TWU negotiations.........what?

Rumor at AFW is....
Company Dog and Pony show scheduled for April 28th at a hotel near DFW airport, not at the Hurst location where they have been meeting in the past. Doom and gloom power point presentation on if they accept our proposal they will have to file for BK in five years.

I say, wake me up when the presentation is over and What's for lunch?

While I would not be suprised if some in the International tried to play up the inevitable doom and gloom show (some still love to throw out the specter of "BK") I'm not too concerned with anything they decide to put in their little slide show. The group of guys that are in there now have ignored them in the past and will do so again.

In the past these presentations contradict each other. One presentation will say that we need low wages to compete with Timco because if we cant get more 3P work to fill the white spaces we will have to cut 1200 heads. The next one will say that despite adding 900 heads we need to have 7 day coverage because we have too much work and cant meet the company's needs with a five day operation.

Now they will probably claim that our modest $190 million a year increase, coming out of $22billion in revenue (less than 1% of the revenue, the offer still leaves them with over $160 million a year in savings) will bankrupt the company, in the meantime they are in such bad shape that Arpey got an 11% increase, they ordered a few more 777s and they decided to pimp out all the baggage carts so the customers dont see rusty roofs..

Does anyone know if this historic event will be archived or an unedited transcript available on their website?

How can anyone be proud to be a member of a union that has to resort to a "campaign" for fairness?

We are not running for political office when seeking fairness.

Whatever happened to a Union that demanded and earned fairness instead of a Union that "campaigns" for fairness?

Give me a full refund of wasted 2 hours pay per month and that will be fairness as far as the worthless union goes.

How embarassing and weak can this go? Are we doing the LIMBO to see how low we can go?

Funny that this Q&A session comes prior to the next negotiation session, May9-13, where the company will give their counter proposals.
What a waste.

Hmm, a FAX number, I think I'll fax and email my questions along with a copy of the AMP constitution, Monday. Redundancy!

Effin Hilarious Dude,

A town hall meeting on the 4th and the companies counter offer on the 13th, now that's a "Fairness Campaign"

In light of the company's presentation on how they can't afford the TWU's last proposal and their emphasis on outsourcing, I have a funny feeling that their counter proposal will include a decent increase in outsourcing various work. If you review their presentation made on Thursday, they claim that AA would have saved $180 million if they had outsourced at AVERAGE levels of their network competitors.

At this point the TWU will start to really worry.....the company will begin stepping up the pressure on the bases.
The international will eventually be begging the company for the rejected TA.

Interesting how that $180 million is just about the same as the $190 million that Bob Owens says the current table position would cost AA.

What, under the current agreement prevents AA from contracting out work that it's present system protected workforce can't handle? Why have a/c sitting on the ramp out of time when I believe they have the contractural right to send it out now? Could it be there are no MRO's with ample space or manpower to perform these checks?

Nothing...I do not believe there is anything preventing AA from contracting out. I do believe that should AA transform the base(s) into an MRO type facility with respect to cost structure, they would prefer to keep that under AA control and kee the current workforce, albeit with a separate cost structure and work rules.
