TWU-IAM Association thread

The issue is mechanics have fared poorly under the TWU....For me and many other mechanics to all of a suddenly take a liking the to the TWU, they would have to do a 180 in how they conduct themselves and how they treat mechanics. We do not like them. The IAM is no great shakes either. They are not the same IAM of 1966 when every IAM represented airline went on strike.....changing for the better the airline worker. They too are now only concerned with union dues...I am not interested in being represented by not one but two loser unions.

I understand completely, I'm just wondering what your plan is to get out from under the Association at this point.

There are people here who think the company is just going to throw money at us without getting anything in return...

Is that in essence what to company did to the F/A's when they reinstated that $80m of wages their workgroup had voted down?  Or were there strings attached to that as well?

My plan is to stay the course and live among those who completely disgusted.....

My understanding is the FA's have a minimum hours to fly. More intricate issues, I do not know.. Maybe an FA here can elaborate.

Maybe you should have paid attention to their negotiations to get a possible guage on your own instead of just rattling on here all the time? I did.

Alright then.  Thanks your replies, in this thread and the other.

Go preach your BS elsewhere...
Did the pilots not have some SCOPE change? No work group got what they wanted without giving something up..
What will it be for YOU?
What are you willing to give back for your big raise?

Of course they're going to look to chop something from the middle. What "I" will accept will depend on what's sitting in front of me and how "I" decide to vote and if the members "BY MAJORITY" agree with me?

And you go sell your "everyone else is naive but me" elsewhere as well.

I guess you don't think we all gave enough already. there's always more to give, isn't there? We gave enough before BK and freezing our pensions and terminating retiree medical was the icing on the cake..
Then the TWU...er Association, will put their spin on how it will save jobs.

Go read ALL the industry contracts for ALL workgroups and ASK people what they get at DL and maybe you can start to figure shite out for at least what your possibilities could be?

Right now you're just blowing in the wind.

Do you want the current SWA contract?

Doug Parker stated Delta +7% and this what many based their decision on when determining their course.

About $43.00 an hour for the Mechanic.

On the other hand when someone asked if they want the SWA contract, Delta + 7% could mean a course of farming out 50% of their maintenance and going non-union......

I know full well what other airlines give in terms of pay and bennies. I also know what we lost. I started in the business before deregulation. They have destroyed the airline worker. And thanks to weakened unions like the TWU and IAM, their main concern is now union dues. I am not interested in SWA's contract, UPS's contract nor DL with no union.
You may think I am blowing in the wind because you seem to be content with whatever they give you. I am not. We have given ENOUGH.

What exactly do they mean? Base pay? 7% of what? The total "ALL-IN" amount or base pay?  What exactly is this amount?

If you REALLY believe you're going to get it ALL back in one shot you're going to have an IV drip in your arm in hospice before you even get the JCBA.

You can call that defeatism, I call it reality.

Well anyway I'm sure Gary will give it a shot though.
