TWU negotiations.........what?

Regardless of Stonecipher's reasoning, if a company desires to remain in control of its newest product's development, that company would be foolish to assign the R&D (considering it's happening at the same time as production) to an outside company - let alone a foreign company. An engineer had it right and, like Cassandra, was ignored.

The educated idiots (the fools with the MBA degrees) may well have destroyed their company trying to be PC and get foreign orders by spreading the work around. I wonder if Boeing's people noticed that some of these countries doing their work are in the pocket of Scarebus ...

I can tell you Boeing's got people right there on Airbus' front porch in Toulouse, FR. Doing business with French companys.
Also, Spirit Aerosystems who makes the 41 section as well as flap sections(and other parts) played there cards right, and are making sections, parts for the A350. In fact, (it's amazing)-if you go to Airbus' website, and have a look at the pictures/images of the A350 XWB(there answer to the 787), it-looks-identical to Boeings 787...I mean identical.

I've talked to many Boeing "lifers' up here, and they all can't believe how screwed up this program has become. On paper, I'm sure it looked great, and I can sort of see where they thought this was going to be a boom. But as the legacy line engineers and (finally Albaugh, BCA CEO conceeded, they lost way too much control over QA/mfg oversight, when they placed that much of the aircrafts mftg in vendors hands. Basically beating around the bush without eating your dose of crow front & center. Egos at stake here, you undertand). This thing has cost Boeing BIG. It will be a LONG time before Boeing makes ANY money off of 787s. They have taken an ass whipping they'll never forget.
Trust me.

And I know all too well exactly what you're talking about when you say "educated idiots"....jeeezzzzzz.
The older, legacy style guys are good-but generally are not on the 787(nor do they want to be). The younger college boys are idiots-that are "all knowing", that don't know which end of the plane goes down the runway first...

FYI - from TULE's Hanger 6, one can easily toss a rock onto Spirit's property ...

Yep, used to be a scheduler right there when they had the A300 heavys in there.
Year and a half, hated it, had to get out of there...

Wife and home still east of TUL. Why I'm trying to get in AFW!

Better get an agreement soon boys.

Better yet, better start storing can food, water, and general survival supplies and batton down the hatches.

$5.00 per gallon fuel not to far away, layoffs, financial crisis, and the perfect storm on the near horizon.

Being prepared is Fear? I always thought being prepared was smart. But to each his own.

Ok you go on down and whine and protest to some passengers at DFW.

Meanwhile I'll get ready.
I better get more ammo to protect from those many that will fail to prepared. Thanks for the heads up.
Once again, I will have mine...brother.

Now that's funny! Hunker down, and would you like to pre-vote yes on the next concessionary deal?

Are you really Jimmy L. posting on this blog?

I been following what everyone is saying but heres what I can't figure out. I get where guys ain't happy with TWU, but I want to know what AMP can really do for us? I look at their stuff and it's the same old AMFA. I keep hearing they are different, but they are not. It is the same pony with a different saddle and empty saddle bags.

If you look at who they represent, and look at the math, why do you think they want us? They don't really want us, they just NEED our money. They have a part time lobbyist in Washigton. Why? My money is because they can't afford it. And the one they got is someone who has an ad out looking for part time help. How is that gonna help us?

Maybe we need to look at our real problem. Why our local leadership can't get the job done. Maybe we should start going directly to the TWU and tell them we want them to get more involved if our local guys wont'.

We're gonna see higher fuel soon, thats no fairy tale. I dont see how jumping to a union with a lot fewer members tha we have, who is based in Colorado and needs our money to survive is gonna help us.

you're right. lots of questions need to be answered by AMP organizers, and not only at the bases. they need to come out to the line, as well. As far as theTWU, it's absolutely disorganized. The membership gave the leaders a mandate to bring back non-concessionary TA's, and what did they do....a concessionay TA. They obviously are not listening to the members. Same old TWU. Why didn't the TWU prepare for these negotiations back in 2003? What's our game plan going forward? There is none. Right after the TA was rejected we heard the TWU say "we hear you loud and clear".....do they? All I've seen is they shuffled the leaders around to make things appear that they're more militant, and organized.....are they? Look, it took one week to agree on Art. 39, which they agreed to previously. At this rate it might be 2013...2015...2020 by the time we get an agreement. C'mon, give me a break! We're already going on 8 years without real money. Everything around us is going up, and the TWU is just lolly gagging, and dragging their feet in negotiations. For me, this is more than enough reason to displace the TWU, RIGHT NOW! I don't care if it's AMP, AMFA, Teamsters, or the Sopranos, but I really think it's time for a change, or a revolution. Take your pick!

I guess we are hearing from a bubba believer or how his name states, somebody that cannot stop licking the companies boots. It is easy to state that you signed a card to cover your backside, but it sounds to me like the twu is getting a little (no pun intended) nervous along with the company. Go back and tell your handler to stop fishing we are not going to release any hard numbers so that the twu and company can pad the list with all the dead people that they did in the past. The sad part of this drive is that the twu has the shop stewards taking down fliers from the bill boards. This tells me that the twu knows that they have not been representing the members as well as they should and that they are trying to keep the membership from making an educated and informed decision. If they were confident that they were doing the best possible job, they would not be worried about a few fliers on the bulletin boards. Afterall look at the lies that the twu have spread since this drive have started. This is AMFA strait from Linda Dill,we don't care about title II people because are not aircraft mechanics. The bottom line is that we do care about the title II people. They are skilled, licensed craftsman at their trade along with the machinist, welders and other crafts in the the mechanic and related craft and class the same as an aircraft mechanic. The twu tries to manipulate these people by lieing to them. In the late 90s it was change from within, but know that we want to change from within the twu states that we can't do it on our own because we have no money and various other reasons well at approximatey $700,000 a month in dues money we won't have a problem. On one hand they say you are smart enough to do it on your own when that fits their needs, but on the other hand they try to tell the members that we need the international ( the same people that are lieing and stealing from the membership). Well you can't have it both ways. Look at the international reps that tried to sell us out on the first ta. Bob Zimmerman retiring at the end of the year and moving to Colorado to be with his girlfriend,Gordon Clark who cut a deal with company for a life time UBP position that the atd wants to keep quiet,Steve Gilboy lieing to the membership in ORD by telling them that AMP was a union created by the company to divide the membership,Steve Luis who said he would not bring back a concessionary contract back (until he got his internatioal VP position) and lets not forget the ring leader Don Viditich who was telling the local reps at the vote count that the failed ta will pass by 85%. How out of touch is he with the membership. I guess it is easy to be out of touch when you are making $150,000 + a year for selling your sole to the devil. You take your pick is the devil the twu,the company or both?
