TWU negotiations.........what?

Fort Worth-based American said it has spent $5.5 billion over the past five years to renew its fleet and improve its planes and facilities for customers.
American is ordering 15 737-800s this year, 28 in 2012 and 11 in 2013.
The airline is also upgrading the interiors of its existing fleet of 737-800s and its fleet of 757s

Plenty of money just none for us

"keep doing what your doing and youll keep getting what your getting"

Happy AMT DAY !!

AFW management would like to show their appriciation by offering a free chicken dinner catered by Babe's Chicken House in Roanoke TX. This chicken dinner is in LIEW of 8 years of concessions and several years of stalled contract talks. Will you eat the forbiden fowl?
Bob, I saw the letter on participating in AMT day events from your local, unfortunatly our local does not feel the same way.
That was my screw up. Last year we didnt boycot it, I made a last minute decision and never got in touch with the other Presidents. I've no doubt that if I had that AFW, DFW, LAX and MIA would have supported us if we had asked. Our decision was in part motivated by the behavior of Local management, in particular JFK where they constantly violate the contract just to keep us busy. Last week they arbitrarily decided to change the way we sign up for OT, despite the fact we have a long standing arbitrated settlement on OT, this week they decided that they have the right to readminister the A-25 test whenever they feel like it , they usually start these things on a Saturday when there's less Union representation presence and its getting somewhat annoying. This on top of eight years of concessions made the offer of a sandwich hypocritical. So we asked that the guys not accept it, some did, some didnt. Just goes to show how much work we have to do before we get to the 30day cooling off period and self help.

Bob,

These are all typical negotiating games management plays because they know there's no pushback from the guys and union leadership. These games are obviously sanctioned by Ken Durst, and the higher ups, otherwise local management will not put themselves at risk. So, the union has to play the same games, Bob! I know you're a lot smarter than management, Bob! I at least hope so, for the memberships sake!

There were several members at AFW that contacted local 567 and asked if this local was going to put out a letter similiar to the letter at local 562. The local treasurer (Bob Kirk) reponded by saying and I quote we don't play those bullshit games like New York. To me that local has officers that will at the very least stand up and say that the company is lieing to you and they don't respect you. We have officers like Bob Kirk and Matt Lorenzi that won't do anything unless it helps the company or themselves. We all know from experience with these two especially Matt. Remember the fling he had with the local secretary and the drunken e-mail to MCI and TUL. If anybody would like to contact local 567 about why they didn't have a letter or anythingelse the number is 817-232-9471.

Starting????? ;)
I just don't know why Larry is not as vocal as Bob, they say they're on the same page but Bob's letter's to his local are posted all over AFW by AMP organizers and supporters, when it should be his eboard and stewards doing the legwork. I know Larry and Bob stand together as far as restoring what we gave away, but as far as running a local, he might have some resistance from within, not only his drunk VP, but a few scared eboard guys looking for a international position.

Garry 'Red-hot Poker' Drummond & David Rosen 5/16/11

Paid $181,869.00 and $244,899.00 respectively (Garry is now a three time winner this year, and now the favorite)

TWU Local 501 filed for an injunction to prevent AA from outsourcing cargo/cabin work to an outside contractor. Yes, there are aggressive TWU officers out there. The presiding judge asked the TWU International to state its opinion. OK, this is a no brainer -- the International favors saving jobs . . . right??? NOPE!!! On May 10, 2011, TWU General Counsel David Rosen told the court: "We support Local 501's right to sue under the constitution, but after careful deliberations we chose not to join the Local in this action". Rosen is another example of a blue ribbon, teeth-chattering coward earning 6-figures at the TWU International -- $244,899.00 to be exact. Needless to say, the injunction was dismissed and traditional cargo/cabin work on AA property can be outsourced.

On May 16, 2011, Garry Drummond sent out a letter to Local Presidents explaining why the International Union didn't support Local 501's injunction. Brother Drummond wrote that management advised him the outsourcing of traditional Fleet Service work was a "minor dispute" and should be argued in arbitration. SAY WHAT . . . the TWU is getting Labor advise from management. Tell me Garry, what are your management advisers saying now that the mediator won't release us???

Figures, right. It's like a lesson in futility. Same answer APFA keeps getting NO, No and No, so to AA it's No, No and No.

Take care

And AA is perfectly fine with carrying on these negotiations forever. Saves them big money every month that goes by!

Why are we fooling ourselves on this forum. AA is pretty content with the way negotiations are progressing......and so are the TWU, Pilots, and F/A's. There is absolutely no pushback from any of the three.

Let's face the music and stop beating around the bush........As long as AA continues to enjoy their concessionary agreement of 2003, their operations run smooth, and the NMB sides with the company....why should AA negotiate in good faith? I'm certainly not surprised by their regressive proposals, are you?

Bob Owens, you will be released by the NMB, but on AA's terms, not yours. So, we either accept these regressive Yellow Dog proposals from the company, or it will be a long time before we get released by the NMB. Look, UPS went 6 years, and their mechanics & management love each other. We're only half way there, and our mechanics & management can't stand each other. The clock is definitely ticking, and it's ticking towards 2013, 2015, 2020. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it's the truth!

Sorry, but the truth is mechanics are still working as usual and not following the book VERBATIM as our required CBT dictates.

My shop, TULE Tool & Die, still runs out to the hangers almost daily to do work the mechanics either don't want to do or can't do, as if saving a manager's ass is the most important thing in the world.

It's an unfortunate situation, but only a relative few (as those who post here) are dissatisfied with the union and company games - I'd like to think otherwise but it ain't gonna happen anytime soon.

I believe your synopsis is correct Carmine, and all we are waiting for is the time when all parties at the table feel a proper show has been staged for the TWU membership's benefit, keeping the employment high for dues purposes and to get the International VPs some Escalades next year.

Here's an oldie but a goodie! You have to wonder if the twu international is capable of putting together something like this, even though they have no direct intrest.

Looks like the United guys did the right thing. What's the TWU going to do now?
