TWU negotiations.........what?

Interesting how that $180 million is just about the same as the $190 million that Bob Owens says the current table position would cost AA.

then AA should outsource, not hire any more people and grandfather all current members under a new contract and all new members under another.
If they could achieve $180m in savings with average outsourcing, you're talking maybe double that using the highest outsource percentages of AA's competitors.

<_< -------- People! People! People!------Can't you see it? This talk of third party work is doing nothing but muddying the waters! A stalling device! Another way to get them down the road another month or two! We heard it before at MCIE! Upper AA management has no real interest in third party work, believe me!! It's just a means to kick the can down the road a ways!!! Nothing more!!! -------- And talk about outsourcing, and bankrupcy, will always be part of these negotiations!

Nothing...I do not believe there is anything preventing AA from contracting out. I do believe that should AA transform the base(s) into an MRO type facility with respect to cost structure, they would prefer to keep that under AA control and kee the current workforce, albeit with a separate cost structure and work rules.

AA's cost structure will never be that of an MRO. AA maintains their a/c to a higher standard than any MRO would and while they claimed years ago that they aren't building Cadillac's any more, in reality they are. Allegiant would not allow AA to fix their a/c like we would fix our own, saving a bundle. We currently have enough mechanics in Tulsa to perform all the work to an industry standard on a 5 day schedule if manAAgement would just get their acts together and the workforce would just get over their obsession with down time.

TULE's management will never get their act together as the empire building is more important to them. It's unfortunate those higher on the food chain either have no clue or the 'nads (possibly both apply) to fix the problems at hand.

Hiring more people to appease the TWU with dues money when the company is severely overmanned is no way to run a business anymore than the notion of adding more supervision and management will cure all problems. More management simply means more layers of people one can blame for their own ineptness.

I'll give them the opportunity to show me but, like you, I'm very skeptical re: the intent. However - them first. While I'll do my job, AA's mismanagement team has a way to go in order to prove their intent.

Personally, I don't believe they are able but I'll watch the festivities - it's still some of the best entertainment one can get paid for attending.

True...
But I think we are finally arriving at judgement day. I believe this time the company wants the changes with regards to new hire pensions and base work rules. their counter proposals are going to mighty interesting.

1. What does a Managing Director of Organizational Development do, apart from pull a massive salary?

2. How do I get a job with the International, if I'm not related to someone there already, and have real qualifications?

<_< ------- Bob, that tune is getting old! We did what we did because of who we were! AA's, and the TWU's, red headed step children! (In other words, to survive!) We did just that for ten years! ------- If we would have acted otherwise, I feel MCIE would have been closed much sooner!------ But, at this point in time, we'll never know, now will we? And as far as these negotiations are concerned, it realy doesn't matter now does it?

<_< ------- Bob, that tune is getting old!

I'm sure it is but so is the "The Victims Lament", otherwise known as "The Reheaded stepchilds blues". Yes MCI got their extra 7 years but we all , everywhere, even the redheads that remain, paid the price for it and continue to pay it.

I don't want to gang up on MCI, but Bob does have a point.....Discussing and debating the AA/TWA is getting old. EVERYONE (native AAEr and native TWAer) needs to let it go.
