TWU-IAM Association thread

It looks as if the NMB decided that since we all signed membership cards when we hired under the closed shop clause we authorized the TWU to represent and act on our behalf. The NMB decision tells me that both the IAM and the TWU acted as the membership's rep and entered in to mutual agreement.

So was the Q&A right in stating there will be a vote? It doesn't sound like it.

The argument could be (and probably will be) made that the merger is not yet complete.  After all they are talking about not combining the flight attendants into one group until something like 2017.  And, I don't think the merger of the pilots is going to be a walk in the park.  But, then you all had the opportunity to force an election by sigining cards for AMFA whether you supported AMFA or not.  Sufficient signatures would have forced an election under Federal law.

But, by not signing cards, you have chosen the Association by default because TWU and IAM weren't going to risk the loss of all that dues money by calling for an election.
They also did not want a ballot choice of NO UNION or WRITE IN. Too much at stake.

when the negos start  one thing is FSA as well as MTR should not have to give up hardly anything  esp in light of the fact the company is making dough   but the down right scary part is   what kind of deal awaits us all     When there is a deal  everyone had better look at the fine print  the devil is in the details.

But having the Association certified gets us closer to getting to a JCBA and money and better benefits now for all of us.

Are you really expecting to get better money and benefits without giving anything in return?

So you're ok with NOT having a vote?
Don't you wonder what other  Q & A's they lied about?

Don't count in it. We at NW were in the best of times financially back pre 9/11 when we were in negotiations with the IAM and they brought back a POS and tried to sell it to the membership claiming it was the best they could get. That was the turning point that even had die hard IAM lovers over to AMFA.

Pensions perhaps? Both were written as having a choice. One down as a lie, watch out for number two.

Just like the CompAAny and the big gov-n-mint wanted. Two weak azz unions on the dole....One bent kneed CompAAny Union and the other a Scab Union....both equally worthless Industrial Unions. No vote by the beleaguered memberships of two airlines, company unionism at it's finest.  One airline fed a steady diet of 30+ years of TWu concessions that broke our backs in 2003, to that even competing airlines in bankruptcy couldn't match the level of TWu give-backs.

The other airline a small bottom dweller for years that had to file bankruptcy twice and has beaten down old employees some of whom should have retired decades ago, but they can't afford it with the IAm Scab Union in control of their pension.

This bullshite is NOT going over well here tonight....
