TWU negotiations.........what?

Bob Gless petition

Signed the petition a day or two ago.
Somehow I still feel screwed, unimportant, and still working under concessions while this unelected leader drives a car that is paid for, fueled, insured, and tired on my back. And that is on top of $150,000.00+ per year. Yeah that petition is almost as powerful as a TWU t-shirt with a slogan on it.

Signed it for what it`s worth. Now, why are there not petitions for ALL the international "officers"?

The unlimited outsource scope modification proposal by AA, with the reduction in force protection is catering to the Line AMT.
All it would take after ratification is an early retirement package and presto the overhaul majority will be gone.
Retirements with outsource equals bye bye OH.

Then the next negotiations, the complete gutting of overhaul will take place with the then blessed line majority finally getting their due and overhaul or what is left of it will then be full blown MRO standards.

I hope in the end you guys enjoy your wealth obtained at the expense of others.

And then anually you can still go rally against corporate greed. And you can tell your grandchildren that you saved the profession at the expense of a huge number of overhaul base unionized jobs.

Did you guys get Sam Cirri intoxicated or does he just not care about overhaul AMT jobs?

Sam didnt write it or agree to it, neither did the committee. As you said "proposal by AA".

Didnt you vote "Yes" on a TA that explicitely allowed the company to sell off up to 25% of the value of the Maintenance operation on any given year and did not roll system protection up to DOS? Where they could go above that as long as the buyer offered something to the employees? How much do you think the Hangars in DFW, ORD, LAX, MIA, SFO, BOS and NYC are worth? My guess is that they probably add up to more than 75% based on the real estate alone, add in the state of the art facility at AFW and I would say that Tulsa would fall below 25% of the market value for the Maintenence operation. How much did MCI bring in? How much did AAR pay for the UAL Indianappolis facility? The fact is that the market price for those facilities is based primarily on the value of the Real Estate. Real estate values are much higher at airports like LGA, JFK, BOS, LAX, MIA where space is limited and in high demand than in places like Tulsa where there is room to expand.

Sam expressed that he was against the TA right after taking office, seems he cares more about saving jobs in Tulsa than you do.

As far as "catering to the Line AMT" the proposal also included the ability to do A and I checks overseas.

YES Bob, I voted yes on T/A.
And as you have pointed out previously it was because I have no confidence in the TWU to get anything better.

And following your lead, after over 1 year now, the offer keeps getting worse. So far, who has been right?

If you are going to continue to bash me for voting yes, then at least demonstrate that I was wrong by showing us some financial improvement. While following your lead on the vote NO band wagon and the continuous scream for a release, nothing has changed except furniture movement. I personally think you are living a false hope and in the end it will be proven that it is not going to get any better but instead get worse.

How many jobs and how much in cash will this version of "save the profession" cost us Bob?

the consultant that says we want a ton. Maybe he should understand what we all gave up in 2003.

Dave,
You make some good points, (and make some good arguments) but I boil it down to simple things...... Management kept all their benefits and money and lost Prefunded Retirement Insurance. We lost everything to keep the Prefunding and pension. I am not about to give them the prefunding now. And for what? The promise that instead of the $2.55 per hour that line guys get they promise there will be a "Variable Compensation" for O/H That will be figured out within 180 days??? These people have not kept a promise yet. I will not vote for a contract that promises anything. Remember David Boren said the board of directors would never forget what we did to save the company? Guess what? They forgot. Yeah is sucks to stay under this contract, but the offer was crap. Enough is enough. But remember. Bob is the only one who is keeping us advised of the goings on at negotiations. I am sure the International is not happy with this, but he does it for us because he cares about the membership.

I'll give you the Cliff's Notes version. They don't care. More importantly, the NMB doesn't care. If they haven't done so already, they will make that abundantly clear to you union leadership and negotiators.

The NMB, whether it be from the top or our designated mediator, has told the pilot group time and time again that we we asking for "unrealistic" goals and that "it doesn't matter how much management makes or gives themselves in bonuses" So you ask, "how does the NMB know how much the airline can afford?" Rest assured, they get their "recommendations" directly from the company, which (of course) pleads that if they give anyone a raise, Chapter 7 is tight around the corner.

If you do not capitulate to the NMB's "guidance", rest assured they will park you and make life difficult for you.

It is really sad to see that the NMB is yet another bought and paid for branch of government that corporate america owns.

If one remembers, TWU pushed for Obama, with the caveat that we would get a pro union mediator in the NMB. So, as a result I supported going to mediation and supported Obama for that matter. But looking back, I would say that was wrong, Kane gave the company tons of oppurtunities to never come to the table with anything. Now, there's no release. Bad bad mistake.

Everyone needs to realize two things:

1) Kane WILL NOT release us in the near future!
2) If and when we ever do get released, the President will step in....There's a helluva lot of AA employees based in Obama's home town of Chicago, Ill.

I hope I am wrong!

<_< ------ Well, the only other alternative is to let your needs be known on the clock!------- Which frankly I haven't seen, or heard, happening!!! You'all want to set back and let this contract put on a silver platter and set down before you?----- Do something about it!!!------ The toothfairy ain't going to put it under your pillow!!!

No need to give me that advice! ....Some are simply content watching TV and catching up on laptop games..and oh yes..complaining how the union is doing nothing....go figure.

<_< ------Hey! I can't give advice remember!----- I'm out of it! (Thank God!) In my 40 years in the Industry I've been on both ends of the stick! Both the long end, and the short, so I know where your at! ------ But this isn't the same Airline Industry I hired on with, so I guess I should keep my mouth shut!!! All I can say is Good Luck to you all!----- You'll need it!

Of course you can still give advice.. i meant no need to give it to ME'' :) .....I know what needs to be done...As for your 40 years, if only the younger crowd knew how to "stick it to them" like people of our generation know how to.

Some say the company is more than happy to keep the status quo with regards to the impasse in contract talks..
But I realizie more and more that many members are also happy with the status quo..even if they need to work a second job or every bit of OT the company offers them!

No need to keep your mouth shut!
