolating the message of a parable", even as wrong as you are about the message.

Maybe you are being compensated for what you do and your abilites like the parable states rather than what hours you work and where you live. Ever think about that possibility? I mean I haven't worked at your station but I have heard rumors and seen a video or two on the news. Are your members busting ass every hour of their shifts while getting shafted on nights, weekends, and holidays? Should members that have spouses that work make less than those that don't since their cost are higher to live in New York? How far do you want to take this unfairness thing anyway? Using your logic, shouldn't a healthy employee who doesn't use medical get more compensation that the sickly guy taking more for medical payments? Next thing you know AA will take DNA and pay us based on medical liability potential.

I think I have asked this before Bob, but here it is again.

SPECIFICALLY, how much more per hour should you make than a Overhaul guy to be fair in your mind?

I mean given your horrible trampling by AA having to work Holidays, Nights, Weekends, even though you hired into that and agreed to it on employment entry, just as you did hire in at the high cost of living New York area, given your higher cost of living and that $2.55 premium wasn't enough, then how much is enough?

Again I voted yes, for your $2.55 line premium and would again next week.

I see "turn the other cheek" isnt a favorite of yours either and its beyond you to ever make anything personal.

Did you vote YES for my $2.55 line premium or for your skill premium? I seem to recall something about being glad to not be on the short end of the stick and pleased that others would be.

When I hired in at AA the real compensation was was around 60% more than it is now. You could live OK in New York on the wage and like a King in Tulsa on it, now you live probably a little better than OK in Tulsa and not so good in New York.

I think Midnights should be a 10% premium, afternoons 5%, line or OH, those shifts cause havoc on your personal life and increase your odds of dying from Cancer or accidents but I feel that what we have on the table right now is adequate as far as line, shift and Geo as long as we get the chart rates where it should be and other articles restored.

Its not so much the difference between the two that concerns me but the total, if the base guys want to keep us all exactly the same and shoot for $50/hr I'm OK with that as well, what I'm against is when guys say "its good enough for us here so it should be good enough for you there". You have a point as far as the greater flexibility and down time we have on the line, but from what I've heard from guys from Tulsa, both the jerks who say "move to Tulsa" and the guys who say "you guys do need something more to live here, I dont know how you do it" is they dont want to risk pricing themselves out of a job.

The two out of three in Tulsa were only getting .81 cents per hour. That is why it failed. period.

Glad to hear it, we all need to get more than what was in the TA.

Perhaps the time has come for separate contracts between the Line and Overhaul?

That would be similar to farming out Line Maintenance or Overhaul, however make sure that you seperate maintenance from Fleet Service....

Seperate negotiations, seperate contracts, AMP.....let's just get this done because all this bickering isn't helping anybody. And, it's getting old!

So, we're do WE start????

ANSWER THE QUESTION BOB!

Line mech market rate is $43 an hour (swa) more at Fedex or UPS. OH market rate is $25-$27 (on the high end)

If you want the line mech life style (cs's or work schedule), transfer to a line station.

There is your answer.

Sounds familiar. If you want weekends off, low cost of living, and if you want to vote with the majority, transfer to Tulsa.
I just can't see the majority taking a $5 per hour pay cut to get you an $11.00 per hour raise.
I can see the problem, but I am not part of your solution.
And I say that with Pride. There is my response.

Tech services and sim mechs each have seperate contracts from line/OH within the TWU. I don't see why it would be any different for OH and line to have seperate contracts.

Not to worry Duke, the LINE will have to do the same thing WE did with Fleet when Fleet represented AMT's in DFW, ORD, JFK, MIA and LAX! We got our seperate negotiations and We're gonna get our seperate contracts....give it some time!
