Election Update

EWR Lodge 1445

This Station is a small group for D141 and had a very small turnout . With the voting all but concluded the New Direction Team still continues to visit lodges. Small Lodges are just as important as Large Lodges and ND08 will continue to be visable thru out the entire voting process.

It is reported that the vote split on most seats but no concrete numbers were released.

If the numbers become public I'll get them out.

I believe jester said he would make leass than $11/hr for the next 5 yrs which means hes a west employee with less than 2yrs of service. probably from PHX. Jester what station are you from maybe we could get some LAS guys out to your station.

Right! You guys are like a family out there, I am so envious of that!

People in PHX think they can yell at each other like this is the military. It's a joke.

Now that we're USAIR, I might refuse to load that back bin by myself on a quick-turn and get a union guy involved if needed.

I have to agree with CLTRAT- the company just doesn't care about us. In PHX, they will fill out some self-fulfilling report to keep their bacon out of the frying pan.

PHX ramp is a textbook example of the hostile work environment. There are ramp managers (once known as "supervisors") like "x" who have the idea that running a ramp is like the military, where a good "because I told you to! now if you don't do it I'll fire you!" suffices as persuasion. He is especially irritating as he still has that idiotic Army butch cut and that nasally faux-Southerner twang drill sergeant scream he makes. He's from near Detroit, for crying out loud. How did he get that moronic Southern twang? Most of the PHX managers would have their teeth knocked out in PHL if they tried their nonsense there.

You and the other posters about PHX management and how demanding they are must be junior people. I assure you that no and I repeat no PHX management barks orders at me. Nor do any people I know with at least 10 years put up with that B.S.

Mr. Rat,

You need to review my past posts. I have never been a supporter of Boss Canale which does not mean I have supported the Nihilist Direction team either. In fact, I did support the IBEW when it was making noise around the various stations. As far as me not voting, I was hoping for a way that both sides could lose and a pox on both their houses! I guess I could have wasted my time, gone to the union hall, and just write, "Screw Both of You!" on the ballot, but I think the Simpsons marathon was on that day.

As for what other airline ramp agents are earning, again... I'll take the time I have now on the contract whilst those poor souls began to negotiate during the most difficult time in the US airline industry. By the time the crying ends, don't be surprised if those other airline ramp agents are closer to us in pay. As for the SWA guys, when I work as many turns as them in day, then I'll begin to clamor about being paid more.

So Repeats Jester.

Impress me and tell me one ND08 Candidate you have spoken to or corresponded with in order that you have come to you assessment of the team. If your assessment is based on other than first hand knowledge, your boasts are unfounded and laughable. Thus Jester would be a fitting description.
It would also be a fair statement that your lack of participation makes you but a spectator and thus irrelevant.

Just an observation!

it's interesting to see someone opine about a candidate, yet doesn't care enough to bother to vote as you say rat tales their opinions on the subject are irrelevant

Ever heard of Human Resources................................Next time a manager comes at you ....use the words, I'm offended or hostile environment, they will run, but still make the call and go for thier job

I'm no longer in PHX so it's not an issue. Everyone at my station has known eachother for years and we find no reason to be ugly with one another. Somehow P.Rez and others have come to the conclusion that I had managers screaming in my face. Just because it's not happening to me doesn't mean that I don't notice what's going on. Whether a person has one day on the ramp or fifty years, there is no excuse for this behavior. I'm sure for P.Rez, such behavior would only be unacceptable if it was happening to him.

I handled bullies quite well. Scream at me and I scream back.

No, you are wrong, everyone should stand up to management, junior people just usually don't. I've proven myself as a person who has stood up against management. I have tried to make it better for everyone, not just myself. What have you done for your fellow brothers and sisters?

P. Rez

A manager or supervisor cannot "order" you to do anything that you feel endangers your health or safety or that of anyone around you. You can refuse to do such work because of these beliefs. This is the reason I will not work certain A/C alone. Check Section 43 of the posted link.

Occupational Health and Safety Act

Mr. Jester
I will compare the SWA daily work load with mine any day. If the truth be known I would be willing to bet they don't handle anywhere near as much cargo as I do in a single day. Regardless of how many "turns" they do in a shift. The logistics of their operation are very different than our operation.

JD, I used to work the ramp in MCI side by side gates with SWA...they do quick turns,( 737's ),however they have much more help,NO frt.,,,no mail...no interline agreements...zone loads etc....you are right ..their logistics are MUCH more different than our hub (airline)..we handle much more cargo, especially frt./mail /,comat/aog etc.... then the mucho bags....You guys in CLT are the best in the business......Jester, I am now renaming you as The Court Jester ....funny and clueless , please come out east...we need a water boy and someone to carry our kneepads to the gate... got to let you use that "extensive" education for something..says THE WHISPERJETT>>>LOL

Here's another joke.......If you were only making $11/hr befort the t/a, that means you're not even topped out, which means that you don't even have 10 yrs on the job, which means, and here's the punch line.......you'll probably get bumped miserably or laid off.

Imagine paying $4 for gas when you're unemployed.

I have more time on the toilet than you do with the company and have been through more with this company than you probably ever will.

I think I'm done with your economic babble.
SO true PIT.....my earplugs have more time. than THE COURT JESTER...by the way the PIT guys I've worked with in CLT,have been great....good guys....says THE WHISPERJETT

Just wondering,
Has anyone informed the out going agc's who lost the recent election due to the fact of
misrepresentation, that they must order new uniforms. The old style is being replaced.
And also, the CBA they supported with cheap suites will be thier new contract!

Whoa Daddy............................what goes around comes around. Welcome home boyz.

Where to begin? So little time and so much misinformation...

1) Southwest handles more domestic cargo than any passenger airline in the US.

2) Zone Loading? What's that? When the PHL boys are tossing a few back at the shipping dock? Sorry, there isn't any zone loading coming on any flight to PHX from East, unless "zone loading" means to throw all the locals and connects in the same bin while giving only wheels to grab.

3) Okay, math majors. I said under the West contract, I would still be earning less than $11/hour five years from today. I was earning around $10/hour until recently, the correct answer is not less than two years on the job.

4) I do not plagiarize and when I use a quote, I provide a citation. As for a thesaurus, I never use them although I am fond of spell check.

5) If I lose this job tomorrow, I could easily make double doing something else with my educational background and experience, but I would miss all the opportunities to posts on this board, and that alone is worth an additional $20/hour, right? Bring it on, as I need a five month paid vacation provided by Uncle Sam's unemployment insurance.

6) Not possible a never more difficult time in the US airline industry than today? Someone needs to read the WSJ or even USA Today Economy Section.

7) Sorry, no one is bumping me out from LAS as PHX is still hiring, and no one is bumping me from my beloved bag room couch.

8) One's combined stints on the commode during company time doesn't qualify one for even a job cleaning horse stalls, not to mention, providing financial and economic advise for others to hold as Gospel.

9) In terms of people I have met who are on the Nihilist Directions team, I think we can pretty much assume that I have met "Opie" before based upon my prior posts. Likable guy, pleasant, great at a party, concerned about co-workers, but that does not mean he has the background for the position. There have been others too, but I'll avoid details.

10) Reality will be a bitter pill for you all after experiencing that moment of clarity for which a new union leadership won't provide you anything different and the harsh economic conditions in this industry will cause most of you to rue the day for which you had the hope of better times ahead.

So Replys Jester.
