TWU negotiations.........what?

Uhm, aren't those Southwest employees represented by TWU?

Southwest Airlines CEO Gary Kelly credits strong labor relations for helping build profits at the company, the most highly unionized of the major U.S. carriers.

"We feel that if we take care of our employees, they'll take care of customers and, in turn, that will take care of shareholders," he told Reuters.

Huuh, how's that for a business attitude toward your employees??

You guys desperately need to dump the TWU. It's beyond belief that the TULE mechanics can't see the light and make the change. Why is it AFW & DFW were AMFA strong back in that drive? Yet TULE mechanics (generally speaking)can't seem to leave "the husband that continues to beat the hell out of the wife"? Jeezzzz, just fricken amazing man.
I know...I'm preaching to the choir.

it's like this, 787..
The pro management ilks that post here believe that ONLY the unions need to change and adapt. They blame the unions as obstacles' against AA's competitive edge.
The only thing they fault AA management for is for AGREEING to fair contracts over the past few decades in the first place.
They are secretly hoping that AA goes bankrupt so a judge can abbrogate all labor agreement and AA will be free to run the business as they see fit. After all, AA has the best management team in the industry according to some pundits.
They see no problem with executive compensation and perks, but see a dire need to screw the workers further with regards to our compensation and benefits....
They preach the company mantra how lucky we are to have pensions after giving this company 30-40 years of service, but see no problem with inking a deal with some disloyal executive guaranteeing him/her a few million after only a few years of service.
These are the same people who see no problem with a bankruptcy judge tearing up labor contracts BUT leaving alone the contracts the executives have with the company..After all, an executive contract is iron-clad...but a union's is disposable at will!

Pro-managment supporters are ALWAYS right! Just ask them..
Management can do no wrong in their eyes!

Not at all. Individual workers are certainly free to decline overtime for any reason they deem worthy.

Union leaders cannot encourage their members to decline overtime - doing so risks judicial consequences.

I'm certain that you can see (and appreciate) the difference.

Yes we can see the difference. The courts ruled that Corporations can encourage their employees on which candidates to vote for, use shareholders monies without their consent to support politcal issues and candidates and have all the rights of free speech that a citizen has, even if its primarily owned and controlled bu foreigners, but Unions, that are made up entirely of US based workers who pay US taxes, can not even tell their members what they need to do to move deliberately stalled negotiations. Where' is a unions right to free speech?

The workers in this industry have been told that they can not excercise their rights by a government thats a big benificiary of the industry and the suprression of our rights is saving corporations billions of dollars, dollars that we would be using to provide food, shelter education and enjoyment to our lives, instead these monies get divied up between other corporations who are not being held back from getting the best deal from the carrier they can get. Despite the fact that the operations of AA shrank many components in the expense catagory have gone up, and its not just fuel. The government collects huge amounts of revenue from the industry, revenue thats been increasing. In the meantime workers cant pay their bills as their real income continues to decline. The fact is that the government has hogtied and muzzled the Unions and the workers have only two choices if they want to be treated fairly, leave the industry or disrupt operations to the point that the government realizes that continued supression of workers rights will no longer produce desired results. Thats my opinion, that if there isnt significant disruption to the operations through either work to rule, spontaneous sick outs, OT refusals and other legal actions of individuals our conditions as a group will continue to decline as the corporations continue to get richer off our labor. If expressing my opinion puts me in violation of the law then f#@k it, I dont give a damn, this is not the America is was led to believe I grew up in and that needs to be challenged in the way that others have challenged injustice in the past in this country.

It's not rocket science 787......Do you think it was just by coincidence that AA has it's largest maintenance base in Tulsa OK. TULE mechanics don't see the light because they have the majority, and can manipulate the vote to THEIR liking, and screw everyone else. Bottom line.....the rejected T/A would have passed, but Tulsa didn't like the fact that Line was getting structural increases and they were getting a bonus. Period! It had nothing to do with 24/7 coverage and all the other non-sense. Let's just call a spade, a spade.

Bob, if the cowardly leadership In Tulsa had your courage we could together make a statement that the compAAny could not ignore.

They would vote Bob out. and put a fleet service clerk in charge. Besides have you not heard, Bob is going to be the fall guy!

I don't blame the union so much as I blame TUL mechs for not realizing today's climate. I think it is outragious for TUL mech to expect AA to have a/c sitting idol at the bases over the weekends. I also see that line mechs will have sacrifice so base mechs can make weekend pay that line mechs don't get now or in the company's proposal.

Hmmm, I work @ TULE and all these so called facts (rocket science) are news too me... Line mechs vs OH mechs..lmao..never ceases to amase me the comedy I read from people playing the blame game. One day it's the TWU's fault..next it's TWA's....It's the line guys...it's OH guys...oh wait it's TULE's now..pffffff. Make up your minds or look in the mirror at whose fault it really is. Bob, Ken, Dave and a handful of others on here actually are in the thick of things trying to make a change...while others sit behind their keyboards trying to change the world by posting BS that they think must be true. The way I read it is a handful of dumb @ss's from TULE think one way so blame everyone @ TULE cause they all must be that way ? Ignorant

It's nice to know that there will be no problems with the bases working a 24/7 operation. Thanks for the info...........I hope your colleague's agree with you.

So, you must believe We're all ignorant to the facts that......since TULE holds the majority, YOU allowed AA to bring in lower paid helpers SRP, OSM's. You, failed to get rid of the TWU during the AMFA drive, and now are holding back AMP from getting enough cards for an election. You, don't live in a high cost of living stations like ORD, JFK, and LAX.

Yes, I'm ignorant to believe that Bob, Ken and Dave will succeed and get us a deal anytime soon!

Where does this leave you, Dumb ass, or ignorant? Because from your rant it doesn't sound like you included yourself in trying to make a change. Face it, TUL fears change, and actually enjoy's the getting raped by the twu, its classic battered wife syndrom.
