  This ol fat cat had to go back and look to make sure lasagna hadn't blurred his vision. I had to stop laughing long enough to reread that a poster from PHX was talking about how planes came in loaded. LOLOLOL

I'm not saying you never get one badly loaded from the east ,but if you do it is pay back for the crap loads you send east. Here where I work PHX inbounds are a joke ,a bad one.One example offload AC BL85 in reality about maybe 40 will be local the rest will be outbound express bags.I have long since concluded that the E key does not work on company computers there

of course they will all be mixed together

REPORT FROM SAN
Unofficial: Delany 63 Canale 5

Well folks, I admit I was a little suprized, because I don't think
we had more than 12 US votes. Rich has a lot of connections
to UA in SAN and ultimately that must have been a factor.

It didn't hurt that he and two other ND08 candidates camped out
in SAN for two days. He made quite a few points while talking
to the "masses" but these are what I remember:

1. The main direction of ND08 is away from consessions and toward
company responsiblity. That is it will now longer be the responsibility
employees to "save" the company from poor management.
2. Much more openess and communication. The 141 website will
be used more and kept current. Officers will answer questions instead
of evading them.
3. Voting involvement will be encouraged. They expect to be held
accountable or be voted out. They support universal electronic voting.
It's interesting to me that the latest Messenger has no mention of this
historic vote. Well maybe they realized that only a few stations were
left but it seems to me that they would be interested in encouraging the vote.

My hope is that everbody comes away from this with more of a commitment
to our union. I'm asking myself what can I do to get the "masses" at my station
involved.

Thanks to all.

PS: For my PHD in Sociology published ealier this year I did a comparison
of work difficulty between two work groups. The two groups I investigated
were FS WN and FS US. Many complex formulas and alogerithms were
used to normalize behaviors thus facilitating the comparison. I will simply
print here a statement from the conclusion of my work.

" While US Fleet Sevice employees work long laborious hours for little pay
Southwest employees hardly do sh!t."

One of our ramp guys in BWI went to Southwest (one of their busiest stations) and he says that they work more flights but that the procedures make it easier than US. As a new guy still on probation he gets all the crap and he says it is still easier than US. To be fair, US is chronically short at night in BWI so maybe it is just a station thing.

What simplifying "procedures" are different?
I always assumed it to be a fairly easy to understand concept: 1) Toss bags from bin onto belt loader to be placed on to carts, and 2) Sort and separate, then stack bags onto an out-bound plane.

What shortcuts are the SWA guys doing for which they are not following the same "procedures" as US? (Yes, I know about the future use of the scanners, but those are not being used in large numbers presently.)

So Inquires Jester.

District Officer Elections: Final Tally

Only LGA and MCI remain. LGA will go big for Delaney and who knows what MR will do in MCI other than go back on the ramp to work under the contract that she screwed her own with.

Delaney 4725
Canale 1515

Now Canale knows the power of the network of the masses. He got exactly what he deserved as he screwed over members from all airlines and was the "Frank Lorenzo of the Union'.

I think the only stations that didn't support Delaney were SEA, JAX, one HNL Local, DFW, DTW.

AGC's were a senseless brutality also:
The bottom vote getter from the New Direction team received: 3898
Kraves was the top vote getter from Team 2008 and got 1815.

This month, a message was sent from the members to these greedy CEO's that the masses have had enough and threw Canale out on his arse and installed a team that will stop allowing the masses to continue paying for $120 million executive compensation plans, and poor management decisions. The Canale Concession stand is no more.

Mr. Nelson,

please tell me you will be present in JAX for the District Convention. After Randy has to go through the embarrassment of having to swear in the entire ND08 team, I want to see you walk up to Cheap Suits and say "Randy we no longer recognize you as Chairman...Please Leave!"

Regarding this apples (US) Oranges (WN) argument. What does it matter who works harder? A plane is a plane, is a plane.
I have a ton of friends that left HP/US to join WN in LAS, one of WN's busiest stations. When asked to compare the two jobs, everyone told me that it's a cake walk at WN. They are just a little more organized than we are.
From what I've been told, and someone correct me if I'm wrong (and I don't mean by speculating), that once a plane comes in, they load one bin while unloading the other. This takes place on every turn. Not like us, having to wait for a load plan then rushing to get it done.
One thing they also said was that the grass isn't always greener on the WN side. All said that they had better friends and more fun at HP. But the money is better and the work is easier at WN. This is over a period of 10 years at LAS, and all pretty much had the same answers to questions.
WN is a well run airline, we all know that. But I've always said when asked "Why I didn't go to WN". I compare it to joining the yankees. The Yankees are the Yankees, always will be, can't take away the 26 rings. But to join a team like the RAYS(US) and take the Yanks (WN) out, feels better to me and makes me more proud. Our day will come.

