TWU negotiations.........what?

this proposal is just another concessionary contract. the proposal is front loaded with a a few bucks as the dangling carrot. what is not being looked at is the back end give backs that will dwarf any money that we get up front. The members must make an informed decision before casting your vote on this. Get all the information on the proposals and look carefully at the langugae that is open ended or will be discussed at a later time. The buzz word was always a cost neutral contract. This meant that if you wanted a raise, you would have to pay for it through a concession. In my opinion, the TWU and the company gave a proposal that will drive it right past cost neutral head diving into concessionary if we accept it.

Modify the cap from 6% to 10% with the current counting methodology, but excluding
the following additional markets from the ASM Cap:
 BNA, RDU, SJC, STL Eagle routing
 Eagle pre-1993 ASMs
 Markets in which AA and AE both fly

Does this mean that AMR can re-establish hub operations in BNA, RDU, SJC and STL completely with Eagle aircraft and it not count
against the cap? Does it also mean that AMR could operate 15 Eagle flights daily between DFW and ORD but only one AA flights
and it would not count against the cap?

I'm not sure, but the way I read this provision is that the following markets are excluded from the cap increase of 6% to 10%. I don;t read it as being excluded from the cap itself...................

Maybe someone with the inside scoop can elaborate on it.

yes this cap (what cap?)is way out of whack

guess we have to let the pilots set the real cap since thats what it really comes down to is the flying by the pilots sorry to say

Perhaps it would, but the APA will never allow Eagle flights between hubs like ORD-DFW. That's specifically prohibited by the pilots' scope clause.

"This tentative agreement provides our mechanics with market-based compensation, including structural increases, and enhancements to other contract items such as vacation, holidays and sick leave. It also provides American additional flexibility in its maintenance operation," said American spokesperson Missy Latham, in a statement.

This statement says it all. The company will give back some of what they stole in '03 in exchange for "flexibility in its maintenance operation" . MASSIVE CONCESSIONS if this is voted in. Wake up people. Vote NO and let's finally get the ball rolling to get this company lapdog union off the property.

All things considered, I'm voting "NO"!

I'm 49 and have paying into the retiree medical for 20 years only to get it cxld after all this time.
Here is where the TWU steps in with it's own money making plan to offer us - no (freakin) thanks.
Licensed OSM's working in a new classification - that's a non starter.
Too much Eagle everywhere. Hello AMR, business travelers hate RJs. Phoney F/C or not...

Well played AA. Make like the last 2 years without a contract (raise) never happened, and parlay that into a so called 3 year agreement.
Unfortunately, there are probably enough short sighted folks to bite on this POS.

Jeez I remember now!!!! Look at all the 514 goo-gobblin' yes voters!!!! Still amazed even today.

Why is that not a surprise.

Show us the ShAAred SAAcrifice

ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE RESULTS OF THE CURRENT TA?

Not to ignore your question...The problem facing us in regards to the cap is that TULE and AFW are not affected by any cap.
I would hope they see this TA as an unacceptable concessionary package.
I have hopes that there are enough level headed members in TULE who see it for what it is and I hope they realize it is a sad thing to sell out our union brothers and sisters who are under 50.

So, how much would the prefunding money received back be? And retiree medical is only from when I retire under age 65 until i am 65 correct? I am trying to figure out what or how much would be lost in this part of the TA?

When the first company offer was sent back and not brought to the floor, people complained!

When the TWU went to NMB and asked to be released, people complained!

Now that this TA is being brought to the floor, guess what? PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING!

And everyone wonders why Unions get a bad rap in the public eye?

If you like it: vote yes
If you hate it: vote no
If all you are going to do is bash everyone and everything: STFU!

The problem with this is you AASSume the votes will be counted fairly you only need to look at the last few contract votes take away the big raise in 2001 they always just barely pass or in the case of the f/a's just keep voting until it passes.

This is classic from AMR. Fill up the contract with complicated numbers, exceptions, exclusions etc, then after it's signed REDEFINE the meaning of the contract language, get their paid-for arbitrator to go along, and YOU GUYS ARE SCREWED. It's your call, but just from what I've seen, you're throwing away your own jobs wholesale.
