Idiots?

Have you ever been in or on a negotiating committee?

I have twice.

You don't start wIth the hardest items as they will take the longest and you won't make progress.

Pay and Scope are the two hardest and longest issues to tackle

The IAM nor did the TWU made the ruling, like Weaasles stated the NMB made the decision.
For someone who has a boat load of experience in negotiations and unionism in general, you are very naive when you offer your knowledge concerning the TWU. You may be right concerning the IAM, but if you think for one minute the TWU International has not influenced the CBA at American and the NMB, you should take your ball and go home.

Yep.

Always lock in the non-economic ones right away, and go from there.

Wrong.

All this talk about negotiations is only part of the process. Wait until the IAM and TWU wind up going through an arbitration process to settle issues like crew chief seniority and occupational seniority. These items have been tabled. Negotiations may bring some positive results, but issues like these will leave a bad taste in the mouths of those who have to drastically change what they were used to.

Changes will suck for some, but as the youngest mech in my new hire class, I can't wait for some changes.

This is a whole new company and union. Changes are inevitable. Just like we never had a CEO say he's going to pay top dollar.

Look on the bright side the TWU was able to preserve a lot of Tulsa jobs, but I can't see any Union voting in concessions again.

You don't think ultimately that is what we will get?
If United ends up with more than Delta, why settle for Delta?  At least as far as AMT pay goes.  The TWU has a history of taking AMT pay and benefits, and trading them away to preserve jobs for a few extra months, or redistributing to other title groups.  Put it this way, if AA's AMTs got Delta plus three - I would be real surprised.

Well, I'm gonna tell my Fleet negotiators that if me getting Delta plus six means you getting nothing, I'm out, want no part of it.
I'm tired of having pay and benefits taken away from you guys only to subsidize Fleet!
