LOL! I like that, CactUS! Imagine working for 30 plus years ,retiring and having a new hire get boarded before you! Not cool. You saw the message on here about the guy who's retired from US, 66 years old and working full time? Amuses me when people say the retirees have all the time in the world to fly. If they are THAT retired, they are probably in their 80's and dont go ANYWHERE. Most retirees I know are working and rarely travel. :)
Chris---- I'm 70, retired AA, and travel quit a bet! ----- So much for that theory!

See! You are OLD!!! 7 years ahead of me. ;) I assume not working anymore? Two more years and that will be me. I'm planning on a lot of cruises though and like the rest I buy tickets to get to/from.

"Old"? You're just as old as you feel! And I can still put in a good days work! (If I feel like it!)----- And that's the advantage of being retired!------ Those 7 years will go quickly. "Working"?------- Well, at least not for AA any longer! As for buying your own rides, that's great!------- But I still like to keep my options open!!!

This is between AA/US employees. I have 12 years seniority and I'm good either way we choose but I am leaning towards seniority. I would hate to be bumped off a flight by a new hire...

Be careful of what you wish for.

I'd venture an educated guess that at AA, 12 years company seniority will place you at the bottom 5%. Even the stapled TWA employees' pay scales and amount of vacation are determined by date of hire.

Long haul international gets more complicated. The charges used to be $50 in coach, $100 in business, and $200 in first... that may have moved around a bit since I last looked, and there were a couple markets for ultra-long-haul where the premium charges bumped up to $125/$250.

None of that includes taxes and fees. It's simply cheaper to buy a confirmed ticket to the UK than it is to nonrev in F.

Actually, for international first class it is $100 each way for employees with less than 25 years seniority and $65 for those with more than 25 years seniority. Then there are the fees and taxes...

Here are the DFW-LHR-DFW and DFW-GRU-DFW charges:

...and I have 30 yrs and it wouldn't bother me if a 12 yr employee boarded before I did if he followed company policy.

Same here, first come, first served. A new hire with just one week of VC should have just as good of a shot at getting where he wants to go as me with five weeks.

I'm a CactUS. LoL. People not working for either airline need to mind there business and there 2 cents. This is between AA/US employees. I have 12 years seniority and I'm good either way we choose but I am leaning towards seniority. I would hate to be bumped off a flight by a new hire...

Then check-in earlier. Then you win.

I've sent D3 guest travelers through ORD on their own and had no issues.I don't see what the hysteria is about FCFS.

You'll get used to it.Check in, don't be a douche to the agents, dress accordingly and you'll be fine.

And of course, have other options.

Well put. Company benefit not a contractual right. Be responsible and check-in early.
I do not see why we have to have more than one topic on this issue. Is it me or did topics on non-rev travel pop up as soon as the merger was announced? Are we that concerned about non-rev travel over more important merger issues?

We work at the airport. Why would you want to waste your own personal time checking in 4 hours early? Doesn't make sense

You can put yourself on the list from your computer at home before you step one foot out the door. If you want to sit around the airport for hours that is your choice.

I don't want to check in 4 hours early to beat another employee out of a seat. I'd rather take a seat or lose a seat to seniority
CactUS ------- With AA sys., you don't have to show up 4 hours early!------- You can list yourself on the net. through "Jet Net", for a flight 24 hours in advance. So when you show up at the airport, your already on the list, and you should know where you stand on the list.
