TWU negotiations.........what?

The next meeting date with mediator J. Kane is set for April 6th. Jim Weel has asked that the full M&R Committee be present as he will present the final offer with enhancements. Highlights are as follows:

New top rate of $45/hourly retro to amendable date

40 hours pay for midnights but only work 6 hour shift

7 weeks max vacation

10 holidays with 3X pay for HW

Full pay on all sick days retro to amendable date

Full personal apology from Jim Weel and Gerard Arpey for not settling sooner

Pending approval by the full committee voting will commence April 29th. Retro checks will be direct deposit on June 10th. Apology tour starts July 5th with carne asada and papas fritas to be served to all shifts by Jeff Brundage.
Still a NO for me,.....Belated April Fools

"40 hours pay for midnights but only work 6 hour shift"

Fyi...6.5 hrs worked for 8 hrs pay, is the mids shift at Boeing/Puget Sound.

UPS ratifies their contract. They just raised the bar to $50 an hour.
I hope UAL/CAL turn theirs down.
Lets see what our negotiators at AA will do. With pressure from the UPS contract and the AMP drive the TWU must come up with a good contract or it will be BYE BYE TWU.

Probably should get a negotiations date set first.

They could be just sitting on their ass and waiting for AMP cards to start expiring in June or watch them file.
AMP boys keep claiming a filing is near, so why negotiate? Just wait for a filing or cards to expire at that point them AMP either becomes a liar and moot or TWU uses negotiations as a reason not to replace them.

AMP should have filed by now, it seems they don't have the numbers they claim. you need a better contact in ord.

we willn't get the ups contract. they employ 1220 and they turn a profit ,

AA employs 9000 plus title one and they are not all A&P's, AA knows how to hide there money. Management to top heavy at AA.

Step up and be AMP's ORD contact person!

Well it looks like we will be meeting for two days this month with the company.

My guess is the company will employ a tool that has worked very well for them in the past , a Powerpoint BOO factor show. It was after one of these in 2009 that the Union decided to drop their table position and work off the companys May 2008 proposal because we had to "show the 6th floor we want to fill all those white spaces". A month ago the company was claiming they needed 7 day coverage in the bases so they could create more spaces because they didnt have any spaces available to do the work they have. Just goes to show how credible these presentations are.

My guess is: They will take a bunch of numbers and throw in a lot of fancy accounting terms and claim the only way they can meet the Unions demand to pay number 4 in the industry is to farm out or spin off Overhaul, as other carriers are realizing that farming out costs more in the long run. In 2009 the company was only threatening to eliminate 1200 jobs, in reality they couldnt, now they will probably threaten to eliminate 6000 jobs, my guess is the reality is the same. They have more work than we can handle, in the past when that happened they just sent the stuff out, like when they sent the 727s to Delta. My guuess if they had someplace to send these airplanes they would have already. If they cant find a home for a handful of 757s where would they send 600 airplanes?

Bob, haven't you heard? AA is arranging its bankruptcy plan as we speak.

I hope all AA employees share with me a heartfelt congratulations for a job well done to our executives who are preparing to have bestowed upon them their annual PUP pay.

Bankruptcy cant fix airplanes they might as well liquidate...

Well then they should get on with it, and I'd have no problem following in the footsteps of Michael Quill and telling the Judge what he can do in his long black robes.

Who is American going to blame this time?

They got the bankruptcy plan- (Vermont plan)
they got the great concessions of 2003
they reduced headcount year over year
Productivity on paper went up
uninterrupted service
peaceful negotiations
Management bonuses
new airplanes
new terminals
8 years for one contract and counting.......

what is the companies arguement here?

I know somehow it is my fault again!

History has shown that airline mismanagment will outspend any concessions that employees give up and that alone will not save any airline. Some airlines figured it out an reward their employees with industry leading contracts and they are still here! Yet, airlines like American continue to cut employee pay and benefits and they are threatening bankruptcy time after time.

Rumor at AFW is....
Company Dog and Pony show scheduled for April 28th at a hotel near DFW airport, not at the Hurst location where they have been meeting in the past. Doom and gloom power point presentation on if they accept our proposal they will have to file for BK in five years.

I say, wake me up when the presentation is over and What's for lunch?

So, with the Labor Board trying to stop Boeing from opening their SC. plant http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/23/business/23labor.html?partner=yahoofinance , could it affect our negotiations? If things don't get settled soon, will we be released in the near future?