Naysayers begin your attack, but I bet I will be defended more than bashed. that's why I love my peers.

The bottom line is that Delaney answered alot of questions to their fullest possible and you didn't have to have a follow-up

question to get the full answer. He thinks like and for the masses. Good job ND08.

Mike

Tim, this has got to me sheer ecstasy for you seeing as how Canale banned you from the meeting!

Now we banned him from his career HAHAHA!

Once Randy hands over the 'green jacket' to Mr. Delaney, things will be sufficient. No need for me to bust on Randy for anything. I wish him and his family the best in the future.
My anger isn't against Randy Canale the person, but rather his evil ways and actions which have oppressed the masses.
As Local Chairman of ORD, it would have been nice if my District Chairman and his acting AGC could have actually recognized me as the Local Chairman as opposed to writing 'love letters' to management telling management to 'refuse' to recognize me. While his ways against me were painful, I am thankful he was such the arse against me since it taught me to be more focused in trying to build a network 'within the IAM' that was capable of toppling his oppressive regime in a way in which the masses would have their voice back.

At any rate, after the convention I have much hope of a new General Chairman and also a new AGC for my station. I also am hopeful that many of the Local Chairman who were intimidated and fearful of Canale will now stand up for their members more adequately and become leaders. Offhand I can only think of Fairbanks, PJ, Hooton, Dfran, O'Barr, Derek Smith, Johnny K, Carson, Stefanis as Local Chairman who have a set of nuts and do the right thing for their membership regardless of politics. Others like Vinny C from TPA may have potential since he doesn't like management and does fairly well on serving the grievances of his folks. Him and those like him just need to put the politics and 'kissing the pinky' aside. The New Direction team isn't like Canale, nobody expects anyone to 'kiss pinkies', just serve the membership and serve it moreso.

I think that's a good start and hopefully other local chairman will find it useful to join in.

Tim Nelson

Mike
He thinks like the masses because he is part of the masses. I've had the privilege of talking to Rich quite often over the past few months and I can tell you that he does not see himself as being above the masses and he has a dogged determination and conviction to serve the masses. That's who he is. Randy was a 'far away chairman' I think you'll find that Rich is a 'close by chairman'.

I think our focus shouldn't be on the past and things Canale did or didn't do to someone, but rather pressing forward serving the membership with swords held high. The masses don't have time for the past, especially when corporate greed is always throwing darts and attacking. In that vein, I am not satisfied since there is much work to be done. It's a constant fight between worker justice and corporate greed. There's a time for celebration and we will celebrate for a night in October among the masses, the next morning we will again be focused.

Onward Solidarity!

I personally know MR and think very highly of the type of person she is. I don't know if you have specific information to make you say that she screwed MCI and the membership. I think more likely she was overwhelmed with Canale and all of the manipulating he did. RR and LAS were the only west people on the committee with her and they followed Canale which probably left her in a situation of going against everyone or staying and trying to help the membership the best she could. Have you met her? The statement is uncalled for, what's done is done.

Rez,
I thought I knew Mary too. She came through Vegas for some Team Lead training. We took her on the ramp and told her the importance of our field stations. It was like she was a zombie. We(Vincent) and Willis tried to talk some sense into her we had to explain our scope section to her she didnt realize what it meant. I believe Mary to be a nice person but not a vocal and standup person. On the other hand change is coming in the way of local leadership in Vegas. I heard today that mgmnt has already recognized Maiorino as the new station chair blowing JM off, even though elections arent until November. And to fill you people who used to work in vegas DA the Hub Director, will no longer be with US Airways and Ben C.(god help us all) will take over. This guy is anti union all the way and he shoots from the hip. Hes been burned once in arbitration and cost the company lots of money, I beleive it will happen again, I dont know when the comapny will realize they have the wrong person in charge. Whats the real kicker though is Maiorino was the one terminated 4 yrs ago and brought back to be made whole in everyway, now mgmnt has to deal with someone they termed and were made to bring back to work.
