TWU negotiations.........what?

I too wish you good luck with the stalemate of negotiations Bob.....with this company you'll need all the luck you can find.

The main problem is the TWu International will bring back more concessions as directed no matter what you do or how hard you fight. It's what the company has told it's wholly owned toy lapdog union they will agree to, or else. Little Jimmy and his TWu sellout friends will not jeopardize his millions upon millions in dues flow used to fund the TWu International lavish six-figure pay and lifestyle. The TWu International knows they can't be removed from office, so they can do as they please.

The TWu, unlike the APFA or the APA, continues to push the concessionary contract on us as we are all FULLY AWARE of (some of us anyhow) in August 2010. You don't hear the other AA unions doing the companies bidding, such as complaining about high fuel costs to their membership or participating in "Working Together' scams. No, the other AA unions are waiting for the next TWu sellout,t so they can clean up.

Will the TWu International lead any type of job action if or when it becomes necessary Bob? No they will not, unless directed to do so by AA management. It's Business Unionism 101 again, and to keep the millions flowing in the TWu coffers the International will sellout once again.....wait and see.

The only way we have any hope at all is to be finally be rid of the TWu International parasites.
Has anyone else seen the letter, supposedly written by Bob Ownes from last weeks preliminary meeting with the company? Is this letter truly from BOB Owens or is it a fraudelent letter?

ECLAT/Oliver Wyman has probably represented one side or the other in about half the labor negotiations done in the past ten years, with SH&E being involved in probably most of the rest.

At the end of the day there are less than a half dozen firms who understand airline economics enough to do labor relations consulting.

So bash these guys all you want for for making a living advising unions and companies on what is/isn't fair, but I doubt they're playing both sides of the fence on any given engagement. If they did, they'd never get hired again in the future, and they'd probably forfeit business from either side in future negotiations.

My company will regularly have two teams working on opposite sides of a given situation (e.g. one group advising travel agents how to get more money from airlines, and another group advising airlines how to stop paying travel agents). As long as there's a Chinese Wall between the respective teams and they're not conspiring or sharing confidential information, there's no harm, & no foul. The moment we breach those confidentiality agreements, we're liable for damages from both sides. It's no different with BCG, Bain, Accenture, Wyman, or SH&E.
What Odie is trying to say is that it does not matter if their were only two firms that did the work. The twu should have hired the other firm so the membership heard from another source other than the one that the company paid. Do you really think that eclat was going to tell the company that they needed concessions and tell the twu that they did'nt? I have no other reason to think that eclat was playing both sides of the fence. After all eclat tells the company what they were paid to tell them and eclat tells the twu what they were paid to tell the twu and nobody gets hurt but the membership. Everybody gets paid but the membership and nobody will tell on the other because they are all guilty. The company and the twu new exactly how much to push. That is why they did'nt ask for the pensions. If they asked for the pensions the twu could not sell that to the membership and stay on the property. All of the old timers would have voted no and the company would have had that black mark of bankruptcy on their record that they did'nt want. Now they have a feather in their cap that will help them when they need a loan. Oh and I'm sure that it was just a coincedence that Randy Babbitt was on the side of eclat and Jeff Brundage was on the side of AA. After all they go back along way to the days of when they worked for ALPA and negotiated the 16 year contract for the eagle pilots.

FYI...The TWU hired ECLAT for the concessions after being impressed by their work done for the company the previous summer on a pre-concessions presentation to all 3 unions. It was the warm-up the union for the concessions to come presentation.

<_< ------ Or getting paid to "work" this, and, or, other Airline forums!?

If that's the case, I wish they'd send me a check already after ten years.

Nice try, though. Although it gets a little old trying to say anyone who disagrees with you guys is a shill or on the take.

What is your cause, ground, interest, justification, motive, rationale, rationalization, or reason, for posting here?

How did the meet and greet go yesterday?
On a scale of 1-10

O.k.! I'll except that. ------ But it just seemed to me that your putting a lot of time here on this forum for a "working man".

I'd hope you'd accept it, as well. And it seems to me like you put a lot of time in here for a "retired man," but to each their own.

Rumor on the floor today was a deal with JAL for Thrust Reverser Work and something in the works with a partnership with Boeing has management wanting a contract in place. Heard the money would be raised but they still want their 7 day coverage, their lower paid ASM's, and their No Pension New hires.

Also rumor of the TWU taking the retirement medical over to get that issue off the table.

I think a deal will be struck pretty easy myself.

But they might have to party together until Friday to make it look good and announce then.
