IAM Fleet Service topic 04Aug-

Pathetic doesn't even begin to describe the last few posts. What's the point in asking? Jester could post my name and badge number and pass it off as his own. Anyone could. Nothing will either prove or disprove what anyone says here about who they are. Everyone will still have the same opinion, regardless of whether or not he's fleet or management, or quite possibly a yeti crab that has mastered the use of not only a computer, but also the wonder and magic of the internet. Please, just put it to bed.

I disagree with your assessment. Disinformation, negativity, and propaganda can cost Fleet Service big money... and/or save the Company big money!

There is a huge cost attached to what the Unions gain or lose in negotiations. We would be pretty naive to think the Company or investors would not apply these tactics to forums such as this.

That is why knowing the source of the information is important in a thread that is FLEET SERVICE! This is not a general public... ask every Tom, Dick, and Harry what do you guys think forum.

If you want non Fleet posts... go to non Fleet threads!

P.S. District Lodge... please move forward with a members only thread!

Ok, so this post is geared for the outstations, since aircraft cleaning is handled by vendors in the hubs. WTF?! Why is the compnay hell bent on the cleaning detail now? For you readers in the field stations, particularly the west stations, are you all getting the same drill as we are? Really now, mgmt is handing out these little lime green lamenated cards with all of the expectations for a "turn clean". What used to be a one person job to dump the trash and get a bag of ice or two is now this: ALL rampers report to the aircraft cabin after the offload and follow your assigned "cleaning area". One guy to do galleys/lavs, one guy in Y class, one guy in F class... Two spray bottles, one window cleaner, one disinfectant, 2 different colored wipes, one for lavs, one for galley...spray everything down including floor. Y Class, pick all seat pockets clean, straighten all seatbelts, vacuum/hokey. F class, trash out of pockets, spray all tray tables, fold blankets, re-case the pillows, change out the inflight magazine in each seat pocket. you get the idea! To boot, on the back of one of these lime green cards, it says that flights with numbers higher than 700 follow a different set of standards. WTF?! I call B.S. All this to be accomplished in the few minutes between boarding, then back down to load mail and bags. I know the old USAir had Utility, a department set up just for this purpose, gone... If you work in a hub, no worries, there are vendors with 8 little non-english speakers to raid the plane clean between boarding. If you are out west in a field station, you are assed out, new standards, expectations, and IT IS NOT UNIFORM across the board. Any union advice?

Your scope language contains language for your group to clean planes, the company sets the standards and assigns the work via the lead, there is nothing you can do about it except do it by the book, if it takes longer and you dont load the plane ontime, its on them, just document your on and off times.

Ive come to realize that this company is in the rebuilding and self-identity mode. You have to understand that the Mgmt ( west ) mentality is not on par with what you're used to , or me for that matter. They are rebuilding themselves from within. We with whiskers deem this as " reliving the past and we already know this " factor.

Well patience my friend. Let them do their thing. They pay us to let them do their thing..Is it wrong? No.. Is it unnecessary time consumption? yes! Most know already what to do and how, but they pay us to listen, so lets listen and be patient... We are in good hands with our union leadership, so let them do what they want and how they want to do it. We will cross the " Let go of my ears I know what I'm doing " later.

Ps. My west station is contract cleaning and I wouold prefer to clean the planes myself to protect jobs...Work by the book and just do your job according to your contract......

Thanks for the advice, will adhere to it. Just seems silly to be the puppet for this latest experiment. We are JUST shy of making cleaning the priority, not ramp functions. I also agree, cleaning vs. loss of head count, we will take the cleaning, too, and we are one of the few stations that clean their own RON's.

The graffiti scenario reeks of management seeking to investigate possible company property defacement charges against a known union supporter. You could clear this whole thing up by privately sending me your book number.

If it matches... and is verifiable to the member, I will publicly apologize to you in this open forum.

In addition, I will send you three (3) Pit Cooked... Pulled Pork... BBQ Plates with all the sides directly from the Carolinas! These plates will be packaged and preserved by freezing and sent overnight delivery directly to your desert abode!

So offers a right to exist treaty...

BroBilly

P.S. I’ll even throw in some moon pies!

Not trying to be difficult... but what's a "book number"? I have heard of books in the trades and I know people move with their book to other cities which grants them preferential treatment (if that's the phrase), but I honestly don't ever recall West having anything like that before or since the merger.

Also honestly, I understand that I have stated some rather unpopular positions in this forum, so I prefer to stay as a nobody on the ramp. It has been my hope that if nothing else my views might open the eyes to those who appear to follow the dogma of the extreme unionism and encourage people greater reliance upon themselves.

So Expresses Jester.

P.S. What kind of Moon Pie?

Of course, staffing wasn't increased for this new silly monkey business.

Jester...

Surly a man of your intellect, education, and verbal prowess would have garnered from history that the majority of monumental accomplishments by mankind were not achieved by any one person acting alone.

Your book number can be obtained by contacting your local....

People are living in a pipe dream on here if they ever think US rampers will be paid as much as SWA. Its a completely different company that makes money hand over fist and values its employeess. Thats just how it is folks, if you don't like it, get a skill and move on to other pastures.

Mark my words all that is going to happen on the next contract is a VERY slight pay increase in exchange for more outsourcing.

Welcome to the world of UCLA...you Unload,Clean and Load your Aircraft.

We don't do it on every flight, but it happens often enough not to be a surprise anymore.

My brother, I hope you are wrong, but I'm afraid you may very well be right.

I don't like it either. This current managment team is the most shrewd as they come, "COST NUETRAL" is the bible and Parker would shut the doors on this company before he starts paying rampers $26 an hour like swa. Also have to remember that the Pilots and FA's have contracts coming up that are going to be hellacious for the company to pay. I honestly think, we will be lucky to keep the same payscale we have current and keep all stations employeed.

Well we can just shrug and bend over or we can actually fight for what we want. I'm not interested in the metrics of justifcation for what we do or do not "deserve". The whole of human history, business, politics, and war all boils down to the fight for resources and who gets what and how much. Executive management and the BOD are interested only in expanding their wealth, which they would happily do to the detriment of your household and hopes and security of your family. We can pretty it up with suits and seriousness and legalese but in the end it's just two dogs fighting over one prize.

I agree that current management is as shrewd as they come; when they know they can take they'll just keep grabbing for more and before you know it our collective backs are against the wall. Corporate America has effectively neutered the working classes of this country and convinced them that they should only expect to receive what their "superiors" determine they should; our media and crap educations have paved the way for several generations of unquestioning consumers and wage slaves.

People should feel the taste of blood and come to lust for it (figuratively speaking), and stand up and fight. Otherwise they can follow defeatist logic until it lands them in the greeter's position at Wal-Mart, or doing the same job they've done for years but suddenly at Express wages. I work hard and we as a work group have done everything we've been asked, met our goals, and have helped to make this underdog airline a top performer.

We should stop selling ourselves short, grow some teeth and a pair, and take what's ours.
