You were speaking of "insulting" remarks a while back - I've got to tell you of an "encounter" with another of "Uncle Sam's Misguided Children", (a manager sort that was a Marine reserve officer). I'll not drop a name here as I don't know if he intends to return to AA.
He was talking to his bud (my previous supervisor who has since retired) about his upcoming deployment to Sandland and how the AA was attempting to hose him because of his reserve status.
Since I feel deeply that my Navy enlistment forever entitles me to give any Marine hell at every available opportunity, I walked into the office and told the Marine that we in the Tooling shop were all rather proud to have people like him representing our country's interests while in "THE OTHER BRANCH OF THE NAVY". The man went off.
I ran, and the poor supervisor was looking for something to crawl under and the ranting and raving went on for not less than 20 minutes - one of the best mights I ever had!

This video always bring tears to my eyes, tears of laughter. This is the convention in Las Vegas, pay attentions to the first part where they say they nominate their officers, our leadership, you can't cast a ballot for these clowns, why would you want to, they don't work for our company or care about your future. LOL just like the IAM cant blame them really. Where else can a bus driver or bag smasher make 150 to 250k a year unless they work their way up in the union be it the IAM TWU or IBT. I guess I should have played the game too and sold the BS to the rank and file and only looked out for myself and climbed the ladder of the industrial union.

Appreciate your in-site Lineguy, it's nice to have a third party opinion on how F"d up our union is. Hopefully in the near future this will change. GO AMP!

Holy Crap!! Did the guy at the end of this video actually say "People want to see what democracy is? This is democracy!" The international convention is the farthest thing from democracy! I NEVER got a ballot for Jim Little or anyone else that "ran" for office at the international level. This is a SHAM!!!
No wonder the twu fears AMP. AMP will bring true democracy and accountability to unionism for our craft and class. Love the t-shirts though.... very professional. Actually, this form of governance is little (no pun intended) different (except for the method of counting votes) than the Republican (representative democracy) form of government of the USA - one votes for the lacky of their choosing which, once elected, will toe the "company" line and forget about their former promises or risk their removal from their cushy positions by their peers, not the electorate.

Well, a little digging turned up precious little information. I mean why would the twu want its membership to know that after over 3 years of "negotiations" 10 articles have not been discussed. Another 4 awaiting a company counter and the membership completely in the dark? update??? ... :angry: :angry: :angry:

From the 02-11-2011 negotiations update...
The M&R Negotiating Committee appreciates your patience and support as we work toward an agreement. The next Mediation session is tentatively set for March 7-11, 2011 in Hurst, Texas. M&R committee members have been receiving questions from the membership regarding the frequency of the mediation sessions. We would like to remind the members the Mediator sets the dates for the sessions, based on his availability. The Committee will post an update at: http://aa.twu.org. Stay informed. That would be funny if not so sad..... So I guess this week will be more "dog chases tail" on article 12.
