TWU-IAM Association thread

AMFA was not prepared again!!!! To me if an organization wants to represent you and can also benefit from representing you they would make an effort to support the movement. AMFA had plenty of time to continue the drive after the had their arses handed to them by the IBT. Waiting until 30 days left to reignite the drive was idiotic. The IBT came in and sent flyers, knocked on doors, had organizers at the entrances, had organizers in the ranks with IBT shirts on and collected many cards in a short period of time. Say what you want about the conspiracy theory, collusion, or intent of the drive but they had support and got it done.
I've signed cards since 1989 and even signed one for the IBT just to get a vote but how many times do you have to watch Charlie Brown try to kick that football? AMFA International should be very involved and show support for the "Grass Roots" people busting their arses to get them in.
Now we are stuck with this shite sandwich and better get used to the taste. Perhaps extra mustard would help. Very Disappointing
By signing a teamsters card you became part of the problem. Don't blame AMFA, blame our fellow workers for being so weak minded by a free t shirt and empty promises. Sounds like the TWU or maybe the teamsters. AMFA uses the honest approach. We all expect others to do our dirty work for us. When we failed to reach the required amount of cards it's AMFA'S fault? We are AMFA. If we continue to be led by the hand like little children then it's our fault. If we continue to believe the lies and half truths from the twu it's our fault. One of the biggest lies so far in the association certification was that we will vote if we want it or not. How many more lies are waiting out there? So we should just sit back and do nothing? We as individuals need to be united and show solidarity. Unfortunately this has never happened yet. I say yet because more members are starting to see the light. To continue.....

If they were seeing the light then you would have had your cards. You had 2 years from the date that the Association was announced to prepare and have your supporters at the ready to sign those cards before the witching hour was on you. There were no excuses this time. There were no tactics used against you. If it was what the combined members at AA and US really wanted it would have been done. It was not, because it was not what the majority wanted.

The only light to be seen will be when you achieve a JCBA.  If it is incredibly sub par then the members will vote it down by an overwhelming majority and you will have your ammunition to maybe, finally get in the group that you have supported for so many years.

That's reality.

For fleet service maybe but for M&E it will be business as usual. As far as tactics go? You never experienced them because your fleet service. You have no idea or don't want to see how we as a group have been lied too repeatedly and yet keep on giving the twu more chances to do better. I guess your happy with the latest lie of not being able to vote on the association. Can you honestly trust the association? How many more lies are waiting for us around the corner? Where is the accountability? And they say the Republicans are labor unfriendly. At least the M&E group have been trying to make the twu accountable over the years while your fellow fleet service group act like sheep. We will always push the twu to be accountable although that has yet to happen. We are a different title group with a different job description and responsibilities than fleet but yet you tell us to accept the twu and the alliance. Our needs and requests go unheard. If your happy with the association being shoved up your rear so be it. We asked for transparency and accountability. We asked for a vote before the filing. Totally ignored. Now the nmb decided no vote. That's democracy? Say what you want but facts are facts. We at M&E got screwed again. Most of us react when forced too not like the sheep you work with and accept whatever your master tells you to do.

I can see it now, reorganize of the locals. Mechs and FSCs will be in same locals again. Mech only locals prove to be too much trouble for union.

Believe it or not a large percentage of AMFA supporters signed IBT cards. It doesn't make it right but some people are willing to do anything to get a vote and then the majority can decide. Most people that I have contact with felt IBT had a legitimate shot at an election and hoped AMFA could pull it off. My point being IBT had support from the international where AMFA had an occasional email, that's all. I support AMFA and the movement but obviously it doesn't have the horsepower to make it up the hill. I've signed a card every time and will sign another on the next drive. I have given cards to others but in the end it needs more support, in my opinion. I know you will say I need to step up to the plate and do more but I believe it takes AMFA international involvement to get the job done.
I've been here 26 years, 3 line stations, 2 maintenance bases (1 doesn't exist anymore) and watched the game over and over.

Obviously you don't know what you are thinking. I said there would be not ballot or vote. You just didn't want to hear that!

The answer was " following the completion of the Merger..............think about it. Has the merger been completed???????? NO !
When we get a JCBA it will be..........so hold tight. you may still have your vote, but not till JCBA renewal date....in maybe 4-6 yrs...Geezze yous guy !
I have no idea what you are trying to say here. Can anyone interpret this gibberish?

People that I have contact with and myself didn't buy the snake oil IBT was selling. We felt if they could push a vote then possibly AMFA could at least slide on as an intervenor. That's how it was believe it or not. Hopefully there ill be another opportunity but I believe there will be enough money and benefits in the upcoming JCBA to hold off a future drive. My opinion.

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers said Monday that US Airways mechanics and related employees voted overwhelmingly to retain the IAM as their bargaining representative.
The IAM said 1,903 members, or 58 percent of all votes cast, preferred the IAM, to 1,418 votes for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, or 42 percent.

We will get one faster than ual/cal. They are at 5 years and counting. Unions play follow the leader. No one is really leading at this point. What's the rush?

A group of rampers just standing around...

It really is sad that you poor folks have so many morons amongst your ranks. Kinda sounds like the fools we are starting to get in the F/A ranks. So many years of crappy representation and the minority keeps getting screwed and their voices shut out. I for one feel bad for you guys/gals.

thank you.

The nanny state is alive and well in Tulsa. A vast majority of the amt's, machinists & building maintenance people
in Tulsa never had to deal with layoffs (me included). Even after the pay cuts a guy can still make a living here, and
of course the TWU steered us through bankruptcy with our pension intact (frozen but intact)!! Don't believe me
just ask any TWU official.
The sheeple believe the TWU lies because they sub consciously want to believe that the TWU, they have become
programmed to believe that the TWU will always take care of them, just like a welfare mom and the federal gov.
