TWU negotiations.........what?

And that's what a lot of people do. Yes, they owe the company vacation time by borrowing and borrowing from the next years bucket.

Borrow, from the next year?? That's diiferent.

It would take more than a meager $2.72/hr to get me to JFK. Areas like that and LAX, ORD, SEA should be bumped at least $5.00/hr more.
And I agree, the step pay plan absolutely provides the company with labor at a lowball rate. Any mechanic worth his salt, will be right at home with the Co & fleet within 3 yrs(we all are still learning-but you get it). And I don't think any contract should be over 3 yrs in duration.
Unless, of course you've got acceptable language AND wage rates in place/locked in. Something practically unheard of...

Oh...& yep, I'm headed to TULE very soon. Going home!... ;)

My condolences!
Bird,
Rumor on the Rock is that their are seven 757's dead on the ramp waiting for C checks and that AA tried to contract out the work, but was unable to find anyone to handle the job in a cost effective timely manner. Can you give us the no bs assessment of the situation up there?

737's falling dead also.

Bob Owens,
We are hearing that the mediator in last weeks negotiation session called you guys, "a bunch of pricks," and the AA side of the table started to laugh. Don Vedeitich was quick to say, "you can't say that," and the laughing got louder. My question is, can we file a formal complaint with the NMB, and was Don's quick response to that statement just impulse?

Word was that 7-9 757's were going to be farmed out because their yields are off. Last word was that the union was working on a plan with the mechanics to try and keep the work in house.

Side: if you go to the JetNet careers page and look at the job postings, you will a lot of jobs that are not being filled by bidders. Rumor is it that the docks were to be 4/10 with TWT off.....

Hers tonight that the manager over Hangar 5 ( 757 land ) is going to the Pulse Line ( MD80)

One could only hope!! It really isn't right to be the ONLY 737 C check line working weekends for straight time while everyone else is getting OT.
I was informed yesterday that 1C was actually on 7-day coverage, however working M-F, 5/8's with OT to cover the weekend....

Hearing there will soon be a change in duty time. One day in 7 will have to be taken off, so no more Sat/Sun overtime. That's a game changer.

I`ve read the same proposed change from the FAA. If that were to come to pass it would benefit the company. That would eliminate "double time" for good as I see it. Yes I`m aware we lost that in 2003, but for the airlines out there that still pay double time it is indeed a game changer. It would not eliminate overtime just 7th day. Either way it is another case of the government getting into my back pocket while they continue to extort us at the gas pump.
