Enough Second Chances!

Art,
I too hope to fly with you soon. I wish I had been on that flight with you! I would have love to see you in action. You know by now how much we all appreciate and love you!! But I know it never hurts to hear it again. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and loyalty. I only hope this company can pay you back for all the years you have been treating us well.

Andare con la pace di Dio e maggio riempe il suo cuore!

The problem I have with US is that I have taken lots of trips on Delta (also some very simple and some complicated, about the same ratio), actually more flights than US, and not once was my bag lost, delayed or sent on a different flight (including one through-checking). On Delta, I have never been stranded overnight, and I have not had one cancelled flight. Of course I have had delayed flights, and I have had to re-route when a delay busts a connection, but basically Delta does everything right, and almost always with a smile and never ever ever rude.

Consider yourself lucky then. The DL people I've taken on reroutes havent had the same luck as you. The DL agents on the employee bus tell the same sad stories we do. For you, DL does everything right, just like for MCI, WN does everything right. Sooner or later the odds are going to catch up with you. Then whats the story going to be? ;)

I think the real problem here is we are all getting beat up pretty badly. Either by customers, the press, each other, etc.
The minute you're down, the beating starts. "No wonder, you suck, I'll never fly this piece of trash airline again." Over and over and over. The smiles fade as the rudeness of the customers get worse and worse.

PSA I feel for you guys I really do. Personally the doom and gloom was so bad that I couldn't take anymore and quit. I honestly don't know how you (and everyone else at U) go to work everyday under such horrible circumstances.

BTW I started working for PSA in SAN back in 87.... those were the days werent they?

My prayers are with you,

Js,
First off, a kiosk would not have checked your bag to HHH. It would have checked it to CLT. It would not have looked for your second reservation clthhh because you were in phl. Please do not confuse the U computer system (sabre) with something omnipotent. Hardly the case.

Second, Dinosaur is correct in procedure. That would have gotten your bag tag to HHH.

Lastly, the U work force is going to get more junior (read more inexperienced) U management are trying to run off the more experienced folk. This is something that everyone should get used to. I am sure youve experienced good service on U, otherwise you wouldn't continue to fly on them. I wasn't there, but it sounds like you had a pretty frustrated agent to deal with, you were frustrated in turn, and it got the best of both of you.
[post="242330"][/post]

I knew the kiosk would not print out a bag tag to HHH, so I was already prepared to ask the agent to check it through. I had a printout of my second itinerary with the flight information and everything. Oh well.

A while back I thought I read here that they were hiring new, unskilled people to man the kiosks and assist passengers. Is that wrong? If it's true, then our expectations of them shouldn't be so high. I operate under the assumption that I need to check in somewhere besides the kiosk for anything that's not routine.

Hey scamer, I mean JS, what you did is Illegal and that is that. Airlines are in the position they are in because of people like you. If you bought a ticket PHL-HHH the kiosk and Agent would have no problem chcking the bag to Hilton Head. However, YOU tried to get around the system, shame on you. You got what you paid for and deserved. Plain and simple.

not that a couple bags will make the difference of weight on a plane but are you really saying that a pilot took on more weight without redoing his paperwork..not too safety concious are we at WN

Not even that but if the bags were late coming down what gurantee do you have that the owners for those bags made it on the flt.....maybe they missed the flight..but again not too security concious at WN eh .

Hey dont try this if and when WN decides to go international

Madders:

The security issue is a moot point on a
domestic flight. ALL checked bags are
currently security screened prior to being
sent to baggage makeup and positive
bag match is not necessary, except for
selectee customers. The TSA obviously
believes their screening system works.

Oh, JS, didnt you get burned once before trying to do the same thing out of LGA??????

Give it up. Why are you harping on this
subject of illegal connections, et al.
The internet will book these types of
connections and provide the lowest
fare to the customer. It's out of the
hands of the airlines now. Get used to
it. This is one of the reasons why US
is getting ready to have GoFares
across the system. It will elminate
many of the fare restrictions that
push people to the internet to "beat
the system".

I can honestly say that I still love working for US and I do believe better days are ahead of us. BOS inflight is a great place to work. I've never worked with a finer group of people.

If it's illegal, why did US Airways do it for me once before with no problems?

How can I possibly "get around" a system where I follow every single rule to the letter? Not once have I ever asked for a fee or rule waiver. All I ask is that the airline live up to their end of the deal and do it without lip.

Didn't we just prove that the attitudes and lost luggage don't mean anything? I believe we just had 2 almost 5 million dollar sale days. If you don't come back (which I seriously doubt when you look to book a cheap fare) we can get 10 more "It's the Fares Stupid" customers.

Of course not that I condone attitude or lost luggage, but this is the reality of our new air transport Walmart LCC's.
[post="242238"][/post]

And considering the "new world order" of cheap fares, cheap labor, I agree.

Most don't. Yours truly doesn't ask for much. I know how to work the system, but I also know that demands don't get you anywhere.

When I've been a regular on particular routes, FAs have made it a point to welcome me back. One actually took me aside on a flight and told me that the reason she remembered me was that I was one of the nicest people she's ever had in FC. Take it for what it's worth.

But, the majority of us will do just about anything to help. We do go out of our way. That just never seems to make it onto these forums or in the press. Or even at that party you went to last week, when every one sat around and bad mouthed US.

The minute you're down, the beating starts. "No wonder, you suck, I'll never fly this piece of trash airline again." Over and over and over. The smiles fade as the rudeness of the customers get worse and worse. And we get up in the morning to do it all over again, because why? Maybe we think we can make a difference to at least one person. Maybe we can make someone laugh and get them thinking even though this airline has terrible management the employees are still trying to make it work. Which is why US is still here. The employees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
